“You know, there’s a lot of talk being thrown about as it regards this match. Talk about the issues of the heart, mainly the issues between Amanda and Jenni. Now, I can’t sit here and tell you much about that, of course. I wasn’t there for any of it, but I do know how much thinking about it hurts my friend. Myself, I haven’t been the luckiest in love, well, at least until lately. Certainly, things are going in a very positive direction between myself and Ashley, and I find myself falling for her more and more each day.”
“But the underlying tone of this match seems to be love, or more to the point, the death of it between two people who, at least publicly, claim that beyond all the hatred, after you peel away the veneer of venom that has been traded between them….that love still, somehow, someway, exists.”
“Jenni seems to think that I’m the forgotten person in this match, that the issues between herself and Amanda naturally push me to the side. She also thinks that I’m not ready to stand among the elite.”
“Amanda seems to think that because I used a glamour photo of myself for my picture on Twitter, that I look like a deer in the headlights when it comes to this match. She also seems to think that my preferred method of attack is somehow antiquated, somehow behind the times.”
“Funny, I’ve never watched any wrestling match where a good forearm shot wasn’t present, but I’m getting off the subject. The bottom line is, that in the single match Amanda watched, Kayla Winters did, in fact, come at me like a woman possessed. Yet I dispatched her with just a few moves. After all, wrestling matches aren’t won on points, are they?”
“But that’s all OK with me, because both of you completely dismiss everything I’ve done in my career up to this point. You discount the experience I have gained, the top-level wrestlers that I’ve stood toe-to-toe with, and some even beaten, in the ring.”
“And what that means to me is this…..while the two of you are off in your little lover’s fantasies, fawning over each other while you pretend to be at each other’s throats, I’m firmly grounded in the reality of the situation we find ourselves thrust into.”
“LAW may not officially recognize the belt Jenni wears around her waist, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a worthy championship. It doesn’t mean that there’s no prestige behind it, and it certainly doesn’t mean that I will allow myself to become an afterthought in this lovers’ quarrel.”
“Let me expand upon that thought for a little while.”
“First, let’s talk about you, Amanda.”
“A time-traveler? Really? You really have this supernatural ability to completely warp the very fabric of space and time itself, moving back and forth through the years as you see fit? Do you honestly think that for one hot second I’m going to believe that line of utter and complete bullshit?”
“Yes, I said bullshit. Sometimes I have a case of potty mouth, but in this case, it’s warranted. Because this chick honestly believes she can travel through the eras and just pop into whatever timeline she chooses!”
“And then, Amanda, you follow that dubious line of thinking by questioning my ability to stay engaged in a thirty minute match. You honestly look at the one match I have had in LAW so far and base everything off that?”
“It’s pretty clear to me that not only are you completely off your rocker, you might just need a visit from those fine young men in the white lab coats. You, my dear, are bat-shit crazy.”
“Do you really and honestly believe, down deep in your heart, that I can’t toss around a one-hundred twenty pound woman and a one-hundred ten pound woman without over-exerting myself? Are you really and truly that dumb?”
“Do you seriously think that someone that’s forty to fifty pounds heavier than the other two women in this match isn’t strong enough to do that time, after time, after time, and not have enough left in the tank to keep going?”
“Amanda, let me clue you in on something. I come from the country. I grew up in the state capital of Missouri, a place that’s as backwater and as redneck as half of Arkansas at the least, and I grew up with three older brothers. To do anything, I had to learn to keep up at a very young age. I had to learn to be as quick as they were, as fast as they were, and as strong as they were, and that’s just what I did. I adapted. I learned. I changed.”
“I don’t know about where you’re from, Amanda, but in the Midwest, you have to be able to change to survive. I not only survived, but I thrived. I spent many a sweltering summer day in catcher’s gear, sweating out both ends of a doubleheader, only to get up the next day and do it all over again.”
“Since becoming a professional wrestler, doing cardio has been at or near the top of my priority list. Ahead of striking, ahead of weightlifting, ahead of just about anything else. In short, I’ve been trained by the best to outlast the best.”
“That brings me to you, my fair Jenni.”
“There were a couple of things you said that really caught my attention, beyond the fact that you acknowledge that I am the forgotten factor in this little dance of ours.”
“The first being our friendship. I do consider you a friend, Jenni, and unless or until given a reason to, I always will. But don’t mistake my friendship for weakness. Amanda flat-out told the world that she’s going to laugh when you shove the knife into my back, and I’ve certainly done my homework on you and some of your more dubious tactics. That means that not only am I aware that there may be some sort of an in-ring double-cross coming, frankly, I expect it.”
“Not because I think ill of you, but because it’s simply the nature of this match. It’s how these things work, and I’m prepared for that moment you might attack me right after we possibly dispatch Amanda together. To be honest, I’m not going to hold it against you, either, because I know you want to win just as bad as I do. We’re not in this sport to just be another pretty face in the sea of endless wrestlers, but we both want to stand out and become the very best we can be.”
“But something else you said really caught my attention, and it was a little shocking coming from my friend.”
“You think I’m not on your level.”
“Jenni, while I fully intend on winning that title belt you hold so dear, let’s not lose sight of the fact that it’s a title you created for yourself. Let’s not forget that to be a champion, you created a championship and deemed yourself the only one worthy of holding it.”
“Now, I stand by what I told Amanda. That doesn’t make it any less important or any less valuable, in my eyes at least. But the fact remains that it’s an unrecognized championship in a company with a long and rich championship history, envisioned by someone who might feel slighted by a lack of opportunities at the titles currently sponsored.”
“And despite all of that, it’s water under the bridge, because come Sunday night, in my backyard, I’m going to take that title from you, real, imagined, or otherwise. You make the same mistake Amanda makes, Jenni, and that you’re basing what you know of me off one match.”
“I confess, I’ve been on my own in the wrestling world for just over a year, but in that year I have a good forty to fifty matches under my belt, some of them in high-pressure situations just like this one. I’ve danced the three-way dance, I’ve done the ironwoman rules, and with each match I have come away from it better than I was before, win or lose.”
“Can you say the same, Jenni? Can you say that you are better today than you were a year ago? Or have you been too focused on entertaining the fans, rather than beating your opponents?”
“Have you gone to Japan to learn? Have you gone to Mexico to gain more knowledge and additional skills? Have you flown to Germany to put yourself through the ringer to toughen yourself?”
“I’ve done all of that and more in the last year.”
“Not on your level, Jenni? I think you’re in for an extremely rude awakening very soon, my dear friend.”
“So here’s the brass tacks of it all, for the both of you. The bottom line, the end game, the overarching problem both of you face when it comes to me.”
“I’m bigger, I’m faster, and I’m stronger than both of you.”
“Despite my friendship with one of you, I have no problems driving either of you into the canvas as many times as it takes to get as many victories as I need.”
“And let’s just call a spade a spade here, each of you is more worried about showing the other up than defeating me, which gives me a clear and decided advantage going into this match.”
“So forget about me if you will, ignore me at your peril.”
“By the time those thirty minutes have finished, one thing will be certain.”
“I’m not on either of your levels…
“...I’m on a level that’s far beyond you.”
"Reality sucks, doesn't it?"
“But the underlying tone of this match seems to be love, or more to the point, the death of it between two people who, at least publicly, claim that beyond all the hatred, after you peel away the veneer of venom that has been traded between them….that love still, somehow, someway, exists.”
