Spending a ‘mostly quiet’ day with Sarah was wonderful. Their usual games had been soft and easy, mostly fun and funny as they snuck kisses, gropes, and more wherever they could. This was the life that Kenzi had always dreamed of with her. At last, there were no more problems popping up to spoil what was clearly meant to be. Even the trouble with Jacob was largely forgotten. Occasionally Kenzi stole glances of Sarah speaking in hushed tones to her guards or phoning home to Lacklanland for updates, but the tension had largely dissipated. Today was about them being together…not ‘two dum chicks on Twitter’ for a change.
…no doubt the TwitterVerse is rejoicing...
The evening had concluded with a highly competitive game of bowling. It was, without a doubt, the most intense part of the day. The two of them went at it…ball for ball. Tosses into the gutter were met with the most dramatic squeals of pain as they would literally throw themselves on the floor and pound the hardwood. Similarly, spares demanded that they scream loudly as if they had hit the lottery. It went without saying…but a strike…when it came, demanded ruthless hazing of the other to the point where the other patrons were becoming concerned that a fist fight might break out at any moment.
In the end, Kenzi couldn’t remember who won and who lost…that is how close the game had been, but what came next was what was of primary interest to the two of them.
This was a ‘do over’ of one of their first true dates…the night that Sarah literally kidnapped her and took her to a hotel and handcuffed her to a bed. At the time, Kenzi was annoyed and confused by the situation. Sure, she loved Sarah then…but she was actively fighting those feelings, afraid to give in and open her heart completely for fear that this was nothing but another opportunity for someone to reach into her chest and snatch out her heart.
Strangely…that is just what happened. Sarah had snatched out Kenzi’s heart, but not to crush it underfoot…but to care for and nurture it…to bring her to the realization that she could be loved for who and what she was. All those many months ago that night had stayed with them, remembered as a low point at the start of their relationship. Now, with their marital issues fixed, it was time for a do over of that first date…it was time to turn a sour memory sweet…
