Candid Moment: Kenzi Grey
So…finally LAW makes a gesture to try to appease me since I lifted their skirt and showed the world their dirty nether region! I exposed LAW for the bias that it has had against me since the day I first stepped foot in the company! General Manager after General Manager…and even Lucas Dupree himself have all taken turns at screwing me…or at least trying their best to do so, but I’m not an easy mark for them or anyone else for that matter! At Validation I bested all of them in a single match and I proved myself by beating all the odds that they stacked against me! I left that pay-per-view a winner! I left that arena having defeated their golden child…a former 2-time Breakout Champion. What’s my reward for doing something that our vaunted Marquee Champion couldn’t at LAW 48? I get to step into the ring and complete in a tournament with a bunch of fucking LOSERS who have to claw and scrape their way to getting a title opportunity!
FUCK YOU VERY MUCH ASSHOLES!!
Why do I have to compete in the Queen of the Ring when the woman that I defeated is getting handed the world on a silver platter? I’ll tell you why…because LAW wants little fucking robots that they can control carrying their precious golden titles! History bears this out if you don’t believe me! Look no further than LAW’s first and only 2-time World Champion, Oni Kymiku! LAW wanted that title off her shoulder so badly that they put her in unwinnable match after unwinnable match until they were finally able to screw her out of the title and then…they fired her to keep her from becoming a 3-time World Champion!
…is that going to be my fate if I continue to rail against them? I welcome them to try…
Let it never be said that I’m not a team player because I’m going to step into that ring regardless and do what the fans demand me to do…cement my name as the woman everyone comes to see in LAW! I’m the biggest and brightest star that this company has ever seen! Damn sure bigger and better than Crystal FUCKING Millar! The last film that old bitch made was in black and white! If you want to talk singing…I’m 1000 times better than that cotton candy-haired freak Kate Steele! That bitch could fuck up the Happy Birthday song!
…say what you want, but everyone knows it’s true…Kenzi Grey shines brighter than any of them…and now that includes being inside a wrestling ring…
So…as if proving myself against Keira Fisher wasn’t enough…I have to step into the ring and do it again and again and again…but it all starts at LAW 49 with Mindy De Santiago!
…Goddamn I want to hate her…I want to hate her so fucking bad…but I can’t…
I know that Mindy isn’t part of all of the shit that LAW has been throwing at me, she’s just the latest obstacle that they have seen fit to place in my path…she’s the one they have hand-selected to shut me up so they can crown a new posterchild for mediocrity! Well…that’s all fine and dandy…they can take that sweet little Mindy and put her in the path of hurricane Kenzi if they like…but when I mow her down…AND I WILL…I don’t want anyone bitching about it! Bottom line…I didn’t ask for her to be there! I didn’t ask to be in the Queen of the Ring! I DAMN sure didn’t ask to be stuck in mid-card hell while the woman I beat was getting put on the yellow brick road to fucking Title Town USA!
Mindy…I know you are watching this and you are probably thinking that it’s your job to get into that ring and shut me up because you feel that being the QOTR is your destiny. You don’t give a shit about me and the fight I’m being forced into. Well, if that’s how you feel, I’d expect nothing less…but don’t go thinking that this is going to be your chance to come up and make a name for yourself! IT’S NOT!
This match isn’t about the QOTR and it isn’t about YOU! This match is about ME and it’s about ME being screwed once again! I should be facing the Chaos Champion…I should be facing the Breakout Champion…I should be facing the Marquee Champion…and just like the last REAL GM that this company had declared…I should be facing the LAW World Champion!
…I’m not doing any of those things…instead…I’m facing you…
I’m not mad Mindy…but you won’t know the difference come LAW 49! I like you…and it is for that reason and that reason only that I am asking you…very fucking nicely…to not bring your ass down to that fucking ring two weeks from now! DO YOU HEAR ME MINDY?!! DON’T YOU DARE COME DOWN TO THAT GODDAMN RING!
