She stood over the body that lay at her feet, twisted and broken. She didn’t know if there was life left in the woman or not after the car had careened into her, running her down. Her heart beat so hard inside her chest that it drowned out the other sounds around her, increasing her paranoia over been spotted at the scene of the crime. She could hardly think straight…should she call for help and risk being fingered for the deed or should she leave and do what she could to forget what had happened.
She would be blamed for this…and rightly so. There would be no escaping what she had done once the world found out. She would have to pay for what she had done…she would be locked in a cage for her crime, cut off from everything and everyone. Given her fractured state of mind…that might have been what was best for her and everyone around her, but the thought of losing all that she had found frightened her beyond reason. She had no choice…she would have to run away from this…put it behind her and never think of it again…it was the only way.
She turned and started to leave, but something held her in her tracks, rooting her feet to the ground. She looked back at the woman’s face…and a lump grew in her throat. She bent down to see if the woman was still alive…that was the least she could do before she ran away. As she reached for her, a bright light shown down on her from above, causing her to shield her eyes as she looked up. She had been seen by someone…there would be no way to hide her hand in this crime now…
“AND CUT!” The Director yelled and the scene ended. Kenzi relaxed as the lights came up and she let out a sigh of relief. “Good work out there today Kenzi, that whole thing played really well! We’re going to wrap for today, okay? I know you got a big day tomorrow! Congratulations on the wedding!”
Kenzi smiled, thanking him and everyone else on the set for their kind words and well wishes. However, despite all of the pleasantries, none of the other cast members or even members of the production staff would commit to showing up at LAW 47 for her wedding to Alex Yin. Kenzi tried to pretend that their lack of desire to come didn’t bother her, but it really and truly did. She had very few friends these days…friends that weren’t paid to be there for her…so this only served to highlight how much she had been alienated from everyone else.
She tried to keep up appearances as she mingled and joked with the crew, but the longer she stayed the more apparent it appeared to her that everyone was still just playing their part around her. She was the star of the show, so they did what they had to in order to keep up appearances and in the process, keep their jobs, but in the end it was all just a farce. Kenzi checked the time and finally excused herself, remarking on how she was going to be late if she didn’t start heading to the airport soon. As she prepared to leave, her bodyguard, Bobbi London stepped in and gathered her things as they headed out. Kenzi couldn’t help but to feel a pang of jealousy as everyone made a point to say a much more heartfelt goodbye to Bobbi.
As the two headed back to Kenzi’s trailer, Bobbi couldn’t help but to speak up…
“I really ‘ope that scene wasn’t too ‘ard on you out there.”
Kenzi kept walking, not breaking her stride in the least. “Nope…” she looked over at Bobbi, “…why should it have been?”
Bobbi shrugged her shoulder, “Well…you know…with everything that ‘appened with yer Mum being run down and all.”
Kenzi kept her eyes on Bobbi for an uncomfortably long time, then finally shrugged and looked away. “I didn’t think about it…but it seems to me that if anyone should be having a hard time seeing that, it should be Hannah Paul since she’s the one that ran my mother down…or maybe it should be Jenny Tuck for lying about my involvement and getting me arrested! Other than that…they can all go screw!” A smile played on her lips, “I have my mind on happier things right now…like marrying Alex! I’m not going to allow unhappy thoughts to ruin that!”
Bobbi fell silent as she followed Kenzi. All of this had weighed heavily on her mind after Alex Yin had all but begged her to go talk to Hannah Paul, the woman that had taken the fall for running down Kenzi’s mother. Bobbi didn’t know if Hannah had truly done the deed or not, but she didn’t particularly care either. Hannah knew that Alex and Kenzi were in a relationship and she had still tried to come between them…even while living with them and calling them both her friend. Bobbi had done some dirty deeds in her time, but that was incredibly low. Of course…running down your mother was pretty high up on that list…but to be honest there were times that she wished that she could run down her own mother.
