SCENE 1: January 12th, 2018 (Rapid Falls, SD)
The scene opens up in a graveyard in the early hours of dusk. The lights have just come on as the moon is currently covered by clouds. The soft crunch of gravel can be heard as the camera finds Elizabeth Blackwell. She has on black pants and a black shirt, her red hair tied back in a ponytail. She is carrying a small bouquet of flowers as she walks up to a grave. She sets the flowers down next to it and takes a moment to pull a few weeds from the grave and remove the dead flowers, tossing them into a nearby trash can. She kneels down by the grave and looks at the tombstone that reads: Judith Blackwell. Loving wife and mother. January 12th, 1939 - April 8th, 2015. Elizabeth takes a deep breath before smiling at the grave.
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
Hi mom. Sorry it has been a while since the last time I visited. With Annie’s training and getting ready for Sole Survivor, I spent a lot of time in Vegas getting prepared. Prepared for nothing as it seems as HSW closed on us, Christy disappearing without a trace. My career there was over before it even begun. And worst than that, I didn’t get my revenge on Monica. My so called best friend who abandoned me after I was adopted. But you always taught me to never give up. So I found a place that Monica’s little girlfriend wrestles in. And I’m going to take it over. So I’ll be ready for her when she returns. And hopefully Monica won’t be far behind.
Elizabeth absentmindedly pulls a few more small weeds that had barely started peaking above the dirt on the mound.
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
I know this isn’t the future you wanted for me. Trust me, dad tells me that all the time. I’m suppose to go to college and get a career. Be a lawyer or doctor or something like that. But I’m still young mom. I have plenty of time to do the whole college thing. For right now, I want to wrestle. I want to be a superstar. Annie has let me hold her Women’s title and I love the feeling of it. And even though I’m not where I first wanted to be, I will make LAW my home. I’ll make new friends and challenge top opponents. I just hope you are up there cheering me on. It’ll make me feel a lot better to know that you have my back. Like you have since the day you adopted me almost seven years ago. I’m winning my debut for you mom. In honor of you and everything you did for this poor little orphan, I’ll crush Clementine.
Elizabeth seems content as she swings her legs around and sits cross legged in front of the grave.
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
There isn’t really much I can say about this Clementine chick. She hasn’t been seen since she signed her contract. I have a feeling she is one of those people who sign a bunch of contracts and spreads herself to thin. That and she knows I’m a rookie. That I’ve never had a real match outside of training at CWA or when Annie would drag me into the ring to toss me around for a while. She probably thinks she has an easy time with me. Hit me with her little Rock Lobster or her Headhunter finisher and call it a night. What she doesn’t see is that I am focused. And long before she can start her silly little games, I’ll have her seeing Red. I’ll be the winner, getting a little bit of respect from these other wrestlers who haven’t given me any credit yet because I’m new. Maybe I’ll turn a few heads then. When I welcome Clementine to her nightmare.
Elizabeth looks up at the night sky, the moon hidden behind some clouds but a few stars shining though She looks back at the grave with a smile
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
You will be happy to know I’ve made a good friend. Her name is Annie and although she has a real tough demeanor, she is a good person deep inside. Deep deep inside. And her sister is a real blast to be around. She has done a lot for me since we met. She pushes me really hard to be better and go farther than I ever thought I could. She kind of reminds me a lot of you mom. She doesn’t take anyone’s shit and does and says pretty much whatever she wants. I think you’d like her. As long as the two of you didn’t butt heads. I haven’t introduced her to dad yet. I’m not sure he will like her like you would have. Guess I will eventually.
She glances at her phone, checking the time. She sighs heavily as she pushes herself to her feet, looking down at the grave.
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
Well mom I hate to cut this short but I need to get back to the house. I have an early morning flight to go to Washington DC for Law tomorrow. I’m really nervous. I’ve been waiting over two years for this. I just hope I can make you proud mom. I’ll stop by and tell you all about it next week. Oh and….
Elizabeth kisses her hand and pats the top of the grave, tears forming in her eyes.
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
Happy Birthday mom.
Elizabeth wipes her eyes as she lays the fresh roses down on her grave. She turns and walks away from the grave, the camera staying on the grave a few moments before fading away.
