Makikins The Vlog.
1st February 2018.
Hilton Continental, Hotel room.
Sitting on a bright red couch in her hotel room, we see Melissa Aki come alive. She is dressed in just her red bra and knickers. Her legs are crossed and she is sipping a Green tea. Her left eye is bandaged up down to her left cheekbone. She smiles thinly.
“Welcome again to The Makikins Vlog. Sorry for my appearance. Last night someone threw a fireball at my face. Don’t worry I am fine. She will get her comeuppance."
Her face darkened, an inner resolve took over and she knew it was time to put the brakes on the comedic side of her personality.
“What happened on Law 76 was an abhorrent and corrupt official. I totally had my shoulder up but once again my first victory here in L.A.W eludes me. Bravo Lizzy but signs are pointing to someone high up here trying to stop the ascension of The Maki Express! Etsuko and Kenzi they are on my hit list but first let’s talk about Law 77!”
She sips her tea, uncrosses her legs and stretches her toes absently, spilling her small cleavage in the process.
“So finally after almost a year since I was invited by Sam Tolson to watch her match in person with Alicia Lukas. I sat there in awe watching these two give a match for the ages. I knew what Sam had and has to offer in the ring but the person I had heard so much internet talk about was Alicia. Our paths had never crossed. So this was a chance to see her up close and personal. Yes, obviously, I was slightly turned on by her arse but then I was by Sam’s as well.
Dear viewers, as you are well aware, at this time I was in a different federation and made a handful of friends outside of it. I resolved that night to get out of the cult and forge my own path to one day face both of them. Sure my future match with Sam is yet to happen but it will. I was fascinated sitting there seeing Alicia perform. She was pure fight, ambition, never backing down for one second. She has a multitude of ways to hurt you. “
Sipping her green tea she adjusts her underwear so as not to give anyone a glimpse, she ponders that night and what she did to get to this point.
“I resolved to work somewhere else, somewhere Alicia was. Some of you may be unaware but I have only just turned twenty four and been a professional wrestler for five years. So I am constantly learning and evolving and who better to have as a mentor than Ali. I admit in the time as a pro I have done more than I ever dreamed of but Ali is a winner and I need that killer instinct to do whatever it takes and stop being comedic.
This is the lesson I am learning. We have fought on the same side, become friends who have some heated moments but in the end we both respect the hell out of each other even if that word is overused these days. It’s a mutual regard for what each other brings to the dance. Yet, they seemed to be unwilling to match us against each other. We both wanted it but the General Manager obviously didn’t.”
She looked down at her tea, at the abrasions on her legs. She felt lonely in this wide hotel room without her girlfriend or a friend to hang out with and look after her but more importantly she was looking forward to facing Ali.
“I signed for L.A.W to face Kenzi. I admit it. I want her title. I want to swim with these onerous sharks. I want a real match with her but on the day my contract was approved Ali posted that she had signed hers too. I was elated. Another friend here but I knew Ali is cut throat and will be forcing her way to a title shot by demands or by her matches and she would get it. She is a title grabbing Queen. I would be left in the dust until that day when we would face off.
On Wednesday I received this email that stated I would be going back to Florida. Yay! My old stomping ground. The next line left me shocked, then slowly but surely I got more and more excited. My time to face Alicia Lukas is here! I am elated, worried, excited, sad, happy and all that gamut of emotions that comes when you get to fight your idol, your mentor, your heroine. “
A sick smile crept across her lips as she licked her own chin thinking about this match, the match she has wanted for so long.
“I know you keep saying I am not the underdog here Ali but we both know the truth. Of course I am. You are a multiple champion, the number one woman in every federation you have been in. Don’t get it wrong I am not saying I will lay down or tap for you as I have only ever tapped once and will not do so again.
I also do not want you or anyone else to believe that I am easy pickings. I am not an easy victory on your way to whichever LAW title you want. Again it’s something we both know as this will be hard hitting, shoot fighting, painful match. We will both be in a significant amount of pain at the end of it.
Problem I have is that if I lose this match, which I won’t, as I will be forced to knock you out but if I do that will be three matches without a win here. Which would have to make me ponder about what I am doing here if I cannot win. I understand losses are there to help you improve and learn from them and your mistakes but there is only so much I can take. “
She sips her tea and leans back into the couch, thoughts running through her mind about her place in LAW and if she should leave or not.
“Time waits for no one and I am getting older but am I getting better? Then again life isn’t about finding yourself it’s about creating yourself. I have created this image, this persona to the world and no Kenz I am not talking about Daniela. I am talking about this fun loving, cheeky, funny, crazy version of Melissa Aki. Has it worked out for me?
I used to be a big fish in a very small pond. People were scared of me, they didn’t want to face me because I was sexy, tough and insane. Being funny and clumsy took them off their game. Now I am fighting in a multitude of federations and in all of them I am middling around, losing title shots, losing number one contenders matches. Why? I am being far too lenient on people.
Yes I give them a hell of a match and we blow the roof off every joint but when you think about it what good is that when I am lumbering around the no title zone? I win some I lose some. Too good to be a jobber or a curtain opener but not good enough to be a title holder or be the face of the division. Something needs to change and what better place to do that than getting my first victory in LAW against my good friend Alicia Lukas. Whatever happens Ali, we will laugh, we will hug and we will get drunk after. Friends before. Friends after. During the match it will be WAR! “
Her phone rings, she frowns, picks it up and presses the green button.
“Hello…yes…So Sidney Grey has no lawful paranormal right for the order? Good. Shove that up her hairy flaps….Yes of course. Sorry. What! That isn’t legal surely. DO YOUR JOB! I do not give a shit about restraining orders! I will see Kenzi whether you like it or not. I am Sarah’s wife’s girlfriend after all!”
She throws the phone against the wall and in her anger she turns the camera off.