Kenzi walked into her trailer and immediately went right for her phone. She picked it up and smiled broadly as she saw a string of messages from Alex. She quickly replied to them all and sat the phone back down as she turned to Bobbi. “Can you do me a HUGE favor! I ordered Alex something special for Mother’s Day and I need you to pick it up!”
Bobbi arched her brow, “Alex isn’t a Mum…why did you buy ‘er a present?”
Kenzi folded her arms, “Alex is more of a mother than anyone else in LAW! You see the way she takes care of everyone! She deserves everything I give her and more!” Kenzi’s smile faltered a bit, “Hell…she even tends to that Chinchilla like it’s a child!” She shook her head and rolled her eyes. “I need you to stop by CTN and pick it up for me.”
Bobbi nodded, “Okay…I’ll ‘ead over after we leave.” She paused, as she asked, “Do you want to stop off and see your Mum before we leave?”
Kenzi rolled her eyes, “NO!”
Bobbi couldn’t help but to be a bit saddened by her visceral reaction. “I know that she probably can’t see or ‘ear you…but it might be nice to just stay there with ‘er for a few minutes. You’re not gonna be round on Sunday.”
Kenzi ignored Bobbi’s argument, “Drop it Bobbi! I don’t need to see my mother, okay? I’m getting married tomorrow night…that’s my focus and that is all that I care about!”
Bobbi added, “Not even worried about the match?”
Kenzi shrugged her shoulders, “Tomorrow night I am going to be marrying the girl of my dreams and nothing is going to trump that! I could give a crap about Mackenzie Roberts or Keira Fisher for that matter! After Alex and I are a couple in the eyes of the law, there is nothing and no one that can come between us!”
Sunday night at LAW 47 promises to be one of the greatest nights of my life! Alex Yin will finally become my wife and then the entire world and everyone in it can go straight to hell! For the last several months all people have done was try their best to break us up and come between us. Obviously everyone is jealous of what the two of us have together and they want nothing more than to destroy it. Hannah…my very own roommate and one time BFF tried to steal Alex from me and now she’s out of the picture! Jenny Tuck took a stab at coming between us and look at what happened to her! When you mess with the bull, you get the horns! Lastly, our esteemed interim General Manager Maria Salvatore did everything she could to create a rift between us…but in the end, she failed and she got just what she deserved for her time and effort!
The sad truth of the matter is that everyone in LAW thinks that Alex is too good to be with me…and they are right! There is no one kinder or gentler than Alex Yin! She makes me a better person even by association! I love myself when I am with her…and I don’t care what anyone else thinks. After we’re married, I will never have to worry about being apart from her again. There will be no more jealous roommates or interim General Managers to contend with…just two last thorns in the side that I intend to pluck out, once and for all!
Mackenzie Roberts…the soon to be EX-Marquee Champion is going to learn first-hand that running her big ass mouth isn’t going to do anything other than get her a big ass beating right before Validation! I have no doubt in my mind that she thinks she still has some kind of hold over Alex, but that shit is over and done with! She had a chance and screwed it all up…and now she has to settle for her second choice…and I know it eats her up inside! All I can say is that she needs to get use to settling, since she is going to have to settle for losing on Sunday night…and then losing again at Validation!
I know for a fact that Mackenzie still thinks that she has some kind of hold over Alex, and maybe last year she did…but that hold is broken! Mackenzie is nothing but old news. She tried to come to the ring during my match with Alex and see if she still had a little mojo that she could work…something that might save her ass at Validation, but after tomorrow, she is going to realize that just like she blew her chance at landing the perfect girl…she is also going to realize that she blew her chance at holding on to her title!