…if you do…I’m going to beat your ass worse than I beat Alexis Blake’s ass on LAW 48…
This is your warning Mindy…but this is your one and ONLY warning! Don’t go sticking your nose in grown folks business unless you enjoy the feeling of having a boot up your ass! You got a big win at Validation and I applaud you for that…but now it’s time for you step aside and allow the cream of the LAW crop to rise to the top. You and I don’t have beef…but if you side with the people who are hell-bent on screwing me over…you are my enemy and people who become my enemy have a VERY hard time remaining upright and leaving arenas the same way they came in…
…I look forward to you remaining silent on this issue…if you know what’s good for you! If you don’t…I might have to reconsider how much I think I like you…
Los Angeles, California
13 June 2016
The Uber driver looked back at his passenger, gazing at her through her reflection in his rearview mirror. He had found it difficult to keep his eyes off of her from the moment he picked her up. It wasn’t often that he was fortunate to pick up a girl this lovely…but it was even less often that he picked up a celebrity. He cleared his throat as he spoke, “You’re Kenzi Grey, right?” Kenzi checked her makeup in her compact, seeming to ignore the man. He drove on for a few more minutes before he spoke again, “I think you’re really pretty…”
Finally Kenzi looked up from her compact, assessing him silently. She closed the compact, her dark eyes holding his in the mirror’s reflection. “That’s so nice of you!” She leaned up between the seats, staring at him intently, “Would you say that I look fuckable?” She paused, looking down at her carefully chosen attire, “That’s kinda the look I was going for…fuckable…”
The man swallowed, looking over at her and then back to the road. “Well…yeah…I…I’d say so…I…”
Kenzi smiled, reaching over and running her hand across his chest. “Fantastic!” She sat back in the seat, pulling out her phone and ignoring him for the rest of the trip, despite his attempts to inspire further conversation. 15 minutes later they were at Kenzi’s destination and she exited the car, taking the time to make certain that her attire, a formfitting black dress that showed a generous amount of skin was just right for the mission she intended to embark on.
She made her way to the door, thinking that she should have felt weird about coming to see Jamilyn Cornett. After all, she was in a relationship with Alexis Blake, a woman that had become a constant thorn in her side. However, all things being equal, Jamilyn had agreed to keep things neutral where she and Alexis were concerned. She had gone out of her way to say that she wanted to help Kenzi…she said that she wanted to be a confidant for her. A small part of her wished it were true...wished that she could fix her issues…but this meeting wasn’t going to be about that at all, at least not for Kenzi. She had another agenda entirely, and that agenda required her to walk into what she had deemed to be a lion’s den…or more appropriately, the den of a lioness as she looked her in the eye to see the truth behind all of her lies. Kenzi rang the bell and waited, gathering her thoughts as she did.
If Kenzi's plan was to focus on the task at hand, however, she was immediately distracted. Jamilyn answered the door in what could only be described as the kind of wet dream most lesbians would kill for. While she still had her hair teased slightly, it still looked like she was just waking up. Her makeup was just enough to enhance her freckles and her button nose, with barely a hint of eye shadow. Her outfit, if you could even call it that, consisted of a sky blue sweaterdress that, while covering the upper body effectively, was just barely long enough to cover Jami's backside and tight enough to hide almost nothing in terms of her curves, thigh-high black socks with a blue stripe at the top, and light blue four-inch spike heels. She smiled at Kenzi, her lips pursed almost perfectly, her right hand holding a Mega Man coffee mug. (Of course it was Mega Man, because blue.)
"Come on in, Kenzi...you look incredible today. I almost feel underdressed for the occasion," Jami sweetly told her as the voluptuous redhead waved her inside. "Please, make yourself at home. Can I get you anything to drink?"
Kenzi stood at the door for a beat longer than she meant to as she looked at Jamilyn. Kenzi had a special appreciation for the way she was dressed…it was a stark reminder to her of Alex Yin. Kenzi knew what got Alex going and Alex knew what got her motor revving. It was this look…exactly this. Kenzi smiled at Jamilyn and started to say something, but she closed her mouth as another thought intruded on the previous one. Perhaps this was no accident…and given the circumstances…that was a distinct possibility. Was this intentional on her part? Had she been with Alex already? Had Alex told her what buttons to push? The idea irritated her and put her on edge from the start.
Kenzi walked in and gave the décor and appreciable nod. “It’s nice…it’s really nice.” She turned to Jamilyn, “I’m sure everyone says that…” she chuckled, “…I’m sure that’s what Alex said too, huh?”
"Thank you for the compliment about the house, but we're not here to talk about Alex, sweetie," Jamilyn redirected the conversation. It was almost like she knew what would have distracted from the real purpose for Kenzi being here in the first place. "I'll get you some wine." As Jamilyn walked away, she could have sworn she felt Kenzi staring at her and smiled, giving a bit of extra sway to her step as she did so.
Kenzi plopped down, making herself comfortable as she did. She kept her eyes on Jamilyn, half out of appreciation and half out of wariness. She smiled as she called out after her, “Do you always serve alcohol to minors…or is this just…a special situation?” When she looked back at Kenzi, the girl gave her a wink, followed by a playful nibble at her lower lip.
She giggled, stretching out a bit. “If it’s weird to you…you can just give me a juice.” She threw her head back, “I was always a crappy drinker anyway…makes me all loose and stuff…” she looked back at Jamilyn, smiling…but in a devilish manner, “…if you know what I mean?”
