LAW #78- Following Nova vs. Maria
Immediately after Nova’s win over Maria Spencer, the now arrogant pink haired beauty quickly exits the ring and bolts up the ramp towards the curtain. Her security staff meets her just behind the curtain, forming a protective barrier around their client, the woman they are paid to protect at all costs. Nova is relieved as they meet her and she dusts herself off, looking slightly disgusted.
“The nerve of that referee! Reagan didn’t even touch Maria, yet you all still got ejected?! I’ll be having a discussion with Mr. Dupree very soon to ensure that doesn’t happen again.”
Reagan doesn’t even speak a word and her face remains blank and emotionless.
“Ugh. I need a shower. I’ve got Maria’s disgusting italian sweat on me. I need to get to my locker room.”
”Miss Sinclair, Mr. Black is on his way out to the car as we speak. The jet is being prepped at the airport.”
Shaun, Nova’s head of security, addresses her quickly. Dom remains silent with his arms folded in front of his chest. Nova grins and shakes her head.
”I’ll text Declan when I get back to my locker room. I’ll be quick, and he’ll understand. You two will stand outside the door while Reagan will guard inside.”
Nova turns and looks at Reagan with an amused grin on her face.
”No peeking though, Reagan. I know it’s tempting with this body and all…”
Nova chuckles, expecting to get some sort of reaction out of Reagan, but she’s left disappointed. Reagan blinks her eyes slowly as she stares at a now frowning Nova.
”Nothing? Nothing at all? Does she even speak or understand English?”
”She takes her job very seriously, Miss Sinclair. All that matters is that she cares only for your safety.”
”I’m well aware of that, Dom. But that won’t stop me from trying to get some sort of reaction out of her. She seems like the type that prefers women over men. Not that it matters, of course, considering I have two girlfriends myself. Anyway, let’s go. I don’t want to keep Declan waiting long.”
Nova then continues the walk back to her locker room. As instructed, Shaun and Dom wait just outside the door. Reagan sweeps the room before giving Nova the all clear when no intruders are found. Nova disappears into the shower while Reagan waits behind, never once “peeking” as Nova had jokingly warned her not to do. A little while later, Nova emerges from the shower area, feeling much better after washing up. She’s fully dressed in a clean pair of hip hugging dark blue jeans, low cut sleeveless shirt that reveals a fair amount of cleavage, and a set of heels.
“Oh that feels so much better. Let me just toss my gear into my bag and we can head out.”
Reagan only glances at Nova, quietly waiting for her to be giving the okay to leave. Nova smirks and shakes her head before she gathers her things. She looks at her phone as she slings her duffel bag over her shoulder, and rolls her eyes.
“Five missed calls from my mother? Really? You know you could have answered it, Reagan. I wouldn’t have been upset.”
Nothing. Not even a slow head shake in response from Reagan. Nova sighs as she is left disappointed yet again, but she doesn’t try to engage Reagan again just yet. A gentle knock comes from the door and Reagan immediately walks right over and opens the door. The knock came from Shaun as he looks inside at Nova.
“All ready to go, Miss Sinclair? I just spoke with Mr. Black and he said the jet is all set and ready for your flight.”
Nova shoves her phone in her pocket, refusing to call her mother back and looks around making sure she has all of her belongings. She nods and takes in a deep breath.
“All set. Get me out of this disgusting hell hole. I’m so ready for some island time with my three loves. My mother will just have to wait.”
Shaun then steps aside as does Reagan as they allow Nova to walk out of the locker room. They once again form a protective barrier around her as they walk her out to the parking lot to Declan waiting in the car, and Nova is well aware of her phone ringing from inside her pocket on the way there. However, she chooses to ignore it, saving that uncomfortable conversation with her mother for another time.
A few days later, Nova found herself on the island that Declan had purchased just a few months ago. With almost no argument, she had persuaded Declan to get away for a few days with her, Amy and Kendra, to enjoy a little rest and relaxation before each of their respective matches. She wanted to get her mind off of everything for a short while, and just enjoy her life as she had been doing since getting together with Declan and the other girls.
One of her favorite ways of achieving this clear mind was, perhaps, the warmth and relaxation that accompanied a nice soak in the hot tub. There was just nothing like it, which is why she’s currently partaking in her favorite past-time at this very moment. Alone. She’s leaning against the edge of the hot tub with her arms sprawled out of the length of the side. She has her head laid back and her eyes closed as she keeps her mind free and clear of absolutely everything, other than her life and everything she had and would have going forward.
