A bar located somewhere in Nagoya, a younger Etsuko sits up at the bar leaning over her bottle of booze when a drunken man approaches at the behest of his friends, his business tie tied up around his head and face bright red. He staggers in his walk until he drops himself to the bar next to Etsuko looking the woman in the short skirt over.
Man: [Hey...you one'a them...on the show.]
His Japanese was certainly slurring and Etsuko was having a troublesome time already trying to ignore him, but the man only keeps up.
Man: [Yeah, one'a them *hic* wrasslers.]
Etsuko tries and tries to ignore as the man only inches himself in closer toward the woman just trying to enjoy her drink, or whatever was left of it. Unfortunately, that all changes when she feels a hand rubbing the curvature of her backside.
Man: [You good...wrassler...horizontal?]
He laughs as his friends toast him in his recently found fortunes before Etsuko rests the bottle down, but refuses to let go as she turns resting a hand on the man's cheek. The man just stares back in utter disbelief over the way Etsuko tenderly strokes her hand and even leans in. Of course, this moment doesn't last for very long as Etsuko leans out of her own way so she can smash the bottle across the top of the man's head. He goes down to his knees clutching his head as his tie already begins to soak up the blood. Etsuko looks at the remainder of the bottle and sighs shaking out whatever drops were in there down into her mouth before leaving not even noticing the blond woman in red watching her. Even as the woman rises from her seat and follows, Etsuko just makes her way outside.]
Woman: [This is where you see yourself, is it?]
The woman eventually asks when she steps out when she notices Etsuko teetering herself even on the sidewalk.
Woman: [ I caught your match, you're quite talented.]
Etsuko replies by flipping the woman off and smiles.
Etsuko: [ I don't make it a point to entertain foreigners. Especially those that follow me after the show.]
Woman: [This isn't a simple stalking job, this is your doorway to a better life.]
Etsuko bursts out laughing for a moment.
Etsuko: [Are you some bored millionaire or something? I'm perfectly fine where I am. Now...shoo.]
Woman: [Your talents are squandered where you are. You compete in underground catfights that--]
Etsuko: [Wrestling.]
Woman: [Cat fights.]
Etsuko still glares at the woman's refusal to agree, but says nothing.
Woman: [ A tarp is your ring and fifty people plus whoever watches your late night bouts on the internet are your audience.]
Etsuko: [You one of them?]
Woman: [For the past couple months, yes. Scrappers looking for a change to their destiny, it's those that I sort through until I find the one rose. You are that rose, Mitzusaka-san.]
Etsuko looks the woman over for a moment trying to get a fix on her, or if nothing else something of a reading. But she's too inebriated to even stand up straight. Still, even now the woman can make enough sense to her. When she thinks about it there really isn't much to lose.
Woman: [Come with me and discover the real you.]
Etsuko: [For how long?]
Woman: [Not for me to decide.]
Etsuko takes that as her being the deciding factor there herself, so she figures she'll give it a try then and nods.
Etsuko: [Alright. Why not? Introduce me to myself, um...]
The woman smiles and removes her sunglasses.
Nikki: Nikki.
Etsuko: Nikki. Nikki...
Nikki: Just Nikki.
We join back in with Etsuko inside of the Red Gym where the joshi stands inside the ring dressed in her ring attire and with a hint of sweat along her arms and brow. Outside of the ring is the still cloaked and masked Nikki watching over the red sacrificial mask along the apron. The mask that has been in preparation since just after Queen of the Ring 2016. The mask that, if Etsuko has her way, will be resting across Mackenzie's face post match.
Etsuko: Slavery is a strong word to just throw around, Miss. Mackenzie. It reeks of hardships and pure exploitation. One of which you yourself carry in spades while the other appears lost on you.
She begins remaining perfectly still.
Etsuko: I am certain you are looking at the word “hardship” and seeing yourself as though it were the mirror of your career. Unfortunately, that is in no way the case as exploitation is the name of your game. Exploitation of the Marquee championship. The title you are so proud to hold yet never offer up. While it is impressive you have held the title as of January of this year, one must remember that a champion is not measured by the amount of days she hides underneath of her bed, but the amount of times she is declared victorious after a title match.
