SCENE ONE: A DRIVEN, FOCUSED MIND
A driven, focused mind……
That was all you needed, according to some, to be a winner.
Except that Miss Ashley Williams had obviously not gotten that memo, because at this moment in time, taking a drink from her water dispenser in her gym, Ashley felt anything but a winner, even with her driven, focused mind.
It had been a tumultuous ride at Ladies All Star Wrestling so far and now she was to face her toughest opponent to date. This woman had played every card in her arsenal and Ash had matched it, always managing to call her bluff. However, she was not expecting Sam Tolson’s greatest trump card. Hurting her where she could most hurt, her heart. Sam had managed to turn this whole feud on it’s head by taking away Ashley’s fiancée, Katie Anderson. It had been a low down thing to do, but Ashley admired it in a way, it was the forward step that their rivalry needed, lest they continue dancing for all of time.
Gulping down hungrily, Ash replayed over and over in her head the events from the last few weeks, from losing Katie and then Emma, then to putting on the excess pounds over Christmas that she was now struggling to lose and then onto success in other places, successes that she hadn’t quite achieved at that point, but knew were coming, after all, it was just as important to say that you’d contended for a title as it was to win the damn thing, although Ash would say, hand on heart that she loved and cherished the feeling of having twenty pounds of leather and gold around her waist, more than anything in the world perhaps.
Stopping, she walked back over to her home ring, where a young enhancement talent was waiting, a little twenty year old who reminded Ash a lot of herself when she was just dreaming of having a job inside the squared circle.
Engaging in a collar and elbow tie up, Ash threw the young lady to the ropes, hitting her with a stiff chop that nearly doubled the girl over. Ash quickly apologized and they continued on, Ash hitting a few chops and kicks before the girl followed back with some of her own before Ash took her to the mat by her hair, planting a nice knee to the side of her head before going for a quick pin, the girl answered at one.
Ash picked her up and went for a vertical suplex but the girl effortlessly floated over and german suplexed her in response, Ash’s neck thudding off the mat as the girl bridged, getting a well earned two count. Ash got up groggily and ate a hellacious Shining Wizard kick as she fell to the mat, her head thudding as the girl went for another pin, Ash just about managing to kick out at two.
The girl picked her up again but Ash had one more trick up her sleeve and she quickly reversed it, planting both knees into the girls’ sternum before turning her over for a surprise one, two and three. Getting up, she lifted the girl up and giving her a hug.
Ashley Williams
”That’s my new finisher, The Queens’ Gambit, I’m hoping it’s the move that shuts Sam’s mouth up for good, sorry I had to surprise you like that, but you were beginning to you’re your way with me and I couldn’t let that happen.” She said with a broad smile, pouring the girl an orange juice from her fridge.
Ashley Williams
”Thanks for coming at such short notice, kid, I couldn’t have got that last minute training in without you. I’d like to consider you becoming a regular sparring partner with me. It’s gonna hurt, but the pay will be good, give it a think and let us know, yeah?”
The girl nodded, necking her orange juice.
Ashley Williams
”Oh, also, what’s your name, kid?”
The girl replied curtly, Angelica, Miss Williams. Angelica Davis.
Well, that bought memories crashing back, another Angelica that she was due to take under her wing, if she was even considered that good anymore.
Ashley Williams
”I had a student a little while ago shared your name, funny old world, ain’t it? You know her? Angelica Vaughn? She’s the most promising kid I’ve ever seen, but like me, she seems to be having a little problem, namely Sam Tolson. Anyway, as I said, Miss Davis, have a think, I might even offer some free training, I got a lot of time on my hands nowadays.”
The girl nodded in the affirmative and made her way out to her car, leaving Ashley to dim the lights and go back into her main living room, where her PS4 was already set up, NHL 18 in the disc tray. Beforehand though, she got back in the ring, completely in darkness and sat on the mat, praying, her wrist tape damp and sweaty, but she paid this no mind as she did something she never though she would do since being a college aged student, engage in prayer. She then stood up and began to strip off her gear, her wrist tape first, then her training bra, then her shorts. Completely naked in the squared circle she felt a strange exhilaration. This was her home and she was damned if she was letting anyone take it from her. She sat for another ten minutes, just feeling the air conditioning against her body, her mind finally beginning to feel free from worry. The water from the shower would do the rest.
SCENE TWO: LET’S MAKE A MATCH!
Ashley was in her living room, the morning after her little sparring and praying session, just drinking a coffee. She had seen Sam’s promo and enjoyed it, now it was time for business to really pick up, however.
Finishing her coffee and looking forlornly over to her PS4, which she would have rather been playing over cutting a promo, but Sam had lit a fire under her. Firing the webcam up, she began to speak into it, recording the session as she did so.
Ashley Williams
”Hi guys, Ashley here and I’m about to do something that truly scares me, I’m about to watch Fifty Shades of Grey……Only joking, I’m about to try to cut a live promo which is being broadcast right now on Facebook Live! Now, I know I wasn’t exactly kind with some of my words about Sam Tolson last week and I want to, firstly, apologise for my actions. We got a lot of baggage between us Sam, but that ring ain’t the place to air our dirty laundry. Whatever has gone on between us in our personal lives should not matter at LAW #75. What matters is that thousands of people are going to be paying for the rights to see this match, whether it’s at the arena itself or on TV at home. We need to give these people a match for the ages like I know we both can. We can sit there doing this same old dance about who was in the wrong regarding Miss Anderson but it helps NOTHING! It doesn’t change the fact that we are both marching into the D.C. Armory. It doesn’t change the fact that we are going to beat the heck out of each other all over ringside and possibly even the backstage area and it doesn’t change the fact that we are going to put on the match of the night whether people like it or not. I haven’t, nor will I ever forgive you for what you did to make this feud so personal but you have my word that once this drama is dealt with in the ring, mano et mano, then that is where the line is drawn. If you beat me, I will gladly raise your hand in victory and I ask the same courtesy of you. Then that is it, we go our separate ways and we leave this bullshit behind.”
She took a sip of her drink and then smiled back at the camera.
Ashley Williams
”Now, it goes without saying that I haven’t exactly been the most professional in regards to what happened but I can and I will be at my most professional with regards to this upcoming match. I am not out there to hurt you as a scorned lover, I am out there to hurt you as the former Future of Female Wrestling. I am heading out there later to reclaim my pride. I am out there to take back what is mine and I am out there to show Lucas Dupree exactly what I am about. If that means bloodying you up, then so be it. I know you feel the same because aside from all of our differences, we share one thing in common and that is THIS BUSINESS! We both know what it’s like to be on the other side of that barrier, watching as a fan and we both know the enjoyment, the thrill, of seeing the bad guy get his or her comeuppance. We both bleed this business, which is more than I can say for some. We know that these fans, whether they boo or cheer us, deserve to go home with memories that will last them a lifetime, so Sam, let’s let bygones be bygones and give the fans the match that they not only want, but deserve! Give me the chance to show the world what I have forgotten I can do and I’ll give you the chance to show why you were a champion for the length of time you were. You have my word that I am not going out there to deliberately try to hurt you. Outside of that ring, we’re the best of enemies, but inside of it, we are two professional women who live, breathe and bleed this sport, so let’s show these fans that side of us. What do you say?”
With this, she gave a small kiss toward the camera, aimed out at the fans watching the video before shutting the camera off and taking another sip of her drink. Checking twitter, she was hardly surprised to see #ashvssam trending already.
