Personal Blog 7/19/14 – 5:39 am
Many people get butterflies in their stomach the first time they step into a new ring. They are anxious, nervous, hoping they don’t screw up with winning the match probably in the back of their mind.
Me, I suffer from none of those things. Each first match in a new promotion, is like my last in the previous one. They are nothing special. They players may be different but the object of the game remains the same for me…WIN.
Winning might be the only lesson my ‘father’ taught me before he walked away from me and my mother with my sister, Kymiku, and brother, Senji. In fact I’m sure he thought he was doing just that as he left. In his world the only thing that mattered was getting to the top and staying there, leaving all the bodies in your wake.
Now granted I didn’t expect to find myself in this situation here. Far from it really. I was brought in to train one of those I used to rail against and never thought highly of, a ‘Barbie’ as some people I know like to call them.
But fate decided to throw me a curve instead and put me back in the ring after I tried hard to stay away from it. Call it luck, call it kismet, call it an omen, but whatever it is, I plan on making the best out of it and putting many on notice while I’m here.
I’m not going to pretend I know much about my first opponent, “The Doc” or “Doc”. Outside of seeing she’s the top contender for the top title, the LAW Championship and that she’s a psychologist. It does make me wonder how weak this roster is though that a head doctor is the top challenger. No offense meant, but who’s the champ then, a kindergarten teacher?
Whatever the case may be, I’m sure they thought throwing me into the ring with the ‘Second’ best LAW has to offer would be a cake walk for her. The newbie would get their ass handed to them in their debut while the Championship challenger would be practicing for her title match in a throw away one.
I feel so sorry for her because after I’m done with her next weekend. She won’t be in any shape to fight for the title. She’ll be too busy recovering from the surprise beat down by the rookie.
It’s a shame LAW is willing to sacrifice their supposed top talent before their big night. But who knows maybe they were waiting for someone to offer a real challenge in the first place to take out the pretenders.
If ‘Doc’ was smart she’d bow out of the match and save herself the humiliation beforehand. How would it look like her going into her upcoming title match a shell of her former self, all battered, bruised and broken.
Then again, after our match, maybe I’ll be the next in line for the LAW Championship while she nurses herself back to health. Then she can re-evaluate her career choices and go back to studying the brain, instead of trying to scramble it in the ring.
I like to apologize beforehand to ‘Doc’ for what I’m going to do, cause she won’t be conscience afterward to hear me.

Rosco’s Gym, SoHo, New York
The first few days of training seemed to run into each other as Nyako prepared for her first match in LAW. A lot of things preoccupied her mind but yet she still managed to focus on the match. The last thing she wanted was for her ring rust to show in the ring.
It had been at least a year since she last stepped foot in the squared circle to actually compete. Since then she had been the trainer to the stars.
It was not the greatest of jobs in her opinion since she had to deal with their whining and excuses. It was steady work and helped keep her in shape, although even if she didn’t do the training she still would have done that part any way to keep her her toned physique in shape.
She learned at a young age to always be ready because you didn’t know what obstacle life would throw at you next. When her father took her brother and sister with him, to find what he wanted most despite the protest from her mother, she knew then she had to do whatever to survive.
She stole, lied, cheated and even degraded herself to support her and her mom. By this time her mother was a shell of her former self. Nyako had to be parent to herself and her own mother. She was used to doing just that before the family broke apart. She was the surrogate mother to her brother Senji.
It wasn’t that her own parents couldn’t do the job but both her mother and father had to work to make ends meet to take care of three children; two of which weren’t wanted by her father, that being her and her sister.
Father wanted a son so he could mold him into the man that he wish his own father would have molded him into. He wanted to be a man with power, respect, and one that was to be feared. But instead his wife bore him a girl as his first child.
That may be the reason Nyako never connected with her father because he resented her from birth. He went as far to threaten her mother ways to get rid of the child, everything from selling her off into the slave trade or just plain dumping her in the river to be done with her. Her mother pleaded with him to let Nyako stay though and promised that she would bare him a son if he did not take away their first child.
A few years later the twins, Senji and Kymiku, were born. Nyako’s father was overjoyed to finally have the son he wanted although born somewhat sickly. He wasn’t thrilled to see his wife gave birth to another girl though who seemed to be healthier than his son.
Maybe then he should have realized Kymiku would turn out to be the one who would be just like him as they got older since even at birth she proved she was destined to be the stronger one.
