Following The 2015 Queen of the Ring
Boston, MA
23 August 2015
After a grueling match against Fujiko Mine, my entire body hurt worse than it ever had…and I knew all about pain, so that was saying something. Once again, ‘The Boob Goddess’ had run me through a meat grinder, only this time I had managed to be the one leaving as LAW Champion. As I headed though the halls, the staffers and other women parted like the Red Sea. I could tell by their disgusted looks that I looked at bad as I felt…but I wasn’t giving anyone the satisfaction of seeing me licking my wounds.
As soon as I saw Carmen waiting for me, camera crew at the ready I wanted to turn around and head in the other direction…but part of me knew that this was my time to make my statement to LAW…as its new champion. No one ever got a second chance to make a first impression, but I was being given that chance…and I was going to take it.
I threw the LAW Title over my shoulder and walked over as Carmen welcomed me. “Oni…congratulations on your win tonight, but I wanted to ask you, in light of the way that you won…would you be interested in giving Fujiko the same chance she gave you to regain the title?”
I paused for a moment, considering the question and then I leaned in and answered. “No.”
Carmen seemed surprised. “But…she gave you that same chance…”
I waved away that response. “She didn’t give me anything…I earned this opportunity by being the only competitor consistent enough to deserve a match for the top prize in LAW. At the end of the day…I don’t owe her or anyone else anything! I’m the champion and everyone can go to hell for all I care!”
Carmen still seemed surprised by my response, but she pressed on. “Well…it was already announced that you would face Kate Steele at LAW 33…does it concern you that she just defeated your sister for the Marquee Title?”
I looked at her and shrugged, “My sister is a big girl, she doesn’t need me to fight her battles for her. As for me facing Steele…I’ll worry about her when the bell rings. You can worry about what happens to her after that. As a matter of a fact…you can spend your time worrying about everyone in LAW from here on out!” I held up the belt that was still splattered with blood. “This gives me license to do what I want here…to anyone…anytime I want! If they don’t like it…they are welcome to come and try to take it from me!”
I walked off, leaving Carmen standing there shaking her head. As I continued to walk, a stagehand walked over to me. “Excuse me…if you give us a few minutes, we can get the belt cleaned and replace the nameplate. Should be really quick.”
I took the belt off my shoulder and held it up, staring at it. The blood had already began to dry to a deep maroon color. Fujiko Mine’s name stood out in large title case on the nameplate. A not so subtle smile touched my lips and I put the belt back over my shoulder. “You know what? No need…I think I like it just the way that it is.”
The man stared at me and then at the belt, which bore the name and blood of another woman. Ma’am….errr…Mr. Lucas said that we should take care of the title as soon as possible. You will have appearances schedule.”
I ran my fingers through my long dark hair. “I’ll be ready for my close up…” I patted the belt, careful not to smear any of the stains on the front of it. “…don’t worry…the belt will be ready too.” I chuckled and walked off…every fiber of my being screaming in pain from the hell that Mine had put me through, but I would give no one the satisfaction of seeing it here and now.
I was the new LAW Champion…and I had an image to protect.
