The screen comes to life with an image of what can only be described as a highly irritated Kenzi Grey-Lacklan. It is obvious that she was caught in the middle of something and was loath to leave it, but this couldn’t wait.
“Etsuko…first things first, I want to tell you that I more than welcome your challenge. As the former champion, a champion that was not defeated in one-on-one competition, you have every right to demand an opportunity to reclaim the title that you lost. Just like you accepted my challenge months ago, I accept yours as well!”
She is unable to hide the annoyance that seems to multiply with each and every passing second.
“Before I go…you said a few interesting things Etsuko. You called me a ‘false champion’ and you called this title that I now hold a ‘far less greater prize’ than the Marquee Title…”
Kenzi’s face hardens as she glares into the camera.
“Maybe the Breakout Title was a ‘far less greater prize’ as you so eloquently put it, when you were the champion Etsuko. Maybe it was less great because the person that held it was…less great...”
She shrugs her shoulders, and sits forward.
“…or maybe you listen to people like Nova Sinclair who can’t accept the fact that they were beaten for this title and they think that winning one with a different name will somehow mean that it is superior to the belt that I hold…that they are superior to me. Well Etsuko, this Sunday…while you are busy running away from a chance at the Marquee Title, I will be doing something that you should have done when you were Breakout Champion; making this the premier title in Ladies All-Star Wrestling! So, keep listening to people like Nova, people who haven’t been a champion in this sport yet…and more importantly, people who failed to beat me for a championship! In the end…you and the rest of them will find out the difference between holding a belt…and being the Champion of Champions!”
Kenzi leaves the frame for a moment, then returns with the championship. She holds its gleaming face up to the camera.
“You talked about ‘greater goals’ and you didn’t mention this title once. Well…I want you to come to the main event and have a seat at ringside. I will show you exactly what GREATER is! After I beat every single champion in LAW, I want you to stand your ass up and get in the ring with me…look me in the eyes and tell me that the championship that I hold isn’t the greatest championship in this company!”
Kenzi stood up, grabbing the camera and getting it right in her face.
“Because you held a title, they called you a champion. When I beat you at Night of Glory, I proved that you weren’t! I’m not a champion because I hold a title…I’m a champion because I am the greatest wrestler in this company…and I will prove it to you and everyone else in the LAW locker room on Sunday night!”
The camera image went to static…
