Starring Trisha VanReardon
Featuring Sidney Grey
CTN Studios
June 2016
The scene opened as Trisha VanReardon walked out on stage with a broad smile on her face. This show was going to be different…and she was insanely happy about that. “HELLO EVERYONE!!! Welcome to a VERY special edition of The Hot Seat!” The crowd roared and cheered.
“As many of you know…I shared a very special professional and personal relationship with Sidney Grey…a former television personality here at CTN. Last year was a tough one for me because she was hit and severely injured by a hit and run driver.” Trisha seemed to tear up a bit, but she worked through it. “After nearly a year of uncertainty…she finally returned…and she is here with us all today!”
The fans clapped and cheered as Trisha got on with the introduction. “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome LAW’s uncrowned queen…and my personal friend…SIDNEY GREY!”
The crowd cheered as Sidney was wheeled out by Dana and Dinah O’Connell, the duo known as The Sisterhood. Trisha ran over and hugged Sidney and the two shared an exchange of pleasantries before she was pushed over next to the Hot Seat. Sidney eyed the large black chair, then looked over at Trisha, “Looks like we will be forgoing this today, huh?”
A trio of stagehands rushed out and quickly pulled the ominous seat off the stage. Sidney smiled as she laced her fingers and prepared for the interview. “Before we get started, I want to tell you…I really missed you Trisha, and I am so glad that you are giving me this time here today. I really appreciate it!”

Trisha waved off Sidney’s complement, “You are the reason we are here…we all want to hear what you have to say about a great many things that took place at Validation…as well as what transpired while you were gone.” She rubbed her hands together with anticipation, “There’s no need to put this off any longer…so if you don’t mind…I’d like to just jump right in.”
Sidney waived for her to continue and Trisha smiled as she fired off the first of five questions. “Sidney…I really hate to reopen the subject of what happened to you that night in Portland, I mean…you really seemed to lay it all out there at Validation when you confirmed that the person who had run you down was Hannah Paul, your daughter’s roommate…but there seemed to be a moment there where it seemed that there was more to the story. Are you sure that Hannah Paul, and she alone was responsible for the hit and run that injured you?”
Sidney arched her brow, clearly not at all happy with the question, but The Hot Seat was always filled with uncomfortable questions. Sidney sat up as straight as she could as she stared directly into Trisha’s eyes, “I told the entire world last Sunday night who I saw behind the wheel of the car that hit me and that person was Hannah Paul. That deviant bloodsucker is behind bars, where she belongs…and probably where she is enjoying every single moment of her incarceration!”
Sidney shrugged, “I lost a year of my life because that viper wanted to get her hooks into my daughter…her and Alex Yin with their sick lifestyle! Truth be told…if I could find a way to put Yin in jail alongside her, I would do it in a heartbeat! Between the two of them…they bent and twisted my daughter…then Alex simply threw her away after she was done using her for her sick pleasure!” The crowd booed, knowing that Alex wasn’t at all a deviant, as Sidney was making her out to be.
Sidney turned to the crowd, “YOU PEOPLE CAN ALL GO FUCK YOURSELVES!! Kenzi is MY CHILD! It’s my job to protect and nurture her and because of the actions of Hannah Paul, I wasn’t able to do that! I was lying in a hospital bed at death’s door while those lesbian sickos were corrupting my daughter and making her think that she was one of them!” She rolled her eyes, “Well…it was fitting that I woke up on Mother’s Day…and it was just as fitting that I returned to LAW at Validation! Now…at long last…my daughter has someone here that really and truly cares about her…someone who is going to put her on the right path to success in this business!”