Jamilyn shook her head with a smile, catching Kenzi's sinister look. "Sweetie, I won't tell if you don't. At Casa de Kami, what happens here stays here." She approached Kenzi with two glasses and sat beside her, handing her one of the glasses. "Besides, it's been my experience that special occasions are the perfect time to break the rules a little. So long as you don't overdo it, anyway." Jamilyn tapped her glass to Kenzi's and smirked with her full pouty lips. "To beautiful friends and gorgeous girls."
Kenzi smiled, “To beautiful friends and gorgeous girls, indeed.” as she chased down the wine, perhaps a bit more aggressively than she should have. Kenzi held on to her glass, watching Jamilyn with the same mixture of admiration and caution in which one would watch a beautiful exotic panther…especially since this felt decidedly predatory to her.
Kenzi did her best to relax, “This is all very nice…but I came here to clear the air between us…especially since there’s quite a bit of weirdness going on. You…being with Alexis…and…” she paused, trying not to choke on the words, “…my former fiancée…Alex.”
Kenzi finished the remainder of the glass, then held it tightly to her chest, as if it might hurdle off into space if she dared to put it down. It had been her intention to be the aggressor…but this situation and the way things were going were unnerving her more and more. “You claim that you want to help me…but to date…all you’ve done is hurt me Jamilyn. I don’t know if you mean to do it….or if it’s just accidental. It feels…” she swallowed, resolving herself not to cry or get angry, “…it feels intentional.”
Jamilyn nodded as Kenzi explained her situation, and she could tell that this wasn't the same Kenzi everyone else had been dealing with. She put her hand on Kenzi's thigh gently. "I can certainly see where things are confusing to you. But I assure you, Kenzi, I have never intentionally tried to hurt you. I know things have been complicated, to say the least...but I have honestly never meant you any harm. If I really wanted to hurt you, I'd have never yelled at Samantha for telling you to stop breathing after I saw Bobbi carrying you out of the bathroom last week. If I really wanted to hurt you, I wouldn't be trying to stop you and Lexi from fighting in the middle of the show--hell, if I really wanted to hurt you, I'd have joined in when you accidentally sent me to the floor and made me crack my head." She leaned forward and caressed Kenzi's cheek with her other hand. "And if I wanted to hurt you, I never would have risked the wrath of my Amazon by kissing your forehead after surviving an attempted drowning. I swear to you, on my grandmother's grave, Kenzi, I only mean the best for you."
Kenzi felt an electric spark from Jamilyn’s touch that awakened something inside her that she hadn’t felt in a long time. She didn’t know if it was just lust or something deeper. She wanted to believe that the woman truly wanted to help her…wanted to allow her to bare her soul…but at the moment it felt more like something else entirely.
Kenzi reached over and touched Jamilyn’s cheek as well, even as a tear traced its way down the side of her own face. “What are you doing?” She asked as a question, but it didn’t seem to be one at all. She leaned in closer to the woman, her hand moving from Jamilyn’s cheek and coursing its way past her lips and down to her delicate chin. Kenzi swallowed as her eyes moved to her lips and then back to her eyes…those lovely eyes. She leaned in and touched her lips to Jamilyn’s, closing her eyes as she did.
Jamilyn, for her part, did not object, letting Kenzi kiss her for a few moments before kissing her back, her hand cradling Kenzi's cheek as she does so. The two remained in this liplock for some time, one picking things back up right as the other seemed to be calming down. Jamilyn finally broke the kiss and smiled into Kenzi's eyes.
"I do care about you, Kenzi...I want to be your rock..." she said, wiping the tear trail away from Kenzi's cheek. "I want to know the real you. Not the Kenzi on Twitter, not the Kenzi on camera..." Jami looks at Kenzi's lips as her hand drops from Kenzi's face to her heart. "The girl that's in here." Jamilyn leaned in and kissed Kenzi again, this time deeper than they had been, her other hand moving just a little bit up Kenzi's leg as the hand that had been on her heart now cradling Kenzi's neck.
Kenzi matched Jamilyn’s urgency, but just as quickly, she broke free and scrambled up to her feet, her hands going to her face, shaking as they did. She shook her head, “No…I don’t want this…” even as she said it, she knew that she really did want it. It was the reason that was a mystery to her. This woman had stolen the one thing from her that she treasured the most…or at least she thought she had stolen her…stolen away her Alex.
She furled her brow tightly, “Is this what you did with Alex? You and Alexis?!” She wiped her mouth roughly. “What is it that you want from me? What are you trying to do to us?!” Kenzi was protesting as hard as she could, but she could feel her body betraying her every word, she just hoped that Jamilyn didn’t see it. She had come here to get answers…but she was only getting more and more confused.
