NEW YORK CITY – NEW YORK – With Queen of the Ring in the books, LAW put itself on the map with a night of truly great action. Every match was great, but one match in particular has garnered more buzz than any other for its brutality and its controversial ending. Reality star Sidney Grey and Pop Icon Crystal Hilton finally faced off inside the ring after weeks of verbal and physical confrontations. LAW booked the pair in an ‘I Quit’ match to settle it all…but at the end of the night…we all may have more questions than answers.
The two women brutalized one another as well as the special guest referee, Maleek Raheem. The fight between the two spilled outside of the ring and the violence of the match consumed not only the two competitors but at least one fan at ringside. The match culminated with Hilton locked in the same painful and highly illegal knee lock that put Cynthia Warren out of action weeks before. Hilton fought the hold and nearly broke it before apparently succumbing to the pain.
While this ending seems cut and dry, the fact of the matter is that it was anything but that! There was apparently no less than 3 times when Grey actually said the words “I Quit” but the match continued. In the end, no one heard the words “I Quit” come from Hilton’s mouth, except her best friend, Nicolette Lima, also known as ‘The Prodigy’ Nicky Silver.
LAW is likely to be dealing with the fall out for this match for some time. Both Grey and Hilton are not booked for the next show and the speculation is that both women have been named as parties in a lawsuit along with LAW by the fan who was injured during their match. Regardless of this controversy, the controversy over the end of their match still lingers.
Fans have watched and re-watched the replay and the consensus varies on who should have been named the victor in the match. Should Grey’s ‘forfeit’ at the start of the match been allowed to stand or did she actually quit later in the match? Conversely, did Hilton actually quit the match at all…and should the referee accepted what they did not hear with their own ears?
As always, we invite our readers to weigh in and leave their thoughts on this topic.
