From Gabby's blog.
Well, it's that time again. After Crystal, comes Zelda.
Ugh. Last time I made one mistake and it cost me against Crystal Hilton. I tried so hard and gave her everything I had, but one mistake cost me a victory. I would say I’m being put through the same ringer that the Doc has been. I just stumbled against Crystal.
And from what I’ve seen, and heard, it doesn’t get any tougher than Zelda Knite. I guess she’s the measuring stick around here. I can see why, tag team champion, former holder of championships. I’ve done my studying, and I’m a mixed bag right now of nervous and psyched. I really want to be a person who isn’t a stepping stone for others. Nor do I want to be a woman who goes in there and gives a challenge, but comes up short. Because that’s not my style. I’m here to win championships. I’m here to win period. I don’t have any shame about last time out. I came up short. But I seriously don’t want to make this a habit. That’s why I’m trying with everything I have to win this week. I’ve been put in this position because obviously Lucas may want to see something out of me. Maybe he likes me, But he’s giving me the opportunity, and I don’t plan on wasting it.
Zelda, I don’t have a problem with you. But it seems that you are living on reputation, and not production anymore. I heard all the stories about how great Zelda Knite is, and how she’s the best female wrestler in the world, but I’m not intimidated by words or video game references. I get it, you’re a gamer. You like video games. Way to go. I’ve been known to pick up a controller every once in a while, and you know what, I’m pretty decent at Mario. But I’m not a gamer because unlike you, I don’t have to play Call of Duty to simulate war, because I already did that for real.
I’m not in the mood for games. I’m here to beat you. Not challenge you, not take any titles from you or disrespect what you’ve done in the past. All that is irrelevant. It’s my job to go into St. Louis and beat you. Pin your shoulders to the mat for a 3 count. After that, you can still be a gamer and all that, I don’t really care. You had your time a few years ago. My time is now. Time is moving a lot faster now, if you hadn’t noticed.
This is my shot to step up, I will not fail again. I need momentum going into Queen of the Ring. There’s only one more show before we get there after this. I’m going to make every effort to go into that match as ready as I can be, with as much steam as possible.
And that means I have to beat Zelda Knite.
Time to step up on to the battlefield once more.
"Well, things are certainly going your way." Ali said with a smirk on her face.
Ali is my best friend. She has been since before I left home. After 8 years of constantly moving from place to place, never being in one place too long, always training for the inevitable trip to the desert to play in the sandbox for a while, I finally came back and Ali was right there to greet me, and be my gal pal all the time.
I tried to ignore her as she had just dropped by my photoshoot. I concentrated on posing, but I was never that good at it.
I’ve never been a model type until I started wrestling. All of a sudden, it was about pictures and showing off my body. It never dawned on me that I was ever model material. I still don’t consider myself a model because I do some selfie shots every now and again, and that I’ve got a body I worked for. I want others to be inspired and motivated by me. If my photos drive you to work out and get yourself in shape, then I think I’ve done my job.
I finished up my last photo as Ali waited, making faces at me as I looked at pictures. I caught her and casually threw her a middle finger.
"That wasn't nice!" She replied.
"Oh please. Get over it." I shot back.
Ali just looked at me, grinning as I went to change.
"Put some clothes on!" She said, trying to slap my ass, but I swatted her hand away. I came back out and she was checking her phone.
"Call from the boyfriend?" I asked.
"No. Work. Look like tomorrow is a double shift." She replied.
"Ouch." I said, holding my hand to my heart. "Gonna be rough isn't it?"
"Shut up! Like you know anything about long hours."
I raised an eyebrow and shot her a look.
"I know a lot about long hours. Screw you." I snapped, but playfully, before hugging Ali and we headed off to lunch.
As She drove, Ali had a smile on her face. I think it was just nice that both of us had free time to finally catch up.
"So what's been up?" I asked.
"You know, the usual. Work, eat, sleep. sex. That kind of thing."
"That's usual for you."
"Yeah, It's usual for most normal people. Not the wrestling types like you."
I just rolled my eyes at the comment. Ali loved to tease people.
"Whatever. It's not as glamorous as you think."
"Oh really? You can't tell me you aren't getting any."
I wasn't shocked by the question, since it was Ali.
"Actually no. I'm in a company with almost all women, and the guys are taken. Or not attractive. Or perverts. Or creeps. Or douchebags. or..."
"Alright, alright, I get the picture." She said cutting me off.
"So you've got nothing right now? No prospects? No, anything?"
"I'm just... career focused right now. That's all. And I look. I always look. I don't like what I see most of the time."
"Man, the Army really did change you."
I smirked at her.
"Yeah, for the better. I learned to prioritize. Dick isn't that high on the list anymore."
"Jesus, Gabby, we need to get you laid."
We shared a laugh, but it's not like it's slim pickings out there, nor is it a stud stable either. I get hit on a lot, as most can tell, but it's not like I don't look, and it's not like I don't like people. I like Cassius, I like Nate, I like a lot of guys, but it's just not something I'm focused on.
"So, what's next for the big wrestling star?"
"Headed to St. Louis for the next show."
"Sounds fun. When do you get back>"
"Well the boss is pretty easy going, I get to come home every other week, it's just there's modeling now, and working out, and events here in town. I don't have too many moments like this."
"Well, let's make the most of it. And let's try to find you a boyfriend."
I scoffed at her, not liking what I heard.
"We're not finding me anybody at Olive Garden, that's for sure.
"You never know." Was her response.
Sometimes, I could just punch Ali. But, maybe she's right about some things. We'll see what the future holds.