Jamilyn stood up and walked up to Kenzi, wrapping her arms around the teenager. "Kenzi...you can protest all you want, but you kissed me first. You know as much as I do that you want this." Jamilyn looked square into Kenzi's eyes, and though Kenzi half-expected her eyes to turn blue like she'd seen them do before, they never did. "Please, Kenzi...it's just you and me. No cameras, no production crew, no mother to satisfy...just a girl who's misunderstood by the world, and the one woman who might be able to understand more than you think." Jamilyn leaned in and kissed Kenzi one more time, her hands now sliding to the caramel-complected girl's backside as she breathed deeply.
Kenzi felt herself wither under the relentless assault and her knees weakened for a moment. She felt herself harden as she managed to pull away and half run, half stumble to the door. She looked more like a frightened little girl than the confident woman that had come in earlier looking for answers. As she stood at the door, she fought a war inside herself. Part of her wanted to run out the door and never look back and the other…the other wanted to stay and give herself over to this person completely…lose herself inside Jamilyn.
It was that thought that broke the stalemate inside her. She turned, grabbing the door and throwing it open as she ran out of the house. As she did, the bright lights of her ever-present camera crew fell on her. She shielded her eyes, not so much from the glare as she did from the idea that they might have guessed what happened inside…or at least what almost happened. She felt her skin flush and she knew that everything about her was at risk of betraying her.
She gestured to one of the producers, “Get me a car…get me a car, NOW!”
As they scrambled, Kenzi looked back at the house, then quickly looked away. If she locked eyes with Jamilyn again, she wouldn’t be able to say no…she’d be powerless and she hated that feeling…she hated it more than anything she could imagine. She wiped her face and moved off as quickly as possible. There could not be a repeat of this…there could not be a word of this spoken to anyone…not now, and not ever!
Jamilyn, meanwhile, raised her eyebrows up toward the camera crew outside the door and sneered. She had almost forgotten about Kenzi's TV show, and that was clearly part of her resistance.
Luckily, she had good means to counteract that.
Jamilyn stepped forward and, as Kenzi was trying to move past them, pointed toward the camera crews, making a stand. "Hey, fellas, you're on private property, and I didn't give any permission for anything to be filmed here! I want all your tapes now of anything you recorded on this premises, or I'll have my lawyer file criminal charges among the lot of you except for Ms. Grey in the morning."
"And what is your lawyer gonna do, lady?" the producer who was getting the car attempted to argue.
"You ever heard of the name Drake Askari?" Jamilyn shot back with record time. THAT got the crew to cooperate, for some reason. Any and all tapes of footage they'd acquired were soon in a bag in front of Jamilyn. She nodded and spoke toward Kenzi. "I can call an Uber and have them here in a few minutes, if you'll at least come back in to wait until then."
Kenzi heard Jamilyn, but she pretended like she didn’t as she walked away with the remainder of her film crew. She wanted nothing more than to leave this place…well…maybe there was one thing that she wanted more, but that was never going to happen…NEVER! She’d given her heart to Alex Yin and Alex had trampled on it…she’d thought it had been stamped out of existence…but maybe she was wrong…maybe there was something else there.
Whatever it was…she didn’t want it…she didn’t want it at all!
Private Plane
Heading Back to New York
Kenzi has spent the majority of her time scrolling on her phone, watching videos of Mindy De Santiago’s matches…but as much as she wanted to focus her mind on the woman who might or might not show up for LAW 49, it was thoughts of Jamilyn that kept intruding on her. It was the thought that maybe she didn’t need to be so angry at Alex for leaving…for wanting to be with Jamilyn. The woman had a way about her that was damn near irresistible…bordering on the supernatural.
Kenzi wrapped her arms around herself as she tried turning her thoughts back to Mindy. She needed to get past her…if she was going to further bolster her claims to being worthy of a title opportunity. She had hoped that Mindy would see things her way and not show up at all…but it was evident that she wasn’t built that way. Mindy was going to come down to that ring and she was going to take it to Kenzi…she was going to lay hands on her and touch her like she wanted to be touched…
…WHAT THE FUCK…
Kenzi shot up out of her seat running her hands over her face. This was not going to do…this was not going to do at all! Kenzi needed to get Jamilyn Cornett off her mind and out of her life, for good! But how to do that…that was the million dollar question, wasn’t it?
The answer was clear to her on that count. While Kenzi was finding the thought of going after Jamilyn objectionable…that same courtesy didn’t extend to her friends…and one in particular. If Kenzi was going to be able to keep her eyes on the prize, that meant one thing only…she was going to have to nip this distraction in the bud once and for all!
To exorcise one demon…she was going to have bury another…