Fightin' words right there. Gotta be.
Etsuko: But your comment was directed toward me, that I was the slave. Why? How? Because I have found a suitable place to belong? Where I am treated as more of a fighter than a child? I do follow the Goddess, but not as a slave. I do not lack free will, I am not her “gopher girl”. Perhaps, Miss. Mackenzie, you were referring to the collar.
The shock collar, which Etsuko gently plants her fingertip along.
Etsuko: You think this is to keep me obedient. To keep me from straying too far off the path set to me by Miss. Nikki.
Nikki brings up her head slowly at the mention of her name.
Etsuko: No, I have said this time and again; this collar is for the benefit of my opponents. Of individuals like yourself, Miss. Mackenzie. There is a darker side to me, Miss. Mackenzie, whether you believe it or not, a darker side that would bathe in your blood if I could squeeze enough out of you.
Fearing Etsuko might be readying herself for just that come match time, Nikki brings out the remote to hopefully act as a reminder to keep her focus.
Etsuko: I would bite through your flesh and gnaw on your bone while you screamed and wished there were some way in which I could be sto--
Speak of the devil. Etsuko arches out her back and grips the collar at the base of her neck before falling to her knees waiting a moment before laughing some.
Etsuko: This is what the collar is for, Miss. Mackenzie, to protect you.
So she was just looking for a shock. Well, she certainly got one as Nikki brings the remote back into the cloaks pocket watching now as her charge works her way back up to her feet. She staggers some but manages to keep her balance with some effort.
Etsuko: You also claimed,
She resumes before pausing for a few short breaths.
Etsuko: That my presence this past week during your match with the Naughty Girls was an intentional distraction. No. If you were paying attention to my earlier promo I stated that wasn't even the case. But, whatever argument works for you.
Etsuko's tone certainly suggests a lack of interest in arguing such a thing.
Etsuko: I came to watch you, to study you. Something I was under the assumption you have been doing since Queen of the Ring was over and I was announced your number one contender. It is just that this last week, curiosity got the better of me and I required a closer look. It is something you should have seen coming though, and you hold no one to blame but yourself for what happened. Perhaps that is why management refuses to celebrate or even further acknowledge your title holding the way you wish them to. Because deep down; you are a child.
Her eyes narrow now as she continues.
Etsuko: You clutch onto your mediocre fame declaring it worth the solid attention of others but you have done little to make it into anything. Even if you do defeat me and continue until you set some record, all it'll be is a hurdle for someone else to chase after and when they clear it you'll have nothing. You'll become nothing. Second,
Etsuko emphasizes the point by holding up a coupld fingers briefly.
Etsuko: Longest reign, not the second best champion. Your name will become synonymous with weak-willed champions. Miss. Mackenzie, you are the very definition of what it is to not be a proper champion. You believe greatness is in length, not dedication. Normally I would accept an argument that you have been pushing for more and more title defenses, but I cannot as lately you have, again, been nothing but a champion expecting management to acknowledge nothing but the length of time you have held the belt.
She takes a few calming breaths before she gets too riled up. Unfortunately they don't completely calm her down as she still seems somewhat agitated.
Etsuko: Therefore, it will be more than business when I enter the ring and defeat you for the Marquee championship to earn my first shining moment. It will be a pleasure to dethrone someone the likes of you. Someone who knows nothing about sacrifice, nothing about honor, nothing about your challengers!
One long breath and she's back to, well, where she was after her breaths. But she comes up straight and points toward herself.
Etsuko: I am Etsuko Mitzusaka, banner bearer within Ladies All Star Wrestling for the Red Lady. I am not some slave nor am I a mere pushover. I have been in this industry for close to five years and I have tasted enough aroma off of title belts to fully understand that I want one. This weekend will finally hold my night of glory as I defeat you and become the new Marquee Champion! Until then, I expect your facts to be brought into order.
Etsuko continues her glare until the scene
fades in red.
Man: [Hey...you one'a them...on the show.]
