CTN TOWERS
New York City, New York
Domino walked onto the television set as Maleek Raheem stood on the stage and directed the last bit of fine-tuning of lights and sound equipment. She sauntered up and stood beside him, silently folding her arms as she cocked her head to the side. “Well now, aren’t you just a take charge sort of man. Never would have thought that you were such an attention to detail whore.” She looked over at him, raising and eyebrow. “You know that we actually pay people to do this stuff for us, right?”
Raheem didn’t bother to glance down at her as he continued to make his final checks. “You guys pay people to do a lot of things around here, but that don’t mean that they do th’ shit right!”
Domino nodded in agreement, “No argument from me on that…” she paused “…of course, that begs the question of how much you paid Angel Kash to take the L against Sid?”
Raheem chuckled, “SoLo been in yo’ ear, talkin’ shit, huh?”
She shook her head, “Nope, no one told me anything, but I think that even Stevie Wonder could have seen that it was no way in hell that Sid was going to look that good against Angel.”
Finally he stopped what he was doing and turned to her. “You told me you wanted it taken care of…it’s taken care of. Do I need to draw you a damn map every time I take a shit around here?!”
Domino sighed, “Look! I asked you to take care of it, and you did…I guess, but my question is how you did it and what is it going to cost?”
He rolled his eyes, “Let me deal wit’ that, since that is what I do. I take care of th’ shit that no one else around here wants to get dirty doin’!”
Domino: Candid Moment
I know that I should be happy that Sid made a huge splash against Angel in LAW, but I can’t shake the feeling that somehow whatever Raheem did to make it happen, is going to come back to bite us all in our collective asses. Yes, a win is a win, but there are some prices that are too damn high to pay. While CTN has had its dealings with Angel in the past and profited upon occasion, more often than not, the price of doing business has exceeded the reward. I guess I just have to wait and see how it shakes out.
Moving on to this weekend, I know that Raheem has his ways of getting things done. He and Kash had whatever past they had and he used that to get Sid over in her first match, but Cynthia Warren isn’t one of his bed-bunnies…at least as far as I know. I doubt that he’s going to be able to charm her into going easy on Sid and letting this last ride play out the way we all hope that it will. Maybe Raheem is right…maybe we need to start looking to hitch ourselves to another star…someone with a brighter future…
Domino walked over to the couches that had been strategically positioned in front of the would-be audience. She sat down, crossing her legs seductively as she stretched and leaned back. “Fine…you dealt with Kash, I’ll leave you to it, but what about this Cynthia Warren match? I was seriously under the impression that this comeback would be a one-and-done type deal just to get some crossover fans. Now it looks like Sid is planning on making this into a serious career…a career that can’t possibly last…not at her age.” She paused for a moment, not believing the words that were about to come out of her mouth. “Maybe you were right about us looking into getting someone younger…more relevant.”
This finally caught his full attention and he stopped what he was doing and smiled broadly. “Now you talkin’ Boss Lady!” He walked over and sat in the chair across from her. “Yo! Sid’s deal was sweet…not gonna lie, but th’ shit is old and tired now…just like she is! Th’ ship has sailed and aint nobody watching this but a bunch of other has-beens! If we stay backin’ that three-legged horse, we are all goin’ end up at th’ damn glue factory together!”
Domino sighed, she saw the writing on the wall to. She had hoped to pacify Sid and indulge her little wrestling return for a single match and then maybe some appearances and something behind the scenes…but a full blown return was not in their best interests…not long term. “So…who’s the new Triple Crown hopeful? I don’t imagine that it’s Crystal Hilton anymore…she doesn’t seem overly eager to come back into the fold.” She paused as she looked up, searching for the words, “What was that she called us…?” she nodded as she remember, “…OH! Yes, Crappy Television Network.” Her dark eyes fell on Raheem, “You must have really pissed her off when you two broke up…was it a size issue between you two?” She grinned as she gave a coy wink at him.
Raheem rolled his eyes. “Ain’t no problems here sistah, you welcome to come and see about your boy on that count!” He sighed, then gave a shrug, “After The A-Listers stable split…thanks to her I might add, she and I started movin’ in different directions. Don’t get me wrong…she and I are still cool, but you know, shit happens.”
