Book 1: Siren of the sea
Chapter 15: Mutation part 2
~Off screen~
Michelle woke up on a beach and the sun was beaming harshly on her. She felt her sai next to her as her body wracked in pain. Michelle let out a loud groan as she tried to sit up. Michelle then lifted her hands up and saw blood on them. The blue blood magiblood was drained and knew she couldn’t use any of her abilities.
Michelle: Hello?!
Her voice echoed loudly in the vast emptiness. Michelle felt a tear slid from her left eye knowing she was going to die. Her healing rate was great but the injuries were life threatening. She let out a loud scream, hoping that anyone would help her or put her out of her misery.
Michelle: Help me please someone! Anyone!
“Hey, I’m here, hold on Poseidon.”
The voice felt soothing for Michelle. Her eyes started to shut again but she knew to fight the feeling. If she fell back into darkness it could be over for her. Michelle having only a bit of strength got a splash of water thrown at her eyes. Michelle let out another scream.
“Stop that! If you use all your strength it’ll get worse for you.”
Michelle: Who are you?
“Andriana, my lady.”
Andriana came into view and Michelle couldn’t help but to feel awe at her beauty. Andriana had sparkly sea coloured eyes, strawberry colour long hair, tan skin and, pearl colour teeth. Michelle smiled as Andriana pulled Michelle up slowly to a sitting position. Michelle could see her abdomen was filled with blood.
Andriana: What happened?
Michelle: We caught up in a storm; I went to grab my candle seeing how I knew that some magick was involved. I thought maybe I could get rid of it and, I was tossed off the side of the ship and before Jace was able to help me up, I knew I had to drop into the sea. Someone was tracking us and he has my other sai, so I can go back to him. Ugh I feel like crap.
Andriana: Michelle…
Michelle looked up at her again. Andriana’s eyes were filled with sadness.
Andriana: There is only one way I can save you.
Michelle: How?
Andriana grabbed a sharp rock and cut her arm opened. Michelle blinked knowing what was going to be asked of her. The scene was starting to blur for Michelle as she struggled to keep awake.
Andriana: I know this will have life changing effects but Michelle this is the only way. We don’t have medication or anything. Will you or won’t you?
Michelle nodded, giving the siren above her consent. Andriana pressed her arm against Michelle and Michelle weakly took the blood into her mouth. At first it tasted like copper but as soon as it slid down her throat, Michelle felt like she was tasting sea water. Her throat burned and she started to feel strange.
Andriana: Michelle, it’ll be okay.
Michelle: Is it supposed to hurt?
Andriana: Yes, from what I hear.
Michelle felt herself slipping.
Andriana: Rest Michelle, we’ll still be here.
Michelle: We’ll?
Andriana smiled and Michelle slipped into darkness.

“I remember that day like yesterday. You’re changed and you can’t go back, just like when you fight. I'm not gonna lie… I'm still not entirely certain how to approach this week, since I'm none the wiser than I was earlier in the week. I've been constantly unsure of what really awaits me. I'm still uncertain of who Sam Tolson is and what she has to offer but maybe I will be enlightened sooner or later. I'll just be biding my time until then.
I'll still happily stand here and pretend I know what I'm on about though. Well, I say I don't know but in a way, I do. Just because I don't know much about you, that doesn't mean for one moment that I should approach this any differently to usual. I'm faced with bouts of mystery on occasion and I still overcome those odds. I'll approach this match in the same way I always do, because that's all worked out for me in the past.
I can see that you'll be a contender, you'll be a fighter and you'll be a worthy competitor. I will give you that much but I still can't say with confidence that you'll be the toughest challenge I've ever been faced with. I have no reason to think otherwise at this point but that's fine. This, Sam, is your opportunity to prove me wrong.
I've already said that enough times this week, haven't I? I dunno... maybe. I do hope, at least, that you've been listening. I don't care whether you have or not but I would like to think that you're smart enough to understand what's being said here.
How are you going to go about that, though? Are you just gonna state claims at me and tell me what you're good at? Are you then going to head to the ring and disappoint or are you going to actually live up to your own expectations? I mean, I know how people typically approach this and it's through doing just that.
They state how amazing they are and they're going to do this and that, it doesn't matter. But then? They fail to deliver on any of those promises and frankly, it's getting a little sad now. Are you going to be one of those people or not, Sam?
I don't know what you're going to do, I'm just merely offering you options. Of course, you're free to do what you want but it's time that you start taking this seriously. I know you want this but do you want it enough? I want this. I know that's a cliche if ever there was one but it's true.
I'm in need of this because I've got some big things on the horizon so I need to ensure success consistently. I'd like to argue that I've done a pretty damn good job of that recently but you? Well, not so much.
But hey, again, do what you want. Just know that I'm prepared to give this my all and simply out-wrestle you. That's what I do in the vast majority of situations. I just... do more. I push myself. I drive myself forward until I'm right at the very top and I'm closer now than ever before so I'm not going to let the likes of you stop me and take that momentum from me again. I lost it once and I've only really started regaining it. I'm not prepared to go downhill again... that was a tough time for me and I'm not going back there.
I'm not scared by this challenge and instead, I'm just prepared to face it head on. That's the approach I should have taken from the start and I get that now.
Sam, I'll wrap things up again here but I'll be honest, I'm still not sure how to go about this. If anything, I'm more confused now than ever before because I'm just not certain whether or not you're taking this as seriously as me. Regardless, you'll get one hell of a fight from me, Sam... and I hope to see the same from you.
I'll be leaving this short and sweet because honestly Sam, I don't have a whole lot else to say to you on the matter now. I hope you've been listening, at least a little bit this week but either way, it doesn't matter. I've said my part and I'm here to just fight. Hopefully you are too, Sam but we'll have to wait and see. Good luck.”