Still Nyako had to take care of both Senji and Kymiku while their parents worked. Despite her watched over both of them she had a connection with Senji the most. Maybe because he depended on her so much, she was the one who always nursed him back to health when he would get sick, and protected him when kids would pick on him. She was the one who even told him stories at night as he fell asleep.
Kymiku on the other hand fended for herself right from get. Ity was one thing that Nyako admired about her sister early on. She was always headstrong and self-reliant. Maybe that was why father seemed to take a shining to Kymiku more so than Senji. In Senji he saw a failure but in Kymiku he saw a success.
It didn’t stop him from taking Senji with him went he left though. He was willing to leave Kymiku behind with Nyako and their mother and take the boy to toughen him up and make him the man he wanted him to be whether it killed him or not. Kymiku though would not have any of that though. She insisted on going with their father.
Nyako tried to stop her. She didn’t want what had happened to their mother to befall Kymiku the same way. Kymiku refused to be held back though. The sister tussled a bit before Nyako chose to check on her mother. The last thing she shared with Kymiku before they walked out though was a look, telling her younger sister to look after their brother.
That was the last time she saw him. But it wasn’t the last time she had someone to look after. As stated she had her mom to worry about, then after she passed a few years later she found herself in America with a couple and a new born baby whom she grew to consider as a sister.
Now it seemed things came full circle as her only relative left has come back into her life to try to recapture something they never really had. This at a time when her life seemed to be turning upside down as time went on.
Kymiku’s sudden reappearance made Nyako take notice of one thing. She spent most of her life looking after other, but for the first time someone was offering to look after her. She just wasn’t sure if Kymiku was the right one to do it.
“So training hard I see.” Syn said as she walked into the gym Nyako found herself working out of.
Nyako’s wandering mind snapped back to the present with the sound of her agent’s sultry voice. There had been at time Nyako was attracted to the voluptuous brunette but those days were far behind her. Now it was a just a relationship based on mutual respect.
“I don’t plan on looking like a scrub in my first match in LAW. Need to give the fans something to talk about.”
“Why? Weren’t you the one who didn’t want to compete in the first place? No one would fault you if you took a dive first time out you know. Maybe with a weak showing they’ll let you out of the contract early and you’ll be done with the whole mess.”
Nyako, with a cocked brow, looked at Syn as she stood with her back against a nearby wall with her arms crossed.
“Like hell I will. Just because I’m here despite me not actually being the one to sign the contract doesn’t mean I’m going to just lie down. If there was one thing my old man taught me, it was never do a job half assed, no matter how you got into it.”
“I figured you would say as much honestly. I was just seeing if you might be having second thoughts about it all. I can still line up some of your old clients for you.”
“I was ready to move on from that anyway. I got tired of being a persona ltrainer. It was a pay check and that was it.”
“But you were willing to trade in one type of training for another?”
“At least I got to put a real hurting on someone if I trained them in wrestling.”
“Ah yes, your lust for blood. A trait you share with Oni.”
Nyako scowled at Syn as she picked up a towel and put it around her neck. “I’m nothing like Kymiku. The only thing we share is blood.”
“Oh come now Nyako,” Syn started with a smirk on her face as she eyes the lean woman before, dripping with sweat. “No need to lie to me. I remember when I first brought you in. You had that thirst to cause pain and suffering. To watch your opponent or whomever stood in your way cry out as you delivered blow after blow to them, not caring what damage you caused or the consequences that followed. It’s everything Oni does. Maybe it was you she learned it from.”
Nyako narrowed her eyes at Syn. “What are you doing? Are you trying to get a rise out of me? What is the purpose of this visit you harpy?” Nyako was starting to lose her cool.
In the back of her mind she knew Syn was trying to push her buttons. She was trying to put her in a certain frame of mind but she didn’t see the reason for doing it at all.
Syn’s smirk grew a bit more as the corners turned up into a evil grin. “I’m just trying to motivate you. These past few days I’ve seen you practice, but I’ve also seen you just go through the steps. No real purpose or meaning behind them. That’s why I was asking you if you were planning on taking a dive to Doc. Maybe you aren’t ready for the ring again, maybe that’s why you only wanted to be a trainer, so you could control how intense thigns got and be able to stop them when you wanted to.”