Raheem: Candid Moment
Okay! I don’t know if Crystal and I are cool or not…specially after th’ stunt that Sid pulled on th’ last show that got her beat by The Doc. I suspect that Crystal is mo’ madder than a mutha, but I aint got shit to do wit’ that! She’s th’ one that took shit to th’ damn gutter when she smashed Sid in her interview. Hey, real talk here…Sid might got one foot in th’ grave and th’ other on a banana peel, but th’ bitch is still mad old-school devious…alls I’m sayin’!
As for what happens next wit’ Crystal, I can’t really say. I’d love to leave Sid on th’ doorstep of th’ nearest old folks home and swoop up Crystal 3 seconds later…but I guess she’s content wit’ what she’s doin’. That means that a brotha gotta go lookin’ for th’ next big thing…what or whoever that is.
Domino assessed Raheem with a critical eye. “So…if you don’t think we can get Crystal…who are you thinking of going after? Someone in LAW…or maybe someone we’ve worked with in the past?”
Raheem shrugged, “I don’t know…there are some fine honeys here in LAW who might be down to fill th’ bill.”
“Fine honeys?” Domino asked, arching her eyebrow pointedly, “I wasn’t aware that was a prerequisite for applying for a job with our organization.”
“It’s not…but it damn sure should be!” Raheem chuckled. “Serious tho! The Doc is kinda hot in th’ street right now. We could certainly do worse than a raw talent like her.”
“Is SHE a fine honey?” Domino asked.
He smiled, “OH YEAH!!”
“Yeah…” Domino replied with a bit less zeal.
Raheem sighed, “Hey! There is a whole new crop of chicks who might have what it takes. They just need th’ right push…in th’ right direction.” A small smile touched his lips, “Priscilla Price has got it goin’ on…she might have a bad rep outside th’ ring, but I heard Mammy can get it don’t inside th’ square. Summer St. Clair already knows what its like to have a show…maybe we try to bring her over to our network. It might cost a few bucks, but you got an instant following.” He paused, “Maybe we try to go a whole different direction…what about Ash Scion? She’s a wreckin’ machine…don’t gives a fuck bout nothin’ but getting’ her fight on?”
Domino folded her arms and shook her head. “Look! Sidney Grey had value…she still has value, and despite what you say, I am not going to sever our business relationship on the off chance that you MIGHT find someone else who can earn us a real return! Regardless of what Crystal Hilton had to say two weeks ago, CTN has a sterling reputation…a reputation that she didn’t mind taking advantage of to launch her little side ventures in film and music. If she’s not coming back into the fold, that’s fine…but let’s not just go off half cocked and chasing a crop of women than may not be the right fit for us!”
He smiled, “I never do anything with my cock half way!”
She rolled her eyes, but didn’t respond.
“Okay! I feel you!” he relented. “I’ll figure this thing out…I promise!”
She laced her fingers, “Fine…but in the meantime, we still have Sidney…and she has another match this weekend.” She batted her eyelashes at him, “Is Cynthia Warren going to do us the favor of not killing our gently aged golden goose in the ring?”
“There aint no guarantees…” he paused, “…but, there is always the chance that Sid is just good enough to win on her own…” he suddenly burst out laughing, “NAH! THAT BITCH GONNA GET KILLED THIS WEEKEND!”
Domino stood up as she swore under her breath. “Figure this shit out Raheem! I don’t want Sidney fucking this thing up before we have a chance to replace her and cut our losses! Make it happen, please!”
Raheem sat in the chair watching Domino walk away in a huff. He cocked his head sideways, his eyes never leaving her backside. After she rounded the bend he leaned back and clapped his hands together, rubbing them as he thought on his next move. Domino had green lit the plan to replace Sid…but it was up to him to find that person.
