Tales of Monmouth County I: Love and Loss
PROLOGUE:
Under hooking Abby Addiction’s arms as she watched Angie stop Maya Jensen from interfering, Ash shouted down at Abby ”Bow Down, Bitch!” before planting her face first to the mat with The Endgame, rolling her prone body over and pinning her, looking up at the ref as he made the count….
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
Ashley smiled up at him as she unhooked the leg and stood up, Angie now making her way into the ring. Grabbing her arm, Ashley raised it skywards before pulling her friend in for a deep hug, making sure to not come into any contact with her headguard. The girl had taken an absolutely hellacious chair shot from a man a few days before and had only just been medically cleared to wrestle, provided she wore protection. Pulling her in a little, she whispered.
Ashley Williams
”I love you, you little maniac!”
Angelica Vaughn
”Umm, what about Katie?”
Ashley Williams
”Not like that, you goof!”
Ashley smiled at her, beaming with pride for this young lady, who had, in the space of a year been three things to the thirty year old New Jersey native. Firstly, her student, when Ash had taken the plunge on her, inviting her to live in her spacious mansion, training her to become the New Future. Secondly, her tag team partner in a tag team that in their previous incarnations had been good, but never quite good enough. Thirdly, her best friend.
Bringing their arms back down, listening to the cheers from the crowd, Angie spoke.
Angelica Vaughn
”Do you think we’ve proven our point?”
Ashley nodded as she let go of Angelica’s arm and they made their way out of the ring and back up the entryway, disappearing behind the curtain.

”When you think about it he's watching
every word you say hey, dazed. And when
He's sussed you out he calls her up and out

Walking into the little bar, the first thing Ashley noticed was the busgirl, how she seemed to be scoping out the entire room, and not in the way a busgirl should be. Taking Emily by the hand, she walked up to the bar, ordering two lagers, watching as the bartender yelled something to the busgirl, a word that she didn’t quite understand. Paying it no mind and just reasoning that they were in another country and barely knew the lingo around the place, Ash lead Em over to a table, taking a sip of her beer.
Ashley Williams
”I’m so glad Mom and Dad like you, Em. I was so worried that Mom was going to just send us away, best weekend ever, if I may say. Jeez, Em, if you ever left me, I don’t know what I’d do, I love you so much” She said, reaching over and taking the pretty blonde’s hand in her own, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
Emily Taylor
”The way you spoke about your Mom made me a little bit scared if I’m honest, but she’s lovely, babe. Your dad? Well, if it wasn’t gonna be weird between us, I’d ask him to adopt me!” She said with a warm smile as she took a sip of her own beer.
Emily Taylor
”Ash! Look at that!” She said, pointing over to the busgirl, who seemed to be helping herself to a very inebriated persons’ wallet, then to the bartender, who appeared to be paying no mind to it. In fact, it seemed he was encouraging her.
SERIES OF GRAVE ROBBERIES STUNS LOCALS!
That had been the headline Ashley had read online just a few days before the events in the bar. Seriously, what was wrong with some people? Robbing the graves of bodies dismembered? She was stunned that anyone out there could be that sick in the head. Yet, here she was, in the very same country these grave robbings had taken place.
As they watched, it continued to happen to all of the patrons of the bar, the bartender beginning to yell the same word Ash had heard earlier as the busgirl resumed her work, rifling through the wallets and jewelry of anyone who had been a little three sheets to the wind.
Ashley Williams
”Follow me, this shit ain’t happening to us, but, I’m gonna get this fucker at his own game” Had been her words to the now slightly scared Emily.
Ashley Williams
”Just follow my lead” She said as she walked over, Emily’s hand in hers as they made their way to the bar, ordering another drink at the bar.
”He watched the lesbian talk she kissed and
groped but mostly talked in lust. Crushed.
He couldn't make the call his eyes were
Gripped on licking tongues. Enough's enough
Failed for once”
Kelly Jones 1999
Ashley Williams
”Hey, we noticed you keep staring at us, handsome? You know we’re not into guys, right?” She said as she patted Emily’s ass, her girlfriend flinching slightly from the surprise but playing along by grabbing Ashley’s ass, the two of them launching into a passionate kiss as they watched him watching them, completely distracted.
Ashley Williams
”Although, we’d love to have a threesome with a guy, ‘cos ya know, we do kinda miss the sensation, if you know what I mean” Ash said with a devilish wink as she gave Emily’s clothed breast a light squeeze. The bartender taking off his apron as he made his way around to their side of the bar, the busgirl giving him an evil look as he began to dance with the two lesbians, gyrating with them. Suddenly, there was a slap aimed his way and not by either Ashley or Emily.
Ashley smirked, grabbing a handful of cash from the busgirl’s pinafore as she was busy slapping her boyfriend around the face. Emily, even surprising herself, did the same as they both ran for their lives, easily in possession of a couple of hundred dollars.
