Grinning from ear to ear, Alex puts together the final decorations for her party. After a victory against Amber Richards, Alex was one step closer to being champion but her next opponent was Oni Kymiku, her ally in USA. Despite their allegiance, Alex hadn't spent a lot of time around Oni but was looking to rectify that. The upcoming show might have had them pitted as opponents but Alex was looking for the positive spin on things. However it went either she or Oni would be advancing for the title and Alex didn't want any chance of bad blood before match time.
Having sent out invites to the entire LAW roster, Alex was sure that her apartment would fill up fast, but had no time to worry as she iced off her large cake with the words, "Good luck, Oni!" in blue icing and, placing a party hat on her head, Alex opened the door when she heard a knocking.

As I walked into Alex’s apartment, I hugged her. It felt strange to be here with the woman I was scheduled to face in just a week and a half…even though I respected her immensely. Alex was a bit of a strange bird…and odd duck, but she was good and caring person. People with good hearts like hers were few and far between these days. Despite the strangeness of hanging out with a woman that I knew would be looking to be the first person in LAW to pin my shoulders to the mat, I was thankful that it would be her who was next in line.
The tussle with Kate Steele had been out of the norm for me. Things had become personal and I had nearly gone overboard after the match. I was moments away from smashing her face in with the timekeeper’s bell when my sister ran down and stopped me. Despite my feelings about her, I was grateful that Nyako stopped me from doing something that I would have regretted. In my rage over the threats from Trisha VanReardon towards my sister, I nearly lost control after the match…
…what’s to say that you won’t lose control again…go after Yin and try to hurt her, you know that you want to…why are you fighting it…
A part of me wanted to crush Steele for what she did, but Yin wasn’t the bad person here…she had done nothing but welcome everyone and put people at ease. Who else could have made me feel comfortable enough to show up at her place when they were days away from a fight?
“Yin, thank you so much for inviting me.” I stopped and looked around her place, taking it all in. My eyes stopped as they fell on the cake. I couldn’t help but to arch my eyebrows at the message. I turned to Alex, “You made me a good luck cake for our match?”
…you're crazy if you believe that she is really wishing you good luck, that cake is probably filled with glass and used condoms, maybe even condoms filled with glass…
If it was anyone else, I would have thought that she was trying to get under my skin, but Alex was aloof and for all intents and purposes, she actually meant it...or so I thought.
With no-one else around, Alex wasn't quite as focused on playing host just yet saw it as an opportunity to let her hair down...for the time being. Running a forefinger across the top of the cake, Alex cut through the lettering and then licked her finger.
Alex: Mmmmmmmm! Goody! Of course, it's not mine. I can't cook to save my life. Well, I can cook a mean cheese on toast.
Alex then noticed Oni eyeing the confectionary. Alex then closed her eyes and stamped one of her feet on the ground.
Alex: Oh, of course, how stupid of me! I suppose it looks like I'm trying to fatten you up. Make you all flabby and saggy...you don't have to have any. I can have your share. No problem. Believe me.
Alex laughed. Despite her petite frame, her appetite was already becoming notorious; whilst her colleagues were all hardened abs, Alex still only posessed a soft tummy. Not fat at all, but a long way from toned.
Alex: Besides...I need to build up a little on the body for when I hit that KMA. All about that bass and all that...

