Holy crap, I beat Zelda Knite! I almost couldn’t believe it myself, and when I walked to the back two weeks ago, I was so happy. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I thought that maybe Zelda would be able to beat me, because of who she is, so to beat her… man that was crazy. I think I high fived everyone backstage that I could, I was so pleased with myself.
But I’m not one to try and dwell on the past. I know now that I have to take what I did in that match, and try to duplicate it, with certain changes here and there. As I am going to always try and improve my game. You never can stop getting better. I’m using it as fuel to prepare for the future. Building on what has been a pretty successful run here in LAW.
In other news, whoa, I’m kind of celebrity!
Now, at first, I was extremely skeptical of Circle TV and Maleek trying to form a partnership or cut any type of deal with me. Because well, I just associated Maleek and Circle TV with Sidney, and Sidney is a bitch. A crazy old lady who has used sneak attacks and underhanded tactics to try and win a match. And that’s just not cool. But Maleek managed to talk me into it, and to be honest, it turned out so well. I never imagined doing a fitness video for others, but it worked on so many levels, and people are actually buying it. Not that I doubted my workout was a good system, but I’m not a marketing person. I never figured just who and why these people would buy DVD’s of me working out. It’s just seemed crazy to me.
But Maleek was right, and it turned out to be a huge success. Or least they spun it that way. I do know I’m getting quite the return on it, so it was be selling somewhere. I had no idea that people would be so into it, but they were, and that’s cool. I’m enjoying helping others.
But, back to the matter of LAW 12. Oni is making her debut and man, I really hope she’s not like Sidney. I know she’s outspoken and really proud of being Korean, and that’s pretty cool. I’ve never wrestled a Korean person before. I love getting in the ring with new people, and making that try to work. I will give it my best shot against her, but damn if I’m not still riding a little high off beating Zelda. Oni is going to be tough, but I’m not about to back down. I never have backed down, and I never fucking will. Sorry, I get hyped for these types of things.
I’ve been preparing for this match all week. I’ve been seeing what little footage I could on youtube and there’s not a lot on Oni that I haven’t already seen first-hand. But, I guess there’s something good in her, as she stood up to Sidney two weeks ago. But on the other hand, she really got on Nyako as well. It’s like she’s bi-polar or something. But, I’m not one to dwell on things like that, all I know is that I’m facing her in the ring, and I’m moving one step closer to Queen of the Ring. I know it will be tough, but I’m ready for tough. I know it won’t be easy, but I never asked it to be easy. I would not have put on the uniform if I wasn’t ready, I wouldn’t have trained to be a wrestler if I wanted it to be easy. That’s what I’m about. The challenge of being successful in life. And LAW is where I’m planning on having the most success.
I’ll see you out there LAW!
I was working hard finishing the 6th DVD’s workout, the last one in the set when Ali walked in and smiled at me.
“Hard a work I see.” She said as she folded her arms.
“Sorry… Almost done here…” I replied in between breaths.
Ali sat down on in a chair as I finished up, and I grabbed a towel and went to hug her, but didn’t wipe myself off. Ali giggled as she scrambled away from me.
“Gross! Get away from me!” She shouted.
“Come on, hug me!” I said playfully.
Ali wanted nothing to do with that as she scrambled away. I stopped, and toweled off, before getting ready to go change.
“So, big celebrity now?” She asked.
“I don’t think so. It’s just a workout out DVD. People may not even buy it.” I said, being honest with myself.
“Are you kidding me? People love workout videos. They buy ‘em up all the time.” She shot back.
I thought about what Ali said a I started changing. Maybe she was right. Maybe people would buy it. I’ve always been that kind of person. Never thought I was good enough to be any kind of leader or big time player. I’ve always been the kind of person to just show up and do my job. Even all the way back to the Army. I was never one who tried to be a leader, but in the end, when it thrust on me, I was able to do it.
I came back out after changing and Ali was waiting for me.
“You really think people with just buy this?”I asked.
“Sure. Plus they can stare at your ass.” She answered, then broke into a chuckle.
“Shut up Ali” I yelled at her.
“You do know what this means though, don’t you?” She asked, smirking at herself.
“What?” I questioned
“You can never go back to Gold’s gym again. People will hound you there.”
I thought for a second, and nodded in agreement.
“I guess that’s kind of out of the question, isn’t it?” I asked, already knowing the answer.
“Face it, that ass is famous, and you are going to have to find a new spot to work out.”
“Will you stop talking about my ass!? Jesus! And where do you suppose I go? I just scheduled a gym session with a guy tomorrow.”I yelled, remembering that some guy named Mitch had asked about it.
Ali’s eyes lit up.
“Ohh. A man? Looks like Gabby’s going to get all hot and sweaty tomorrow.”
“Fuck off Ali” I shot shot back. “It’s not like that.”
“Oh? I guess we’ll just see about that, won’t we?” She said and winked.
“Sometimes, I hate you” I shot back.
We talked for a long time and had some lunch, before I drove home and got my daily things done, laundry and all that. Then it was back to more videos, more of me making sure I am 100% prepared for Oni, and all she can bring. It wasn't much to go on, but facing an opponent once can really open your eyes. But knowing your opponent is the key to victory.