SCENE TWO: Nothing Precious At All
INVOLVING: Ashley Williams/Claire
LOCATION: Charing Cross, London, UK
CAMERAS: ON/OFF

A/N: This will be written first person as I have a semi, I mean it’s Semi Autobiographical.
”I been people watching again
Think they watch me too
There's a new girl at the coffee house
She's got first day blues
She's got red hair and a motorbike
And lime green shoes
A mohair hat and a summers dress
And black tattoos”
Kelly Jones 2003
I remember the day, clear as that. I’d walked into the local Starbucks and laid eyes on her for the first time. Lime green shoes, a mohair hat, red hair, absolutely gorgeous. And, first day blues. I fell for her instantly.
Now you’d think, aww, shucks. Nuh uh, I was still with Emily. Yeah, the gorgeous blonde that had helped me rob a bar in Cambodia.
Ordering a coffee from her had been sure hell because I couldn’t take my eyes off of her as I ordered my venti Caramel Macchiato and she knew it, because she was staring at me in the just the same way, although as I sit here writing this, five something years later, we were never going to tell each other our true feelings.
I’m not gonna lie and tell you that I didn’t feel creepy the first few times that I went in there to order a coffee and just spend time watching her, I’m a people watcher, sometimes it’s the best way to gauge a person. I went in there and watched her (And other people, of course, I’m not a complete freak) for a few days, before she came over to me and sat down at the table, engaging me in conversation that caused me to be late picking Emily up from her place of work. We spoke for forty five minutes and every time we made eye contact I felt like melting. Suffice to say I got to Emily very late and the excuse wasn’t great, buckos… She saw straight through me, she thought I’d been taking in one of London’s many fine pubs. Escaped that time.
The conversations continued over a number of months and I swear to God, she was into me as much as I was into her, you see, when you make a Macchiato, you draw a little drizzle of caramel sauce across the top of the foamed milk. She’d started drawing other things, solely for me, a spider web because we’d been discussing our mutual love of Spider-Man. A love heart on Valentine’s Day that I could not even respond to for fear of cheating on Emily.
I was just about ready to make the jump (I’m sorry guys, I’m not perfect) when one of her colleagues, who had seen Emily and I wandering around London together, spilled the beans. The heartbreak in her eyes was enough to nearly kill me and for weeks, I wanted to kill myself (Not the first time folks), I’d hurt the woman that I actually really did care for most, her name was Claire.
Looking back, sitting in this hotel room, today, I still miss her and honestly believe that if I had only been more truthful with her. If I’d told her my true feelings, I wouldn’t be in this hotel room right now, writing this silly memoir, not missing Emily one bit. Bitch! She fucked my life up.
”Is she a loner or a mother's girl?
That's up to you
She got fine lines round her tired eyes
And they're painted blue
She could sleep around with anyone
If she wanted to
Gotta go my time is up right now
Got stuff to do”

SCENE THREE: A Minute Longer
INVOLVING: Ashley Williams/Katie Anderson
LOCATION: Las Vegas, NV
CAMERAS: ON/OFF
Recommended Listening: Stereophonics-Performance and Cocktails
”Think I'd like to stay a minute longer
Would you like to stay a minute longer?”
Kelly Jones 1999
One look, that was all it took. It was one of those stupid after show parties that Ashley hated to attend. Claire was a long lost memory, as was Emily. Gabriel Griffin had stolen her heart by this point and she loved him, really adored him, in fact. He had done everything that no man had been able to do for her since Scott back in 2007, he’d made her happy.
Until that night. That one look. She was the most beautiful thing Ashley had seen in her whole life. Katie Anderson was the name that Ash kept hearing bouncing around about her, people were talking about her like she was Diana Prince.
She’d seen her across the room, wearing this amazing Diamante studded black dress that showed every inch of her curves perfectly. It wasn’t just that though, Ash could see how she carried herself. It was like watching a Goddess mingle in with her followers and show them the same grace she would have given with her own kind.
Deciding to take the bull by the horns, she walked over, shaking all of the feelings away. On her arrival, Katie looked at her with a broad smile. Ashley spoke. Well, kinda spoke.
Ashley Williams
”I, um, uh, hi”
Katie smiled, taking Ashley to the bar, ordering her a drink. They then went back to a table, sitting and continuing the conversation.
Katie Anderson
”You know, you really need to calm down those nerves, it doesn’t suit you. I’m certainly not going to bite you, you’re like a rabbit caught in the headlights. I know that’s not the real you, I’ve watched a couple of your tapes and you came across as really confident. Now, you’re coming across as if you’re scared that I’m going to hit you if you say something untoward, no offense”
Ashley’s face went a shade of pink and she took a sip of the drink Katie bought her. She was confused again and just wanted to be in Gabriel’s arms, to have him reassure her that everything was OK and that Katie Anderson was in fact just a mere mortal and was not attractive in any way, shape or form.