Mackenzie has been living on borrowed time with that title and with her designs on my girlfriend…all of that ends at LAW 47…
Now, I’d be remiss if I failed to mention little Miss Keira Fisher…the other side of the tag team equation on Sunday. Keira has been holding on to this idea that I tried to have Roxi Johnson run down last year. Apparently, it has been all that she has thought of since the moment it happened. She has harbored this rage inside her and finally she is going to get to unleash it all on me. Well…I have a little bit of pent up rage and frustration myself! When I first came to LAW after what happened to my mother, Keira was one of the first people to offer to help me, along with Roxi Johnson. At the time…I wasn’t very trusting of anyone…including Roxi…but apparently that was abhorrent to Keira since she punched me right in the face without any provocation!
Since that day…I have thought of nothing but stepping inside that ring with Keira for another one on one match. Sunday…well…Sunday isn’t that day…there will be two other people in the ring and each of them will have their own agendas, but rest assured Keira…our time is coming! The funny thing is that Keira thinks Jenny Tuck did her a favor by allowing Keira to take her place at Validation? No…she didn’t do Keira any favors…she granted me my fondest wish! Tomorrow night…after Alex makes me the happiest woman on the planet…I am going to give Keira a very small taste of what I’m willing to do to her come Validation!
Keira is going to be asking herself over the course of the next few weeks…”if Kenzi Grey can kick my ass like that when she’s overjoyed at being married…what will she do to me at Validation when all she’s done is prepared to step into the ring to hurt me?”
Keira…I hope you’re watching and I hope that you’re still fuming and not taking me seriously. I want to see the look on your face when I beat your ass and leave you laid out in the middle of the ring alongside Mackenzie Roberts! Sunday night will just be a preview for what’s to come…assuming you even make it out of the arena on Sunday night!
Bobbi London sat outside in the car waiting for Kenzi to finish showering and changing so they could head to the airport. As she polished off a bag to Cheetos, she belched loudly, pounding her chest to get the last of that goodness out. A buzz from her phone caught her attention and she picked it up, gazing at the screen with a slight frown on her face as she did. Usually a text from Alex was a good thing…but this was the message she had been dreading for over a week…
Bobbi…did you talk to Hannah yet?
Bobbi wanted to text her back and tell her that she didn’t visit their old roommate in jail, but that wasn’t right. A promise was a promise…especially where it involved Alex Yin. Alex didn’t have to be so inviting and so nice to her…but she was…she was that way with everyone, maybe to a fault. Bobbi loved Alex almost as much as Kenzi did…at least in her own way. Even though she knew the information she had to impart wouldn’t make her happy…she had to do it. Bobbi looked at the door, making sure that Kenzi wasn’t on her way out as she texted Alex back a single word…
Yeah
Bobbi only had to wait a few moments before Alex fired a text right back…
Great…see me at the arena tomorrow!
Bobbi stared at the last message and ran one of her hands nervously through her hair, then swore under her breath as she realized that she had just put sticky orange Cheetos paste all through her long blonde hair. “Bloody fuckin’ ‘ell!” She flipped down the visor and stared at herself in the mirror as she worked to get the crap out of her hair before Kenzi saw her.
As she stared at herself in the mirror she realized that when she told Alex what she knew, it was likely to devastate her…possibly even end her relationship with Kenzi. Part of her wished that she could just lie and tell her that everything was just as Kenzi said it was. Despite what people said, she knew that Kenzi loved Alex more than she loved anything else on the planet earth. Everything Kenzi had done…good, bad, or absolutely heinous, she had done with the thought that this would be the thing that kept her and Alex together. In that, there was a sweetness that Bobbi understood…but there was also a kind of madness to it as well, and she also understood that.
Bobbi slammed the visor closed as she let out a hard sigh. Tomorrow night was going to be horrible…one way or another. Either Kenzi was going to get her wish and make Alex hers forever…or Alex was going to find out just how dangerous Kenzi’s obsession with her was. No matter what happened, in the end…someone was going to end up getting hurt. She just hoped that she’d be there to make sure that didn’t become permanent!
She would be blamed for this…and rightly so. There would be no escaping what she had done once the world found out. She would have to pay for what she had done…she would be locked in a cage for her crime, cut off from everything and everyone.