I couldn’t help but to crack a rye smile at her bravado. Where others may have seen her statement as forward, I saw it for what it was. She was friendly, but she was a competitor. She loved to have fun…until it wasn’t time anymore.
“I think I can have a bit of cake without it reeking too much havoc on my midsection.” I gave her a wink right back, “Maybe if I show you my eating skills, you’ll think twice about that KMA…just saying…”
…it sounds a lot like you just threatened to eat your way out if she put her ass in your face…tell me I heard that right…
I couldn’t help but to blush as I realized how she could take what I just said. I waved off my last comment. “Sorry about that Yin…I didn’t mean it the way it came out…”
…are you sure you didn’t mean it…
I was sure…mostly. I grabbed a plate and sliced off a piece of cake for myself. “Yin…first off, I really enjoy your company. You are a lot of fun and nothing ever seems to get you down…but I just wanted to say…when we fight on the next show, I want you to know that it’s not personal.” I looked away, still ashamed of my actions. “That stuff you saw with Steele at the end of our match…that was me getting a little bit out of control. You won’t have to worry about that…but I don’t want you thinking that you are going to plant your ass in my face and beat me. I have little intention of doing anything except giving you a great match…beyond that, I have no intention of losing.” I paused, “I am sure that you think the same…KMA aside.”
Alex responded with a rather ambiguous sounding "Mmmm" of acknowledgement. She believed that Oni was sorry and that her actions were ones of impulse but it still Didn't sit right with her. It had frightened her to see Oni act that way, but Oni was her friend so no need to worry. Right?
Alex: Hey, you've had a lot going on in your personal life. I get it, you're stressed. That's one of the reasons we're doing this. So pull up a chair and I'll get you a drink. 'kay? What do you want?
“Water is fine” I responded, even as I mulled over what she had said. It was true, I was stressed…more than stressed! I had lashed out at Steele, and I had nearly gone too far…a bit of the old me seeping through the cracks. I hope that this was a one off because of the heat with Violet and Oshiro…but there was a nagging down deep inside me that said it wasn’t. It was for that very reason that I wanted Yin to be at her best when we fought…I wanted her to be ready for anything…not to let her guard down…not for a moment.
I took a sip of the water that Yin handed me after I thanked her. I didn’t know how to broach the subject, other than just to come out and say it. “Yin…I know that you are a good hearted person, it is what I respect and admire most about you…but…next week you need to be ready and focused. You and I are friends and we will be after our match…win or lose…but don’t let any of this cloud your judgment inside the ring.” It felt weird to tell her this…as if she wouldn’t be ready for a knock down, drag out…but I didn’t want there to be any surprises between us.
“Just promise me that you won’t let our friendship lower your guard…that’s all...”
...you can warn her all you like, you know that she won't be prepared for what we truly are because she does not know our past; if you ask me, that is her loss...I have wanted to break her since the moment I laid eyes on her...
Vile sentiment aside, it was true that she did not know my past...beyond what VanReardon had plastered all over circus that she called 'The Hot Seat.'
Looking at Oni's stern expression, Alex returned it with a warm and loving look.
Alex: Oni, don't worry. I'm a professional wrestler. Professional. I go out there and I always do my best, regardless of who I face. I've had to fight friends before, you weren't the first and you won't be the last. Trust me, I'll be ready. After all, I have enough-WATCH OUT!
Alex's cat-like reflexes sprang into action as she grabbed a bowl of popcorn and threw some kernels at Oni, playfully, but also showing off her speed.
Post by Oni Kymiku on Jan 30, 2015 17:45:32 GMT -5
I closed my eyes as the popcorn rained down on me. I knew at that moment that while Yin was more than an accomplished wrestler…when the chips were down and she found herself face to face with shades of my former-self, she would not be prepared…
…so much the better for us, let her find out what Steele should have learned last week; bash her brains out and feed them to her little fucking rat…
Yin did need to understand. I had tried to explain it plainly, but what I had to say was obviously lost in translation. I did not want to offend her…but more than that, I didn’t want her walking into LAW #22 with her eyes closed. I would do her the favor that I had not done for Steele.
I brushed a few kernels of popcorn off of myself as I fixed my eyes on her, no hint of mirth on my face. “Yin…because you do not understand who and what I am, I am going to explain it to you.” I sat forward, slowly unbuttoning my shirt. I watched her eyes grow large, she was likely expecting that I was going to make a sexual advance at her. This made me smile, but my smile was hard and without a hint of actual warmth. “Don’t worry Yin…I’m not going to force myself on you, but know that I have done that very thing, and I have done much, much worse.”
I peeled aside my shirt and revealed the irezumi on my shoulder and across my back. “When other children were having tea parties and sharing cake with one another, I was already marked as a member of my father’s Yakuza clan. When young girls and boys were playing dress up with dolls and chasing one another with toy guns, I was sent out to kidnap girls off the streets and turn them into whores…when they would not or could not adjust, we used real guns to resolve their issues. I lived this life for most of my life Yin…so much so that I cannot easily see a young girl on the street and not think of how much money she could earn for me and my clan…how much fun it would be to break her.” I sighed, my eyes not leaving hers, “I hope that this does not offend you, as this is not my intent, but it is the truth of who I was and who I struggle to escape from on a daily basis. When I first laid eyes on you, you reminded me of those girls…so young, so innocent…eyes pointed towards the future…looking past the danger and the evil that lurked in their midst.”
The memory of all the girls that I had hurt in the past came rushing back to me. All I had hurt in various ways…leaving scars on them that were both emotional and physical…at least, the lucky ones. I reached out and caressed the side of Yin’s face. “I want you to remember what I said here today…remember how I said it.” I wiped at my eyes, but they were dry as dead leaves. “I felt nothing for them…and try as I might today, I still feel nothing. Because I consider you a friend…I need you to understand this about me. You fight in LAW every two weeks if you are lucky, the rest of the time you get to be yourself…as you are now.” I looked around at the delicious spread she had set out. I plucked a popcorn kernel and it bounced off her chest, “You throw parties for your friends…” I ran my finger through the frosting of her cake, and dabbed it on her lips “…you kiss your enemies.” I sat back, “Yin, I fight everyday against the urge to hurt everyone around me…enemies…and friends. I am fighting that urge right now…but next Sunday, I won’t have to do that anymore…tell me that you understand me Yin…tell me you understand this…no jokes and no games…I need to know this.”
Alex sat there for a second, her eyes briefly leaving Oni to consider what she had just said. That was a lot to take in. Alex had lived a fairly cosy and normal life, growing up in the suburbs of northern England, went to school, college, university, did some teaching in Japan...the only really odd thing was her past as a semi-professional gymnast.
Alex briefly looked up at Oni and didn't know whether to hug her...or to hit her. The revelations of her past life shocked and even angered Alex, but she gathered it was society, not Oni, to blame. Shaking slightly, Alex stood up.
Alex: I....um...just need to get washed up. Don't go away.
Alex stands up and gets about half way to the bathroom, turns and points at Oni.