Nyako hated it when Syn started to play mind games, although it was also one of her stronger qualities if you wanted to call it that. She had lead many of her clients to their apex with her brand of motivation. Nyako wasn’t sure if she wanted it, especially since it hit so close to the mark.
“I’m fine Syn. Just let it go. Come next weekend, I’ll be ready for Doc.”
“I have my concerns about that.” Syn continued to push. “Have you talked ot Oni yet? Confronted SoLo? With these things weighing on your mind how could you think you’re ready for next week? I see you going into the match distracted by what your sister might do to you, that Doc will get an easy win on you cause you aren’t focused.”
“You’re a real bitch you know that.” Nyako snarled at Syn.
Syn pushed herself off the wall and walked slowly over to Nyako and looked up in to the Asian’s eyes without the hint of fear. “It’s a tough job but someone has to do it. I always want my clients to be at their best and I do whatever it takes to get them there, whether it’s massage their ego or attack it.”
“So I fall in the whip instead of the carrot category. Nice to see where I stand with you.”
“I can’t help it if you are stubborn just like Eva. If either of you just listen to me, things would go a lot smoother but no, you both have to be headstrong. Can’t be told what to do..”
Those were the same words she had used to describe her sister. Probably the only thing she admired about Kymiku, but like when they were children, it was also the things that kept others at a distance, just like Nyako was doing to Syn.
“What is it?” Syn asked as she noticed Nyako’s eye go out of focus for a moment. “Am I boring you that much? Eating too much into your prep time?”
“No, no…it’s nothing.” Nyako shook her head slightly, refocusing on the conversation with Syn.
“Well this nothing seems to keep grabbing your attention away. I would be happy to know it’s you concentrating on your upcoming match but something tells me it’s not.”
“I have it under control. I mean no offense but it’s a psychologist for god’s sake. How much do I really need to put in to thinking about her.” Nyako remarked trying to make light of the situation.
Syn narrowed her eyes as her lips tightened. “She is also the top contender for the LAW championship. So this psychologist must have enough talent to be taken more seriously.”
“I’ve seen the talent here. I’m not impressed.”
“Just like Eva…over confident.” Syn snapped.
Nyako snorted. “Hey as much as I may not see eye to eye with the Latina Chihuahua, she could at least call them like she saw them and was usually right.”
“You know I think I liked it better when you were brooding about your sister. At then you took things seriously.”
“I am taking it seriously, I’m just saying despite her being the top contender; I don’t see me having trouble with her. Maybe after fighting me, she’ll realize that she is only the contender because I wasn’t around.”
“Need I remind you, you haven’t been in a ring in real completion in over a year?”
“Hey that just means, it will be a bit more of a challenge for me.” Nyako said, starting to really feel really good.
Part of Syn was happy to see Nyako was starting to focus more on her match or at least it appeared she was, but she honestly felt Nyako was over compensating on what was really eating at her.
This is what she wanted to see and came to the gym to get from Nyako. The abrupt chance in attitude though seemed forced.
The smack talk about facing ‘The Doc’ was a nice façade but Syn could see beyond it. If Nyako could make her think she was alright heading into the upcoming weekend then Syn wouldn’t get on her about focusing on it.
“Fine have it your way dear. I just hope you aren’t overlooking your opponent.”
“Don’t worry mom, I got this. I got the footage you sent over to me last night and I’m going to study her moves. I’ll be alright.” Nyako made a shooing motion to Syn trying to kick her out of the gym so she could get back to training.
Syn reluctantly took her leave. She really wanted Nyako to get all other distractions out of her mind: her sister and her situation with SoLo. The only way that would happen though was if Syn took matters into her own hands and dealt with them herself.
She already had her driver, Boris, following Oni, despite it being nigh impossible for a 300 lbs 6’9” Russian to be inconspicuous, but it might be for the best if Oni knew she was being watched so she would leave Nyako alone.
As for SoLo, the sooner Syn got to the bottom of that situation the better. She just hoped Nyako would forgive her for it in the end.
As she left the gym, it struck her funny how she was hoping for forgiveness after things were dealt with. In the past she wouldn’t have cared, as long as her clients reached their potential she didn’t care if the loved or loathed her.
Maybe it was all her years in the business that softened her or maybe it was she saw how alienating everyone left you with nothing at the end of the day. Either way, she wasn’t quite sure if she was comfortable being the person she was now.
“Oh well, one major issue at a time.” She said to herself under her breath as she got into her car and headed back to CTN Towers.
