REALITY STAR PREPARES FOR POSSIBLE WRESTLING RETURN?
CP Circle Press
In 2012 Grey returned to the world of professional wrestling after a 20 plus year hiatus. The one-time grappler, model, and actress signed an exclusive 1-year contract with Platinum Dynasty Wrestling (PDW) and quickly became a headache for the company. After only a few months as an in-ring performer, Grey’s controversial statements and unpredictable behavior led to a parting of the ways between the two. The details of her release have never been made public. | CTN Press Photo: Sidney Grey |
Prior to her run in PDW, Grey’s last in-ring appearance was in the early 90’s as a member of The North American Wrestling League (NAWL). After suffering an injury and later leaving that company Grey moved on from the sport entirely, seeking her fortunes elsewhere. Grey had a highly touted modeling career and enjoyed some small success in acting before several highly publicized incidents involving drug and alcohol addiction made her an pariah in the industry.
Grey made her return to prominence in 2009 and is currently starring in her own hit reality television show on CTN, “The World According to Sid.” The show follows the antics of Grey, as an aging former model and actress as she attempts to rekindle her career. Many speculate that this recent attempt at a wrestling return is just another publicity stunt to garner more viewers and further sensationalize Grey’s attempts at returning to relevancy. These claims are supposedly bolstered by the idea that Grey is in her middle to late forties and would never be able to compete with women half her age, let alone pass a physical exam which would allow someone in her horrible physical and mental condition to actively compete inside the squared circle.
If the rumors are true, like PDW, LAW may be inheriting more than it bargained for. No stranger to controversy, over the course of the last several years Grey has been the subject of multiple court cases for assault, public lewdness, property damage, and drunken driving. Grey, a self professed functioning alcoholic and recovering drug addict has settled these cases and committed herself to avoiding further run ins with the law, but if history actually does repeat itself LAW may find itself in the middle of her next publicized meltdown. The current roster of LAW stars have proven themselves to be a solid ratings attraction and many of them are viewed as positive role models, however Grey may become a threat to the company’s sterling image…should the rumors prove to be true.
As of the time of this article, there has been no official announcement from the management of LAW or Ms. Sidney Grey.
