Let's take this shit to the debate stage and get someverything opinions, rather than a generic poll.
Yes, it's clear you guys want a word count. Which is fine. I'm the fucker who suggested this shit. In my experience, word counts can make a fed more attractive to handlers yet at the same time limit others. I've also come to realize they are a needed evil in this game given our busy lives and that everyone seems to be in 400 feds at one time. Most word counts I've run into have been 3 to 5K. This allows room to do story/CD and trash/shoot. It levels the playing field and creates a sense of equality for all different styles. Well, as best we can in this game anyway.
Problem becomes when the word count is too low. Small word counts can limit storytellers and straight trash talkers. It also produces a game where no one is forced to evolve or do more than usual. In a sense, if a straight trash talker is up against a CD peron, the trash talker doesn't have to do trash and vice versa. It takes that sense of a challenge out it.
Regardless, we need a word count.
Too small and you'll alienate the storytellers. Too big and you'll murder the straight shoot guys. Too short, no exploration or characters and boredom. Too long or none at all, mass roleplays that go on and on without getting anywhere; short guys are crushed and demotivated by these guys (if you think mine are long, I've seen some shit that intimidates even me.)
The numbers in that poll are pretty generic and limiting to what you guys might want. So, I'm asking for you all to discuss it openly. I also need to inform you of some things.
At this point in this post, I'm already at just over 300 words. With a word count, you are limited to what you can and cannot say. You need to choose your words carefully. You are bound, trapped by constraints. 1.5K is not a lot for a lot of us. It's not a lot, period. Your freedom is gone and if you can't make your point in about a page in any standard word processor, you're fucked. You want to give yourself a little wiggle room and 1.5K doesn't do it. For just about all of us. Storytellers and straight shooters. That number may look attractive right now because of time or other feds or whatever reason you may have, but when you get right down it, it's not very much room. Go ahead, put 1.5K words in a processor. It's scary small.
At the same time, no limits can be daunting to straight shooters. I'll be the first to admit it, when I get put up against straight shooters, it's very easy for them to become intimidated. They don't try as they know they're already going to lose. But while it may look big, it's not as much as you think. Stand in my shoes, go ahead and try to write a interesting story. It's not always easy and it's not always going to win. By making a small word limit, you're hurting them. You're also hurting a very vital aspect of this game - storytelling.
Did you ever wonder, maybe I write story because I'm not great at writing trash and I make up for there? Even if I wasn't, I would still have to do trash. Because it's a part of the game. Nothing is stopping the small guys from trying a little storytelling.
For the straight shooters, taking away much needed storytelling for everyone with an epically small word limit can ruin the game for a lot of us. Reading the same generic trash gets old, fast. I tend to believe that is why we moved away from just straight shoot into CD and shoot.

1.5K is not as big as you think it is and 4K is not as big as you think it is. I've seen segments reach 800 words just with dialogue and action. Matches can be 2K. It needs to be reasonable, the word count. It needs to be for everyone.
Even I don't reach beyond 4K most weeks and if you can't pump out 2K words. Try something new. This isn't a joke to some of us. This is a big change. Think about it. Look at all sides. 1.5K is severely limiting. Even for you short shoot guys and I haven't been seeing too much of that these days.
In our most recent main event, every roleplay went over 1.5K. It went over 2K. Even the Breakout Champion dropped an amazing bomb on us. If you want to be champion or keep up with the champions, you need to be ready to put up and show up and post the best. I'm not saying 12K bombs but there's got to be more effort put forth.
If the 1.5K wins, people like me will need to adapt and change. Everyone will. There is not a limit that will not force everyone here to change their style to be incredibly different. It's going to hinder us more than help.
We will lose our ability to tell stories and grow our characters. We will lose character development. We will lose entertainment.
Think wisely. Vote wisely. Also, debate. We need to find a common ground. This is the first fed I've found that will let us openly debate about huge changes. If you have a better suggestion than the ones in the poll say it. If you can counter my argument, go for it. If you want to call me a bitch, go for it. Come and get me. Debate finds common ground and gets us all happy.
In the end, LAW needs some changes and this is a start to make ourselves more attractive to new blood. I happen to think that 1.5K is not attractive considuring most feds are run with a much higher word count.
And go! Let's find some ground we can all be happy with.
