We open in downtown Las Vegas where the bright neon lights are shining and the people are walking the streets. The sounds of the busy city are in full force as the gambling, shows, and music are seen and heard throughout but there is one girl, one person who is just in awe at the city as a whole and that person, that person is Jennifer Drew. Now, the only thing she could really do was walk around on the Strip because she wasn’t old enough to much of anything else there yet which really did bum her out a little bit but, it was probably for the best for her since she knew how quickly she could get addicted to things so, maybe it was best that she just walked around and took in all the amazing lights and sites that the Las Vegas Strip had to offer. She stopped next to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and just looked at it with shock and awe, it was clear she never saw anything like this before in her life so, it was something great and something she wanted to remember for the rest of her life so she was taking in every second of it.
Jenn: Las Vegas, Nevada, the gambling capital of the United States of America. All the lights, glam, and riches in this one little area of a city is amazing. Las Vegas has a way to either make a person really, really rich or it can make you dirt poor. That’s the horrible reality of this place behind all the glitz and glamour, the lights and music, and everything else this city has to offer the people. See, behind the busy streets and hustle and bustle of everyone looking to win it big here stands one fact, people want that quick way to the top of the mountain. The eight competitors in LAW’s Queen of the Ring Tournament are no different. We all want the quick way to the top of the mountain and this tournament is our gamble. We have to go all in during this tournament if we want to make it to the top and win it all.
We are at the final table of a massive poker tournament and we are the final eight going head to head with one other person at first but still competing against the other six ladies. See, each match, we both go all in hoping to have the best possible hand. We all hope for that Royal Flush that will help bring us the victory in each of our matches. Sure, when we all start, we’re on even footing and we are all able to move forward but, as the cards start to be dealt throughout the course of the match the odds start to go down for one of the competitors before the ultimate defeat happens and one person has the best hand and eliminates their opponent and moves forward to the next table to take on that survivor until they hit the third and final table where everything they have won up until that point, all the money, all the effort they have put into this tournament just to make it to the end will be here and both ladies will put it all on the line for a chance at fame and fortune and a shot to get to the very top of the LAW mountain and and challenge whoever the LAW Champion is after the night is over. Some would say the risk of putting yourself on the line up to three times all for a chance at a championship isn’t worth it but, I beg to differ.
See, the chance at the very title everyone wants is well worth putting yourself all in up to three times in one night because everyone in the locker room would love to be in our position for a chance to make our way to the top of the food chain and challenge the champion. People would kill to be in our position but, only a select few of us are lucky enough to be put in this position for success. For some of us, it’s the first time the LAW fans will get to see us for others, it will be just another day at the office for them in front of these fans. It’s all about not showing your opponent too much early and not showing your opponents your hand and what you have to put on the table for this match to make it worthwhile.
No, you need to keep a straight face and know how to bluff a little bit from time to time and let your opponents think they have the upper hand on you. You need to make your opponents believe you don’t have what it takes to beat them and that they have the better hand. You want to lull them into a false sense of security because at the end of the day, that’s how you always win a game of poker. That’s what this tournament is like in a lot of ways, it’s a lot like poker and I have always been a good poker player. I know when to show my hand or when to let my competition think they have me figured out and I think my opponents have me all figured out here in the Queen of the Ring Tournament. They have all counted me out, especially my first round opponent. Miyoko thinks she has me all figured out doesn’t she? She thinks I’m simply a rocker that is pretending to be a wrestler but, I’m a wrestler first and rocker second, that’s how it is for me. I will always be a wrestler first because it was something I grew up loving and music came after and I have fallen in love with it as well but, I would rather be in the middle of a ring wrestling and putting my body on the line.
Jenn starts to walk down the sidewalk past all the casinos and hotels and other various shops on the Las Vegas Strip still taking in all the sites and sounds of the city that she has never visited before in her life.
Jenn: I like it when people have me “figured out” because that is the moment they know nothing about me. People act like they are the end all be all of professional wrestling when they have no clue about people they are competing against. Like I said before, not one person in this tournament even decided to mention my name or even give me a thought which must mean I am an afterthought to all of them which is a big mistake. Nobody should be overlooking me because I’m a scrappy little girl who may not be the biggest or the strongest or the most athletic but, I’m someone that you can’t overlook because I dig deep each time I’m in the ring and I refuse to go down easy despite what people may think about me. They only look at me as someone who probably doesn’t deserve to be in this tournament and I’m sure there are plenty of people who would agree, especially those on the roster that were left off the card and a spot in the Queen of the Ring was given to some girl who is just debuting and has barely even wrestled in professional setting.