…now you did it, you either scared the shit out of her and she is calling the police or she feels so sullied by your touch that she needs to wash up; either way, your delivery was outstanding…
I hated that I had revealed so much to her…showed her so much of my true face, but she needed to understand what kind of monster I truly was. I did this not to scare her or push her away, but to make her understand that she could not treat me with kid gloves inside the ring.
Despite what she said, I stood up, intent on leaving. If I stayed…the awkwardness might have been too much…but I hesitated as I got to the door. Yin had been insistent that I stay…and honestly, curiosity was getting the better of me. I went back to my seat and sat down, buttoning my shirt back up as I prayed that my words had gotten through to her…
…she probably got all wet and heated after hearing those sexy stories of yours…I bet she wants you to follow her in there and give her the good licking that Mackenzie didn’t…
“You’re disgusting…” I said out loud to myself, then grabbed a handful of nuts and shoved them into my mouth as I hoped that she hadn’t heard me talking to myself.
A short, dark-haired girl with a Yorkshire accent stood before Oni, far from happy. Only it wasn't Alex. Alex came in a few moments later, still lookimg shaken but trying to force a smile on her face.
Alex: I see you met Cheryl.
Cheryl looked around at the disturbed food, the hastily-buttoned t-shirt, the slightly uncomfortable expressions worn on the other girls' faces. She then smiled.
Cheryl: Alex, you dark horse. I always thought you were a third date kind of girl, but no messing around here.
Cheryl then clicks her fingers.
Cheryl: Unless...you're...Mackenzie, right? I've heard so much about you, believe me. Bit more...exotic looking than I expected. My name's Cheryl. Cheryl Clarke.
Instead of being social beyond that, Cheryl simply rested her feet on the table as she lay back on the couch. If this was Mackenzie, no way was she going to just leave her and Alex alone. Alex was daft and needed protecting, even if this mystery woman could probably chew both of them up andmspit them out.
I gave Yin’s chaperone a slight nod, “Sorry…the name is Oni.” I gestured towards my host, “Yin and I will be beating the holy hell out of each other in a week or so.”
I didn’t know why Yin asked me to stay, I could clearly see that she was uncomfortable. I was hurt by that, but I viewed it as a necessary evil that would keep her head on a swivel and her eyes wide open. I had no intention of going after her like I went after Steele, but…in the heat of the moment, when I let my guard down and my darker nature slipped through, who could say what might happen.
I nibbled on some crackers and cheese as I assessed Yin’s friend. “So…Ms. Clarke, you and Yin are room mates?”
Before she could answer the question, there was a knock on the door, signaling the arrival of another partygoer. Alex hopped over to answer the door, leaving her friend and I to continue making small talk. I was relieved for the distraction…at least until I saw who the guest was…

As Alex opened the door to her new guest, she was greeted by the face of a woman she was only meeting in person for the first time. Sidney Grey gave Alex a toothy grin as she stuck out her hand to the diminutive young girl. “You must be Alex Yin…I am sure that you are charmed to meet me.”
Alex shielded her eyes as the bright lights of the cameraman that accompanied Sidney shown in her eyes. Sidney nodded behind her, “Don’t mind him…he is just filming for my reality show…I’m sure you watch it…”
Before Alex can say another word, Sidney walks past her, breezing into the room as if she owned the place. As she laid eyes on Oni and Cheryl, as the only two people at the party, she smirked, glancing over her shoulder at Alex. “Geez! Aren’t you little Ms. Popular!” she relayed sarcastically.
Sidney smirked as she looked at Cheryl, "I am not sure if you swing that way or not, but I would watch myself around that one and cameras…the way I hear it, she has a hard time keeping her clothes on when there is one in the vicinity.”
She laughed, turning to Oni. “So…when is this sex tape of you finally coming out? As long as this thing has been getting dragged out, it better be pretty fucking awesome!” She looked around at Cheryl and Alex, “Am I right?”
Last Edit: Jan 31, 2015 20:08:46 GMT -5 by Sidney Grey
Alex looked puzzled at this middle-aged woman who smelt of gin, second-hand smoke and desperation. These last few minutes had bowled poor Alex over as she considered her response.
Alex: Ummmm...sorry, Miss Grey. Love to chat but we're having a social engagement right now.
Cheryl laughed and snorted as she stood up,
Cheryl: Social engagement? Look, whoever you are, slag off, you cow!

Sidney looked shocked at the icy reception she got from Alex and her hideous friend. She had heard that Alex was happy-go-lucky, but this was not at all what she expected. Sidney straightened herself, holding her head up high. “Well…it seems like this place is just as hospitable to me as LAW has been the last few months.”
She stood up and sneered at the lot of them. “I didn’t want to stay here anyway, this place smells like and Asian fish market!” She walked to the door, looking back over her shoulder. “I can’t wait to see the two of you clawing at each other next weekend…” she chuckled, “…I’ve never seen a cat fight between two people who actually eat cats!”
She laughed out loud as she flipped them all off and walked out, slamming the door loudly.
