So, as a lot of people have been experiencing, there is a double spacing issue when pasting into ProBoards from a Google Doc. I have a found a much easier fix than opening Notepad or an email (which I found didn't work for me as it kept the double spacing issue). The instructions are as follows.
1. Open a new Document.
2. Type something (the opening paragraph for your roleplay, a letter to your grandmother because you know she misses you, your name, the lyrics to the song you've had stuck in your head for two days now, whatever).
3. Highlight that text.
4. Go to the Format tab at the top of the program. The tab will drop down. You will 'line spacing'.
5. Put your cursor over 'line spacing.' A new tag will open.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
6. You will see, "Add Space Before Paragraph" and "Add Space After Paragraph." You want to click both of these to turn them on. Once those are turn on, your paragraph(s) will change in how they look. The only downfall to this is that if you are used to hitting enter twice to seperate your paragraphs (like me), you will need to stop this as one punch of the enter key will give you the space you desire. If you hit enter twice and then activate the add spacing buttons, you will get double spacing, which is what we are trying to avoid here. You must do this before you type or if you prefer, do not hit enter twice when typing (this is the only way I've found to avoid this). There is no way to do this after you've written, especially if you've hit enter twice - you will fuck up your shit (trust me, I did this and learned the hard way.)
When posting to the ProBoards...
1. Click preview. Make sure you are in the preview box - NOT BBCode. You must paste your work into the PREVIEW PORTION of Create Thread. You will see that your work has no spaces whatsoever. Do not fret!
2. Once that is done, click BBCode. You will see that suddenly you have spaces between your paragraphs.
3. Click Preview once again. TA-DA! You now have a single spaced roleplay on ProBoards.
Whilst it sounds like a lot, it's really not. It is nine simple steps as opposed to opening email or text program or sitting there for hours and deleting the spaces. This is just something I've discovered that works for me. If it helps you and works, great. If not, I'm sorry. Should anyone have any suggestions that make this work better, let me know. Should I discover even more fixes or cheats to counter this glitch, I'll let you know.
Good luck and happy roleplaying!
