The cabin within the shadow of Twilight Manor, Ruby makes her arrival at the agreed upon time pausing at the steps to turn back and admire the complete majesty of the home of the Red Lady. Not a overly lengthy lingering stare, Ruby soon turns back to the door before her and gives a gentle knock waiting for her presence to be heard. When the door is opened by a fellow woman of the white and black attire, Ruby greets her as she would anyone else. With a curtsy and a smile.
Ruby: Greetings. I'm Ruby, I called about a visit.
The other maid returns the smile and is about to speak when she's joined in the doorway by the Mistress of the tiny manor, Domino.
Domino: Come in.
She says plainly as Ruby takes the invite stepping inside as Domino is already at a bookshelf near the back of the living room.
Domino: You came for Etsuko's sacrificial records, did you not?
Ruby: I did, Miss. Domino.
Ruby answers joining her in the living room where she's given a ledger. Giving some silent thanks, Ruby opens the cover and finds everything neatly organized by date. Though partway through the list of names the writing did take a drastic change from when Domino took over Etsuko's handling. It's not what Ruby was after so she continues flipping through until ultimately coming to Kenzi's name at the end. Disappointed, she closes the book passing it back.
Domino: Didn't find who you were looking for?
Ruby: I'm afraid not. Thank you though for the chance, Miss. Domino.
Domino doesn't put the book away herself as she begins to flip through the pages herself.
Domino: You were looking for your Mistress, right?
Ruby: Yes. When Miss. Farrah visited Mistress had a...panic attack when she saw the red mask of sacrifice. I thought perhaps it may have reminded her of a time she was sacrificed herself. Mistress is all about power and control, so to be faced again with a moment she had neither...
Domino nods placing the ledger back on the shelf pausing a moment then brings her hand back and approaches the front window.
Domino: Your Mistress only competed in two companies, right?
Ruby: Yes. Girl Power and her current position within Ladies All Star.
Domino: Etsuko was the representative in both. Meaning if there were any sort of interaction between the two it would have been recorded.
Ruby: But if it wasn't as a sacrifice...
Domino: She may have been looked at as a potential follower.
Ruby: I don't recall Mistress ever showing interest in the Goddess' light. If she were approached, then it would have been before my time with her.
Domino: And Jen has been around since the beginning.
Ruby: Miss. Jen?
Domino: My ex. Though I suppose to you she'd be January, otherwise known as the Caretaker.
Ruby now finally understands why Domino's attention was drawn to Twilight Manor. She joins her by the window and tries to conceal her disappointment. If the next person she were to talk to lived within the hallowed halls...it meant certain dead end.
Domino: Before we separated, Jen was practicing in the field of BDSM. If there were a way she could talk with a fully trained dominatrix, I know she would have jumped at it.
Domino notices the struggle over Ruby's features.
Domino: Still a young follower. Jen will be at the next service, Ruby. You can talk with her then.
Ruby: Oh. Thank you, Miss. Domino.
Still, it wouldn't exactly be easy talking with the Caretaker of all people. But that's where the road was taking her and Ruby would have to follow if she wanted to find out the truth.
Etsuko arrives at First Church, red mask of sacrifice in hand with the three weighted ribbons as well strapped up around her bicep. Kenzi, Orchid, and Maki. Gang's all there and swaying with her movements as she steps inside the church only to be greeted by the harmonious voices of the choir in their practice. The joshi pauses for a moment but when she realizes she isn't there as a bother to them, she continues down the aisle toward the altar at the far end. Some eyes follow her along but no one breaks out of the lyrics to address the charge's arrival as Etsuko rests the mask on the altar and kneels down on her end to pray.
By the time the choir has finished for a break, Etsuko is already on her way back up the aisle prompting one particular choirgirl to hurry past her friends to get to the joshi before she can leave. She doesn't reach her before the doors, but she manages to attract her attention calling out to her from the outside. Hearing her name, Etsuko turns and sees the blond choirgirl standing there.
Etsuko: You wish to speak?
Choir Girl: Yeah, I...kinda wanted to if you were open to it.
She says with a little shrug. Etsuko takes a couple of steps closing the gap between them.
Etsuko: About what?
Choir Girl: Well...how are you doing?
Etsuko: I am preparing for a fight with a former world champion,
Choir Girl: The mask is for her then?
Etsuko: Yes. After my victory, I intend to make her a sacrifice to the Red Lady. I have given Miss. AJ a chance to restructure both her life and career, but I have been met with nothing.
Choir Girl: That's a shame.
Etsuko: It is her loss. As it has been for many others before her. It is always something I do not understand. Everywhere here I am told the only way to go is up. I am offering a chance for them but very little seem to wish to listen.
Choir Girl: People just don't understand that the Goddess doesn't wish to intrude, just guide.
So she says but it's clear...she was hoping to talk about something other than the Red Lady. So she quickly goes into something else. Something that might allow her to know the woman who rescued her a little better.
Choir Girl: Those look nice.
She says pointing out the trio of weighted ribbons.
Choir Girl: Were they a gift?
Etsuko: They are a symbol of personally conquered accomplishments. Any one of these three are more than welcome to come back and remove their ribbon.
Choir Girl: That's nice. Oh, well my name's
GONG!!!
Always the way, isn't it? About to find out a persons name and the church bells ring covering it up. Did she get it out? Did Etsuko hear? There's no time to confirm as the girl just sighs and smiles back at the joshi. She's not repeating, she maybe she thinks Etsuko heard. Maybe she did.
Choir Girl: Well, suppose I should get back. Good luck in your fight.
She says before stepping back into the church looking behind at the joshi as the doors close between them. Etsuko just looks up at the cathedral inspired steeple.
Etsuko: Luck is not a requirement. I will either have the skills necessary in besting Miss. AJ or I do not.
Etsuko then turns from the church carrying along her mask of sacrifice with her. It was charged and ready to go. The chance for Amy Jo Smyth to have a better life...was clearly over as the scene
fades in red