Ashley Williams
”Oh look! Is that the time? I’d love to stay a minute longer, but I really do have to go and speak to Lucas” She lied, just wanting to get away, not from the woman, but away from the embarrassment that she was ultimately going to cause herself if she’d carried on with the conversation.
Katie reached for her and caught hold of her arm, electricity coursing through every inch of Ashley’s body at the touch of this woman. Ashley looked down and straight into Katie’s eyes. Well, that was it, she was in love. Love at first sight was a phrase that was so sorely misused, but this time, Ashley knew it was true, there was certainly no need for the brunette beauty to walk past again, she had Ash, hook, line, and sinker. Katie leaned down, grabbing a pen, and jotting her number onto Ashley’s arm.
Katie Anderson
”Write it down, and wash that off, we don’t want Gabriel thinking you’re up to something when you’re not” She said, pulling Ashley in and whispering the next part.
Katie Anderson
”Unless you want to be up to something” She said as Ashley looked at her again, going pink in the cheeks again. Katie, in response, simply winked at her, her ruby red lips so seductive.
Katie Anderson
”I hope to see you around, Miss Williams”
Ashley Williams
”Um, yeah” Had been Ashley’s response as she necked the rest of her champagne and fled for the door.
Later, sitting alone in her hotel room, the only thing Ashley could think about was Katie. The way she carried herself, her beautiful smile and of course, her last words to her before she fled. That had been the first night she had masturbated to a woman in years. If Ashley had only stayed a minute longer, Katie probably would have been in her hotel room with her.
”Think I'd like to stay a minute longer
If you’d like I’ll stay a minute longer”
Kelly Jones 1999
This began to be a trend for Ashley for the next few weeks, her mind unable to divert itself from anything that wasn’t Katie Anderson. Every time on social media she’d see her and was having to rush to the shower and do something about it. Then came the “ass battle” for the ages. Posting pictures of her ass had never really been something Ash ever thought social media should be used for, but Katie had laid the gauntlet down by posting a picture of her own posterior, not for Ashley’s benefit, but for everyone’s. It was about a day before this that Ash had been wrestling with her own mind about whether to text that bloody number. To tell Katie that she had feelings for her.
When all was said and done, Ash bottled it, she couldn’t send the text. Not because it would be betraying Gabriel but because she didn’t want Katie to know how she felt via a text message.
The world came crashing down when she went back on her word and texted. Just five little words, but damaging words, “I have feelings for you”. Damaging in that if Katie was indeed just teasing her, it would mean that she would have ammo against her. Also damaging in the fact that it could cause a lot of hurt for Gabriel. Instead, she got an invite out to a club, then it had gone off from there.
They’d made love the first time that same evening of the club and it had woken up a long latent feeling in Ashley, she had been touched again, the way a woman would want to be touched. She had felt the same outpouring of love that she was trying to give back to Katie.
Two days later, Ashley had woken up to this text message and had responded with a “I'LL ALWAYS WAIT”
After a long talk, they had gotten together and made it official shortly afterwards. Within sixty days, they had broken up, gotten back together with each other, and had become engaged to be married.
…..A minute longer…..That’s all that could have changed that situation.
SCENE FOUR: The Ballad of The Mighty I
INVOLVING: Emily Lawrence/Angelica Vaughn/Ashley Williams
LOCATION: Las Vegas, NV
CAMERAS:ON/OFF
Recommended Listening: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds: Chasing Yesterday
”Followed you down to the end of the world
To wait outside your window
In the heat of the rain I would call your name
But you just passed me by
If you put me up like a fly on the wall
Then you'll be to blame when the heavens fall”
Noel Gallagher 2015
The returning Emily Lawrence steps forward, a microphone in her hand. It has been weeks since she had been last seen in an LAW arena of any kind, if at all. However, she is Ashley Williams’ advocate and manager and here, she finds herself on one of the most important nights in her client’s career, in front of an LAW camera.
Emily Lawrence
”Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Emily Lawrence and I am the advocate and manager of the Endgame, Ashley Williams. Now, she doesn’t need me to come out here and detail her accomplishments but, ahead of such an important match, I need to detail not only her achievements but also that of her partner, Angelica Vaughn. You see, both of these women can each claim to be a Queen, both of these women have stepped into that ring and they have left it all out there in that VERY ring. Each time they step out into that ring, they do it for all of you, whether that be the people in this arena right now, or the people watching on VoD or online or whichever means you watch it by. Ashley herself has won titles because of her conviction to making sure you fans go home happy. Angelica is still current reigning Medal of Honor holder and I know from watching many of her tapes that she does this for ALL OF YOU. She is The Future of Female Wrestling and she gained that name from my client, Ashley Williams”
She stops for the briefest second before carrying on.