As she breathes slowly, almost meditating with each breath, her phone suddenly rings. It is just inches away from her hand, a safe distance away from the water to avoid any damage. She slowly lifts her head and looks at the screen, immediately rolling her eyes. She contemplates sending the call to voicemail, but against her better judgement she taps the screen, putting it on speaker as she answers the call.
“Hello, Mother. Can you make this quick? I’m a little busy at the--”
“Nova, what the hell is going on with you?! Why have you been ignoring my calls?!”
Nova smirks as she slowly shakes her head and rolls her eyes as her mother interrupts her.
“I am a busy woman, Mother. I don’t always have time to answer your phone calls, especially recently with me returning to LAW and all. Relax.”
“Don’t you tell me to relax. That never stopped you from answering my calls before or at the very least calling me back, which you also haven’t done. I want you to tell me what is going on with you. Not only have I seen this little attitude change of yours, but Jocelyn told me--”
“She told you what exactly? That I warned her not to hurt you or she’d have to deal with me? Excuse me for trying to protect you from a gold-digging slut like her.”
Liza lets out a loud sigh and Nova can practically see her shaking her head.
“Jocelyn is not a gold-digging slut. I can’t believe you would say such a thing when you two have been best friends for a long time. I just...I don’t know what’s gotten into you lately. This isn’t like you!”
Nova laughs and sits up straight, splashing the water around slightly. She moves her hands around in the water, trying to remain as calm as she can, even though she would rather not be having this conversation with her mother at all.
“Ok, first off Mother, Jocelyn and I haven’t been best friends for years, and there is a reason for that. And it is because she is a treaturious whore who made it quite obvious that she wanted to screw Preston while I was with him. Looking back, maybe I should have let her because it would have saved me quite a bit of hassle of having to deal with Preston.”
“That’s not true and you know it. Jocelyn was always very supportive of your relationship with Preston. She was even there for you during your pregnancy and everything that happened after the baby died. You’ve just painted this picture in your head for some reason I can’t figure out.”
Nova laughs again.
“Mother, Preston told me that Jocelyn tried to proposition him once before. He turned her down of course, because we both knew how she was...how she still is. She always wanted what I had, and she still does. Do you know how many times she would hook up with wealthy men, just to see how far she could get with them? Some of them were married. Some of them weren’t. She wanted the money, mother. She wants your money, which is why she’s pretending to love you.”
Liza goes quiet for several seconds, but it seems like minutes or even hours. She eventually breaks the silence and lets out another sigh.
“That’s not who she is, Nova. But it is certainly coming across that it’s how--”
Nova narrows her eyes, quickly getting a sense of where this is going and chooses to interrupt her mother before she can finish her sentence, and subsequent accusation.
“It’s how what, Mother? How I am? You think what everyone else thinks and that I’m just leeching off of Declan because of his money. Newsflash, in case you have forgotten, but I’ve been given anything I ever wanted. You and Daddy made sure of that. When I first got with Declan, I made it perfectly clear to him that I didn’t need to do the extravagant things he did for me. I still don’t, and that is not why I am with him. I’m with him because I love him. And I love Amy and Kendra. Do you have any idea the amount of passion I have in my life, Mother?”
“Nova, I--”
“Who am I kidding? Of course you don’t. Because you’ve limited yourself to just one person. One woman who, I guarantee, will end up doing what she does best and that is dropping her panties for someone else and hurting you. And when she does, after telling you I told you so, I will personally deal with her.”
“Like you dealt with Preston?”
Liza quickly spits out her accusation. Nova glances at her phone from the corner of her eye, running her hands along the surface of the water.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I haven’t seen Preston in a few months since he last threatened me. Maybe he finally took my advice and decided to leave me alone. Jocelyn told me she hasn’t heard from him. I’m not sure why she would need to, but I honestly have no idea where he is. Nor do I care.”
“I don’t believe you. I think you know something. You or that man of yours knows something. This isn’t you, Nova. You’re not like this.”
