AS REPORTED ON SEVERAL WRESTLE-ZINE WEBSITES:
Unconfirmed rumors are hinting that disciplinary action may be taken upon Jamilyn Cornett, who wrestles in LAW as JMC, with an official announcement of indefinite suspension or even termination expected to take place during LAW 50.
Since her official contract signing back at Validation 2016, Cornett has been the subject of increasing controversy. While the exact nature of what she is being punished for is not being disclosed, unofficial sources close to LAW management are saying that the logic they plan to use is for 'ethical and moral violations in accordance with standard LAW contracts.' This hints that it is either Cornett's promiscuity outside the company, her recent plot against fellow LAW talent Kenzi Grey, or her recent signing with Visionaries of Wrestling, whose employees, at least according to feelers between companies, have been far more welcoming of Cornett than the LAW locker room has.
The news has infuriated the IWC, who are quick to point out that even in Cornett's worst moments in the company thus far, her antics have been relatively minor compared to some of LAW's other talents. One fan on Reddit compared Cornett to Grey, pointing out, "Kenzi has ran over people with cars, assaulted wrestlers, and has been a general destructive force since she arrived in LAW to begin with. How is she getting a free pass to still do whatever she wants, while Jami's already being considered for termination before she's even had her second match? Who exactly is Sidney Grey paying to keep her daughter's job?! And let's not even get into Crystal Hilton's past actions...but hey, that must be okay, since...." For decency reasons, the rest of the comment will not be repeated.
A second offered an alternative reason that ties in to that theory. "I think that bitch Megan (Helms-King, LAW General Manager) is trying to get Jami fired since her tests came back clean. Been kinda weird she's been picking on Jami specifically on Twitter, what with that 'contract dispute' and all. Don't remember anyone else being forced to deal with theirs...suddenly the green girl gotta change hers up?" The contract dispute in question was a clause in Cornett's contract absolving LAW of having to pay her any money, that income instead going toward homeless shelters for teens; Helms-King made it rather known that she took issue with the gesture, citing liability concerns, despite the fact that said clause, word for word, had been used in every contract drawn up by Cornett's lawyer without incident up to this point. It's also worth noting that Cornett's mental state, which as been noted as being strikingly similar to Grey's, has been all but ignored by Helms-King, at least in public, and even caused her to initiate a drug test for everyone last Saturday, all while she's made more than a few public attempts to assist Grey with her situation.
Other fans have a more interesting conspiracy theory, and unfortunately, this one seems to have plenty of traction. A memo from mid-level staff at LAW recently leaked and, if it's accurate, implies that Cornett may have to give up her promiscuous lifestyle in order to keep her job. The memo reads that, effective July 10th (the night of LAW 50), "we now consider excessive fraternization to be and 'ethical and moral violations', according to article 5, subsection 13, paragraph 3 of the LAW contract." The memo goes on to read that "there is no grandfathering clause...all contracted LAW wrestlers must adhere to this standard." Going even further, the leaker of this memo, who goes by the Reddit name 'fruitpuncher17' (who has successfully leaked several details of LAW's office inner-workings before) further states that they've been at more than a few meetings where staff have made negative connotations of Cornett's promiscuity as the core reason this language is being adopted, and they have even hinted that more than one person has suggested that either Cornett be forced into a monogamous relationship with longtime girlfriend and tag team partner Kate Bass by Queen of the Ring or consider herself terminated from LAW. They conclude with a summary that has garnered twenty-thousand likes: "I love how, during [Cornett's] time in UXW, all these people could do was talk about how much they wanted to bring her and Juliana [Winters, Cornett's then-girlfriend under the name AmI Syco] as a tag team, but now that she's actually here, this company seems to be willing to do almost anything to get rid of her, even forcing her to make lifestyle choices she may not be capable of agreeing with!"
But lest you think the fans are all behind Cornett on this one, a few have pointed out that her actions toward Grey were bad even by Grey's standards. "What kind of bitch manipulates someone to fall in love with them?" one Youtube comment read. "Kenzi may be a lot of things, but that's a new low even for her."
"The only reason Cornett's even employed in LAW to begin with is because of Roxi and Keira (Johnson)," a reply came up shortly after. "She's got maybe a quarter of her dad's talent...she's an overglorified whore who thinks she can do anything she wants without reprocussion. I wonder how many favors she had to work to get the talent scout to even try to pay attention, let alone sign her nasty ugly ass."
One fan more or less summed up the entire discussion with a fair assessment; "[LAW] might be in their legal rights to do this, but it smells of cherry-picked slut-shaming, and that's not cool at all...if you're not gonna enforce the rules on everyone at the same level, what's the point of having them at all?"
This isn't to say that there's 100% proof either way; several of the details regarding this supposed suspension are missing, and there's no doubt that, at a time when LAW needs tag teams, suspending or terminating one half of a tag team that's proven to be pretty popular in recent weeks would be an ill-fated move for the company to make, not to mention the absurdity of a company trying to impose a particular brand of relationship for their wrestlers. (Look how well that went over in Vintage Wrestling Club lately.) But with Cornett's erratic behavior, which has only just now started to stabilize, nothing is entirely out of the realm of possibility.
Until LAW 50 happens, all this is speculation, but one thing's for sure....
Cornett's future in LAW could very well hang in the balance soon.
FULL DISCLOSURE: None of Helms-King, Cornett, or any LAW representative have made any official comments on these accusations, nor does it look like they intend to remark anytime soon. All comments have been made by fans on social media and all rumors are considered false until proven otherwise.
