Several days away from the much anticipated pay per view which was going to be held by LAW, where Jocelyn Ray would get her shot at redemption against Taryn Willow who had defeated her in her debut match albeit with some help. The match would undoubtedly either make or break the rest of Jocelyn’s career on LAW. With a couple of days still remaining before the event, Jocelyn decided to go back to her old roots, making a quick trip to her hometown of Toronto Canada to visit her high school where her amateur wrestling career began. As she cruises through the fairly empty streets in the evening, she finally reaches her destination. She obviously decided to visit during the evening hours since many of the kids weren’t at school at that time. She parks her car in the parking lot, takes her key out of the ignition and steps out of the car. Taking a huge whiff of the crisp evening air, she shuts the door behind her and locks it. She stands on the bottom of the entrance ramp of the school as she turns her attention to the little board that had the school’s name written on it, along with a couple of announcements.
Jocelyn Ray: Lester B. Pearson…it sure has been a while since I last stepped into this place.
She rubs her hands together and proceeds to walk up the entrance ramp that led to the doors. She pulls it open and steps inside; as the door slowly shuts behind him she looks up at the rafters, which had a number of countries flags looming overhead. As she walked through the main hall, she glanced over at the window of the library to his right. He definitely was familiar with it, since she had borrowed a ton of comic books when she was a student at the institution. Se turns right at one of the doors, pushing it open and making his way down the flight of stairs which led to the lower rooms and the gym where Jocelyn was planning on heading to at this moment. She pushes the door open which led to the gym, the room was pitch black, and the light switch could only be activated using a special key. It was obvious that she didn’t have that special key but she decided to enter anyways. Right when he steps in, he begins to cough.
Jocelyn Ray: What the hell? This place looks like it hasn’t been used in years.
She continues to carelessly walk through the dark gym, accidentally walking into the bleachers. She hits er shin hard against the steel railing, which causes a loud echo to resonate throughout the gym. Since the entrance to the gym door was open, the noise could be heard throughout the empty halls. However there was still one person hanging around the school, which of course was the janitor who had to clean things up. Once he hears the noise, he walks into the gym, using his key to activate the lighting system. As the lights slowly start to become bright the janitor begins to speak.
McCoy (Janitor): Hey kid! What the hell do you think you’re doing in the gym in the dark making that entire racket? Actually hold that thought---I don’t even want to know.
Jocelyn turns around to look at McCoy once he looks at him his mouth gapes open.
McCoy (Janitor): Hold the phone…you’re that Jocelyn kid right? I remember you were on the high school wrestling team back when you attended this school. I was the coach!
Jocelyn looks at McCoy carefully as she rubs her chin and smiles.
Jocelyn Ray: Mr. McCoy? Wow…
McCoy shrugs his shoulders as he looks at his own clothing.
McCoy (Janitor):Yeah I know, I went from being the coach of the high school wrestling team…from getting a job as a janitor. I’ve definitely reached the low point of my career.
Jocelyn Ray: Nonsense, anyone that’s lasted as long as you have in this school definitely deserves some props. Mind telling me what on earth is going on with this gym? It looks like a ghost house…
McCoy shakes his head from side to side in disappointment.
McCoy (Janitor): Well Jocelyn…as you probably know. We were the top school in the state when it came to wrestling. The world championships, the Olympics…you name it. We were the measuring stick! But a couple of years after you left, kids started to become uninterested with the sport of wrestling. Most of the students just skip class to smoke pot by the bus stop…it’s definitely a tell tale story. Oh well…I guess good things don’t last forever.
Jocelyn crouches down on the gym floor and runs her index finger along the floor, she then inspects his finger and notices a bunch of dust. She blows it away as he gets back to her feet and looks at McCoy.
Jocelyn Ray: I’ll say…it was probably for the best anyways. I mean…I’m sure the wrestling program in this school couldn’t make up for the talent I had once I graduated!
She grins and points to herself self righteously, as McCoy just rolls his eyes.
McCoy (Janitor):Very funny…I remember when you used to represent this school, you were good. Anyways…I’ve been following your professional wrestling career quite avidly, I know you just started but it’s a shame what happened to you in your debut match against Taryn.
Jocelyn shrugs her shoulders and sighs, as she reflects back to her debut match where she had lost to Taryn.
Jocelyn Ray: I’m not going to make any excuses. I lost the match. Even though there was some interference involved I should have seen it coming. Nothing is easy in this wrestling industry and some people like Taryn would do anything in takes to pick up the win and further develop her career. Maybe I should acquire that same sort of mindset…doing whatever it takes to win, even if it means bending the rules to my advantage.
Jocelyn shakes her head from side to side. NO! She shouldn’t resort to performing such underhanded tactics. She wasn’t that kind of person. If she was going to win her rematch against Taryn, she would want to do it fair and square with no shady tactics. She dismisses these thoughts from her head as she grins once more before walking up to the wall that had some mats on it, throwing some punches into them trying her best to imitate a boxer.
Jocelyn Ray: The only good thing going about this gym is that these mats are still here. Man! I remember when I would take several minutes just punching away at these things…pretty fun! Nowadays, my girlfriend Sasha really keeps me on my toes and keeps me focused on the task at hand…she’s my entire world. I’m going to dedicate my match at the pay per view to her.
She continues to throw punches into the mat, when she finally stops and looks at McCoy.
Jocelyn Ray: Well…I better get going. Just wanted to stop by and take a little tour at one of my old stompin’ grounds as my father would say. It definitely hurts seeing the gym like this…anyways, it was nice seeing you again Mr. McCoy. If you have the chance, be sure to fly out to the event at the PPV so you could take in my match first hand!
McCoy (Janitor): Haha I’ll see what I can do kiddo, take it easy.
Jocelyn nods her head as she steps out of the gym, climbing up the flight of stairs once more before stepping out of the school. She walks down the ramp and into the parking lot, about to head into her car when she notices a couple of students smoking pot near the bus stop just like McCoy had mentioned, he begins to mutter herself.
Jocelyn Ray: Freakin’ amateurs…
She laughs at herself as she steps into the car, sticking the key into the ignition, driving out of the parking lot and cruising through the empty evening road.