Emma Lawrence
”You see. Angelica will sell short her accomplishments, but in my mind one of her most important accomplishments is that she has done the one thing most MALE competitors cannot do……Beat Ashley Williams! Trust me, I watched that match, I saw my client, I saw her lose to the mandible claw. I saw the ferocious little blonde girl have her hand raised in the air. Do you know what else I saw? I saw Ashley Williams looking up at her protégé, her student, with the pride of a mother! Why do you think she chose her as her partner? I have known Ashley Williams long enough to know that when she is beaten, she will have an imprinted mark of respect for that person. It is no different with Angelica Vaughn. Ashley saw something in that young lady from day one and even my indifference to her never once swayed Ashley’s opinion. I am proud to say that I was proven wrong. Angelica Vaughn has as much a right to be in that squared circle than anyone else, moreso in fact, the girl is a tough little bitch. With that being said, I am proud to present to you…….VAUGHN! WILLIAMS! The QUEENS OF WRESTLING!”
Both Queens, clad in the black and gold wrestling gear, walked from around the corner, each taking microphones, Ashley giving Emily a hug before she disappeared off camera. Ashley raised the microphone to her ebony tinged lips, speaking.
Ashley Williams
”Boardwalk Angels…We’ve already told you time and time again that we respect you. You have amassed an incredible title reign. You’ve proven everyone wrong time and time again and you’ve walked away looking like bigger stars than you were when you entered the match.
You’ve also paid us a tremendous amount of respect, we even call you friends. It was just Halloween a few weeks ago when we were invited to your party and we had all kinds of fun, you two have been so welcoming to us, as has Crystal. We don’t forget stuff like that. However, Ange?”
Angelica Vaughn
”The fact remains, this isn’t about respect, this about those two shiny belts”
Ashley Williams
”Championships”
Angelica Vaughn
”Sorry Ash, Championships. This is no longer about respect, this is more about two teams of women that are willing to KILL each other for the chance to hold those championships! You see, Zoey, Farrah, you’re good, maybe the greatest in fact. But do you ever stop to wonder…Why are you so good?”
She takes a sip of water, before continuing, Ashley standing by and egging her on.
Angelica Vaughn
”Look through all the teams that have ever challenged you….Every one of those teams have fallen by the wayside, some have even fallen to US! The reality is, respect aside, you have never faced a team like Queens of Wrestling before! We are the team that you wake up from nightmares of, the sweat dripping from your forehead as you thank yourself that it was all just a dream. Ashley said it best when she asked the question, who do you think were Nero’s backup players while Rome was burning. Ash?”
Ashley Williams
”Miss Vaughn is bang on with her assessment. We love you to bits girls, always will, but this is two shiny championships. You speak about knowing that we will have our time? That is the utmost mark of respect and I offer my same respect in kind, however, your assessment that the twenty sixth is not that time? That is EXACTLY our time!”
”Show me the rules of the games you play
And I'll be here waiting, come what may
I'll find you (I'll find you)
Yes I'll find you (Yes I'll find you)
If I got to be the man who walks the earth
I'll find you (I'll find you)
Yes I'll find you (Yes I'll find you)
If I've got to be the man who walks the earth alone”
Noel Gallagher 2015
Ashley Williams
”We have worked too damned hard to lose. Many people will say that we got our shot too soon, much like you actually think, but we have actually deserved ours, we have beaten everyone in front of us, they have laid bleeding to death on swords. They have laid dying because of the Queens of Wrestling. Now respect goes out of the window because you have to ask yourselves, would a team really be willing to leave bodies in their wake, not treat you the same way? Do you think we look across the ring and see friends? If you do you’re more naïve than I thought. We look across that ring and we see enemies. We see the two ladies that block our way to glory.”
She paused, taking a drink of her own water.
Ashley Williams
”People seem to think this is the path to glory, this business. We earn shitloads of money is one verdict. I’ve loved and lost far too many people in the pursuit of glory in this business. I have lost the trust of girlfriends, boyfriends, heck, my own mother. Now, I stand here in front of you, with Angelica Vaughn, on the day of my reckoning. Where does this go? Did I just spit over everyone that has ever loved or trusted me or do I ultimately prove them wrong? Is tomorrow the night when I and Angelica Vaughn finally realise our destiny? Is tomorrow night the night when we raise those titles above our heads, not only champions, but the team that finally managed to dethrone The Boardwalk Angels? Ange?”
Angelica Vaughn
”Two teams walk into this match, one team walks out. Boardwalk Angels, get ready to experience a punishment you are NOT going to like. We’re here for your titles. We are Vaughn, Williams….The QoW!”
With this, the Queens of Wrestling and their advocate, Emily Lawrence walked off.