S.I. PHOTO SHOOT
28 July 2014
Candid Moment: Sidney
Without question…I am the greatest thing that LAW has ever seen! The fans know it and all of the women in the back know it…but that doesn’t sit well with a lot of them…more than a few in particular! That’s too damn bad! My star power is the only thing fueling LAW at the moment! Sure…it had been my plan to show up and wrestle one match and then do a few appearances and get back to doing my show, but after my performance in that first match against Angel Kash, it is CLEAR that I can still get it done inside the ring at a very high level…maybe even a championship level. I’d be a fool not to strike while the iron is hot! I know that CTN isn’t happy with my choice, but it’s my choice…period, point blank!
Jealousy just happens…I get that. Crystal Hilton is a stupid jealous bitch! She is jealous that I am more famous than her! She is jealous that I am more beautiful than her! She is jealous that Raheem doesn’t want her crusty ass anymore and has moved on to greener pastures! Crystal Hilton needs to mind her business and focus on what she seems to be best at…polishing the mats with her back.
That brings us to Cynthia Warren…the next sacrificial lamb to be offered up to the next LAW Queen of the Ring! To be honest, I don’t know anything about this woman. For all I know, she is the greatest person in the world…or she’s the biggest piece of shit walking. I can’t say and at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. Whether she put herself in my way or she just ended up there by the luck of the draw, the fact remains that she IS there and I intend to physically remove her from my path to doing the one thing that I never got to do…wear championship gold!
Now…before that happens…I get to rub my greatness in the face of everyone who has doubted me since day one of my return! Despite the supposed greatness of everyone in LAW…the lovely, yet untalented Crystal Hilton wasn’t chosen to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated! The so-called reality-tv star Summer St. Clair wasn’t chosen for the cover…I WAS! The poison disguised as candy who destroys reality stars, Ash Scion wasn’t chosen…IT WAS ME!! That goes for each and every woman in LAW…I am getting the recognition that I and I alone deserve!
None of you can be me…so settle for the next best thing…being jealous!
SoLo sat quietly in her seat checking Sidney’s calendar of appearances on her organizer, planning out every minute of the day, ensuring to account for the numerous detours that her employer was sure to insist on. Keeping Sidney on schedule was one thing, but keeping her out of trouble was a fulltime job, all unto itself. Sometimes the stress seemed overwhelming, but SoLo relished in the challenge and she thrived under pressure. She wasn’t infallible, but she was very rarely taken by surprise and…
“OH MY GOD!!! OH MY GOD!!!”
SoLo jumped to her feet as Sidney burst into the Green Room with a look of absolute horror and bewilderment on her face. SoLo rushed to her side, unsure of what was going on. Sidney had been on Cloud 9 since landing the S.I. photo shoot. It was all she could talk about all week to anyone who would listen. When they had come to the shoot location, SoLo had been relieved that it was nearly over. They would do the shoot and finally things would die down with Sidney, but apparently that was not going to be the case after all.
“Ms. Grey? What ‘s wrong?” she patted her employer on the back, “Did something happen with the shoot?”
Sidney didn’t even seem to hear SoLo at first as her eyes darted around the room rapidly, apparently searching everything, but finding nothing. Finally she focused on SoLo. “The shoot…who arranged the shoot?!! WHO DID THIS?!!”
SoLo flinched back as she stared at Sidney, “Y-You were there when I-I got the text. You took the phone from me…you responded to them and got everything set up.”
Sidney grabbed SoLo by her shoulders, glaring at her. “I…I…” The words would not come out and Sidney pushed SoLo aside as she paced across the room, wringing her hands and talking to herself. “This isn’t right…it isn’t right!!”
SoLo walked over, fearful of incurring Sidney’s wrath, but desperately needing to know what was going on. “Ms. Grey…what is it…what is going on?”
Sidney abruptly stopped. “The shoot…it’s not what we thought it was…”
“You’re not making any sense here.” SoLo said, “What as this shoot really for?”
Sidney stared at SoLo, “The unveiling of the cover…it happens on the show tomorrow night…” The color suddenly drained from her face. “WE HAVE TO STOP IT!! WE HAVE TO GET TO THE ARENA AND STOP IT!!”
Sidney didn’t explain any further, she just grabbed SoLo and bolted for the door, dragging the girl behind her.