Trisha nodded in agreement, even though her audience continued to be angered by Sidney’s vile and homophobic words. “So…now that you have returned to LAW, it seems clear that you mean to mentor Kenzi…but does that mean you’ll be doing it behind the scenes?” She gestured towards the wheelchair that she was confined to. “Are you looking to return to actual competition?”
Sidney nodded, “From here on out…I will be the one guiding my daughter’s career…out of the ring and in LAW. She’s been without a firm hand for quite a while and you can all see how that has ended up, can’t you? I’m going to change all of that…I am going to change Kenzi Grey…for the better.”
Sidney placed her hands on her legs and gave them a good pat, “As for me? Well, I would love nothing better than to get back into the ring. As a matter of a fact, I have already had a challenge thrown my way from Jenny Tuck…the piece of shit cunt that tried to ruin my daughter’s life!” Sidney’s face flushed a bit as she tensed, visibly. “I don’t know where that washed up second rate wannabe Playmate gets off going after a girl half her age and twice her better…but if she thinks for a moment that I won’t find a way to get out of this chair and put a hurting on her…she doesn’t know who the fuck I am! I’ve retired more women than Social Security and I’d be more than happy to do the same to her if she ever comes near my child again!”
Sidney smiled, “If she thought that what happened to her at Validation was humiliating…she hasn’t seen anything yet!”

Trisha nodded, “Let’s talk about Validation for a moment. You were responsible for bringing Kenzi back and putting her in that match…” she paused, “…a match that was designed to leave her no room to escape…let alone win. She was essentially thrown to the wolves and Keira Fisher just beat the hell out of her…doing her best to cripple the girl. How were you able to sit in the back and watch that…and what did you think of the ending of that match?”
Sidney stroked her chin as she considered Trisha’s question. She took her time as she carefully answered the question, “I’m a mother…first and foremost. It broke my heart to see Kenzi out there in a match that was clearly made with a single brutal purpose…to humiliate and injure my daughter!” Sidney sighed, “I wish that I could have been there to help her…but that wasn’t what she needed. She needed to realize that she could stand on her own two feet and that is what she did. I might not have been the prettiest of wins…but it was a win, nonetheless and it showed everyone in LAW that there is potential in her. For anyone who didn’t think it was there, that match should have left no doubt. She endured more than any other woman could have and in the end…she had her hand raised in victory.” Sidney dabbed at her eyes with a handkerchief offered by Dana. “In that match I realized that she did have what it takes to make it in this sport…the only thing that was missing was an experienced and guiding hand. I’m going to be the one to give her that.”

Trisha didn’t want to be antagonistic with Sidney, but she felt that she really needed to get to the bottom of things concerning Kenzi’s match and the outcome, since it had been the subject of so much discussion on social media. “Sid…the ending of that match against Keira…” she paused, trying to be a gentle as possible, “…I know that Kenzi is your daughter and you’re proud of her…win…but can you honestly sit here and say that she really earned that victory? I mean…she passed out…the match was over until Dazi Miyashita was forced to reverse the decision.”
Sidney looked at Trisha for a moment or two before she finally answered, “I will grant you this…and this only; Kenzi may have gotten caught in a hold by Keira Fisher…and for all intents and purposes, she might have blacked out for a moment or two…but at the end of the day, all people really need to know is that she never gave up! I know that it is hard to tell from the angle of the camera, but Kenzi managed to reverse that hold and it was Keira that quit and that’s why my daughter walked…limped out of Validation with the win and a golden ticket to the next level of competition.”

Trisha tried to hide the fact that she really wasn’t buying any of what her friend had just said about Kenzi’s ‘win’ but she had no choice but to accept it. “Well then…final question.” She looked behind Sidney at Dana and Dinah, then back to her guest. “You said that Kenzi had a golden ticket to the next level in LAW…and I assume that these two ladies here are all part of that. What’s next for you and for Kenzi?”
Sidney smiled, “Well…there has been a decided lack of respect for my daughter in LAW for some time…but that is going to come to an end. My daughter is far and above the most popular star in LAW because of her work outside the ring…work that I am going to help promote. Now, it’s time that LAW finally reversed its systemic bias towards my child and it made good by putting her in high profile matches for championships that she rightly deserves!”
Sidney shrugged her shoulders, “I don’t care for the woman at all…but out of all the people in LAW, Ashley Marie Chase was the only one that ever got it right where my daughter was concerned! She said that Kenzi was a star and she was ready to carry gold in LAW…now that I’m here…that is going to become a reality!”

Trisha stood up and walked over to Sidney, bent down and hugged her. Again, the two women shared a private exchange before Trisha turned to the crowd. “Okay folks, that is going to do it for our show today. I’d like to thank our guest, Ms. Sidney Grey!” The crowd gave a mixed, but generous response. “Be sure to join us next time…right here on ‘The Hot Seat!’ GOOD BYE EVERYONE!”