“This is how I am, Mother. Maybe I was stupid and naive before, but let’s just say I’ve finally seen what life truly has to offer me, and I’m not going to pass any of it up. I’ve always had everything I ever wanted. I can still get anything I want. I love my life with Declan, Amy and Kendra and nothing you say is going to change that. You’re my mother and I love you, too, but I assure you, I’m an adult. I know what is best for me.”
Nova reaches over to her phone, ready to end the call.
“Nova, please. Listen to me!”
“I have to go. Goodbye, Mother.”
Nova then taps her phone and ends the call. She slides her phone further away from her and takes in a deep breath, ready to relax again. She closes her eyes and leans her head back, once again returning to meditative state that she was in before.
Step one, complete. I promised Maria Spencer that I would walk into that ring and beat her, righting a wrong that was months overdue. Not only did I promise her, but I promised myself and everyone watching. And even after all of that some people seem to think that I didn’t get the win cleanly or that I needed help doing so. And why? Because of my security staff that ultimately was thrown out of ringside!
Yeah, that little mistake by the referee will be dealt with in due time, but let me make one thing very clear. Reagan, Shaun and Dom did not deserve to be ejected from ringside. Reagan never laid a finger on Maria, but because that cliche of a Mafia Princess tripped over her own feet, it got blamed on Reagan. My security team has no reason to interfere in my matches. They are there for the sole purpose of stopping anyone from the outside in getting involved. That’s it. Plain and Simple.
Now before I get down to the business at hand, which is my upcoming match against Seleana Zdunich. That is the most important situation that needs my focus and attention right now, but I need to address something that is quickly becoming a thorn in my side. And that thorn in my side goes by the name of Sam Tolson.
I would say I don’t know what her problem is, but I know exactly what it is. It’s the same problem everyone else has with me. She wants to be me. She wants my life, because she has quickly learned that her life is boring and meaningless and that sooner or later, her marriage is going to fall apart and then she really will have nothing. So she has to try and deflect all of her problems on me and Declan and claim that we’re everything she says we are.
Sorry to everyone watching and to Sam Tolson herself, but we’re not. My life with Declan is exactly what it should be, and the things we don’t have now, we will have very shortly because we deserve it and we know exactly how to get it. If Sam wants to try and paint our life out as something less than it is, that’s completely on her, but do you see me moping around depressed about anything?
No. You don’t. Because I have everything. And very soon, I’ll have that Breakout Championship because everyone knows I am the real Breakout Star of LAW and that title should be mine anyway.
I guess that brings me to Seleana, doesn’t it? Not only is she Crystal Hilton’s fiancee, but she is also someone who Declan likes and respects, which makes this upcoming match a little awkward in a way. Doesn’t it, Seleana? You’ve said it yourself.
I know you’re worried, Seleana. You have every reason to be nervous and worried going into this match, because let’s face it. As much as you want to win and further prove what a threat you apparently are in LAW, you know deep down what everyone else knows, including Declan.
You don’t stand a chance.
I’m not trying to be mean, Seleana. I’m just being honest, because when I want something, I get it. And, honey, I want to win this match. I WILL win this match, because I’m on a much bigger mission than facing you. You’re just a stepping stone on my path to the Breakout Championship, so losing to you just isn’t an option.
I understand your ties to Declan. I understand your connection to his trainer, Robbie Priest, but that doesn’t mean I will take it any easier on you simply to keep the peace. You want to stand there and openly express how worried you are about this match? Go right ahead. You’re just revealing your weakness, which is something that I would never do, honey.
I understand Crystal is your manager, too. That’s all fine and dandy for you, but understand this. If she comes out to that ring, I can’t stop her. But if she tries to get involved at any point, for any reason, there is someone who WILL stop her. And that person is Reagan. But don’t think that means that I’m going to take things too far and try and purposely harm you in some way, Seleana, because as I’ve said, I don’t plan on doing that because Declan respects you.
But as much as he respects you, Seleana, he wants me to succeed that much more. He KNOWS I will succeed. And you know it, too. I’m not going to apologize that it has to be this way. Maybe if this match had happened a few months ago, I would have, but I am a lot smarter than I was just a few months ago. I see life’s bigger picture, and I’m not going to let you stop me from getting everything I want and deserve out of life. I’m not sorry for anything I’m going to do in that ring next week, because it has to be done.
Bring your A-Game, Seleana. In the end, it won’t be enough, because I am and always will be number one.
See you next week!