Trust me, I know that people will look past me because I have the least amount of experience here in this whole tournament and that will actually work to my disadvantage throughout the whole thing because as the matches move forward, the more tired you will get and the more experience and training will really help. I can train all I want but, the fact remains I will be at a huge disadvantage when it comes to experience among all of these women. It’s tough for me but the only way I get better is to step into the ring with people who have more experience than I do and learn from them because they know what it takes to win in the ring and they will bring out everything in me to make sure I beat them and that will make me that much better and that will help me learn a whole lot more.
Now, my first round match is the most important one because it will set the tone for me here in LAW. My first match is against Miyoko Oshiro who thinks she isn’t going to have to work very hard to defeat me. I saw her little promo video and she looked very confident and she thinks there is no chance in hell she is going to lose to me because she has fought people twice her size and kicked their ass. She assumes that just because I’m a so called rocker I don’t deserve to be in a wrestling ring. Please Miyoko tell me more about how people don’t deserve to be in a ring, especially if you don’t know anything about them and just assume you know who they are because of something else entirely. I’m not going to sit here and guarantee a win over you because nothing in this business is for certain, I’ve come to figure that one out just by watching my cousin.
See, what I lack in experience in the ring, I make up for in knowledge and lessons Amy has taught me about the wrestling world and what I need to look for when I’m scouting my opponents. She has taught me a lot about wrestling, she even helped to train me when I first got out of rehab and decided this is what I wanted to do for a living. She trained me for free and helped me get going and fall in love with this sport all over again. I really do owe her a lot and this tournament is going to be dedicated to her because she told me she is going to come to the show to cheer me on. I’m excited about that but nervous at the same time because I know she will be cheering me on but, after all of it is over, she will be critiquing me and telling me what I could have done better and what I failed at because that is what she does, especially in wrestling because she lives and breathes the wrestling industry, she has from the time she was fourteen years old.
Jenn smiles and shakes her head as continues to walk down the sidewalk passing by all the casinos and hotels covering the Las Vegas Strip.
Jenn: Anyway, back to the task at hand, first I need to take care of Miyoko. I have to ensure that my gamble of stepping into that ring with her pays off and at the end of it, the dealer gives me the best hand and I am the one walking out of this match with all the chips and moving onto the next table to try my hand again. It something every great has to do in order to try and get ahead. Every single time we step into that ring we gamble on whether or not we are going to win or lose or if we are even going to walk out of the match one hundred percent healthy but, for anyone that steps into the wrestling, we all know the risk and we all know what the rewards could be and for us, we all agree that the reward out weighs the risk involved. To me, that’s what this is all about, taking the ultimate risk and leaving your all out there in the ring and for us in this tournament, we are able to advance to the top of the challenger food chain and hop right up to the number one contendership for the LAW Championship.
Now, I’ve said my piece on all of this and we are only a couple of days away from the biggest event of my young career and there is no way in hell that I plan on letting it slip through my fingers but, I do know this, if I’m not able to win it, I know that whoever does certainly will deserve it. Trust me, anyone that is able to win three matches in one night is more than deserving of the title of Queen of the Ring and a shot at the World Title and whoever comes in second deserves their shot at the Marquee Championship. I’m not going to sit here and say that nobody but me deserves that shot at the World Title because that isn’t the case, there isn’t much a reason for me to say I deserve a World Title shot because I haven’t really been wrestling for very long but, that doesn’t mean I’m not going to go out to that ring and try and prove to people that maybe, just maybe I have what it takes to challenge for the top title here in LAW and quite possibly become the World Champion.
Now, it’s time for me to enjoy time with my sister who just so happens to live out here in Vegas and just relax with her for the rest of the evening and catch up because we haven’t had time lately to do just that. I will see all of you great people out here on Sunday for Queen of the Ring so please, take care and rock on.
Jenn blows a kiss to the camera before flashing the devil horns and smiling and walking off around the corner as the scene fades out.
