Candid Moment: Sidney Grey
Should I be upset that our vaunted Marquee Champion hasn’t seen fit to mention me or should I be pleased that I am being overlooked? I honestly don’t know how I should feel about Gabby Camacho at the moment. Right now, my career is stalled…I don’t have a purpose for the first time in a long time. I could toss my hat into the proverbial ring and demand that I get a shot at The Marquee Title as well…but I honestly don’t see the point. With so many women clambering for the chance, I’d feel like I was just piling on.
Don’t get me wrong…I could give a shit about Gabby. I’d like to see nothing more than her laying on her ample backside as someone else stood over her and held that title high in the air…well…so long as it wasn’t Nyako! That yammering zipper head needs to keep my name out of her mouth before I replace it with my fist. She and her screwball sister owe me for even having a job in LAW and those ungrateful bitches have done nothing but get in my way. If not for the two of them, Camacho would have never even gotten a shot at the Marquee Title…yet another reason to hate them…but I’ll deal with them soon enough.
As I head into LAW this weekend, I’m not going there to lay claim to anything…I’m going in there to make a statement against an inferior competitor. Gabby Camacho might have her focus on holding on to that Marquee Title…but I have my focus on making sure that her run with that belt ends the same way that it ended for Violet, with a vicious beating and a vacated title! I intend to play the spoiler this weekend. No one is going to see Gabby defend that belt, because she isn’t going to be around to defend it!
All of you women who have been lining up and licking your chops to be the one to pin Gabby and take that belt can just stop and turn your attention to each other! At LAW #16 I am going to send our fat ass Marquee Champion out of Music City in a box and then I’m going giggle my ass off as Lucas Dupree scrambles to put together a match to decide who the real Marquee Champion should be!
The tearing sound of paper was heard as Sidney ripped the latest edition of CTN Magazine to shreds, tossing the remains onto the floor. She angrily kicked at the pieces, sending them flying. SoLo walked into the room and frowned as she witnessed the scene. “Errr…Ms. Grey, are you okay?”
Sidney stared at SoLo, narrowing her eyes contemptuously. “Do I fucking LOOK okay?!” Before SoLo could reply, she pointed a the scattered fragments which had formally depicted Gabby Camacho on the cover wearing the LAW Marquee Title. “I am the face of CTN…my show is the flagship for broadcasting on that network, but am I on the cover of their magazine? NO! That flabby-assed, moogle-faced, hack is on the cover! What in the hell has she done other than make some stupid fucking workout DVDs that double as Frat-Party porn?!” She ran her hands through her hair in frustration. “I am NOT going to stand by and watch as that bitch gets all my press…that company needs an enema!”
“Isn’t that from a movie?” SoLo added as she stared at Sidney.
Sidney sighed as she walked over and plopped down on the couch. She leaned back and put her hand on her forehead. “Be a dear and get me a drink…something strong, this is going to be a day that I want to forget as quickly as possible.”
SoLo walked over to the bar and immediately began fixing Sidney a drink, as she had requested. “You know, there’s no reason that you can’t get along with Ms. Camacho. I mean, as far as I know, she doesn’t really have anything against you.” She finished making the drink and carried it over to Sidney. “If you like, I can talk to Mr. Raheem and see about getting you better promotion with the company. It seems to be working for my sist…”
Sidney sat up and snatched the drink out of her hand, her eyes glaring at SoLo. “AND THAT IS ANOTHER ONE!!” Sidney gulped down her drink, completely draining the glass in a single pull. She shoved the empty back into SoLo’s hand and waved for her to make her another. “Nyako has to be the ugliest woman that I have ever seen! How is that bitch on the cover one month and in the centerfold the next?! She looks like a fucking man!”
“Nyako is a beautiful woman…and you know that Mom!” Sidney and SoLo turned to the door as Kenzi breezed in, pausing at the entranceway with her arms folded as she glared at her mother critically.
Sidney snorted, “So…you siding against your own mother for some stranger because she showed you a few moves?”
Kenzi rolled her eyes as she walked over to Sidney, kissed her on the cheek and then plopped down on the couch across from her. “I’m not on anyone’s side here, because there are no sides! You might not like it, but Nyako is a friend…a good friend! She’d be a good friend to you as well if you’d stop being a bitch!”
SoLo smiled at Kenzi, winking at her for standing up for her sister as she brought Sidney her refill. Sidney saw the exchange and rolled her eyes as she took the glass from SoLo. Her eyes found Kenzi’s, “Friends? Is that what you think I need?”
Kenzi smirked, “Everyone needs friends Mom.” She leaned over and plucked the drink from her mother’s hand, sitting it out of her reach. “Everyone needs someone to help them make better choices when they are screwing up!”
Sidney couldn’t help but laugh. “Really?” She leaned forward with a devilish smirk. “For your information…I have a friend…a really good one!”
Sidney reached for the glass, but Kenzi moved it further out of her reach. She gave her mother a reproachful look. “I hope to God you aint talking about Summer St. Clair! That skank didn’t do nothing but leave you high and dry after you put the Marquee Title on her!”

Okay…fair enough, I am woman enough to admit that the alliance with Summer St. Clair wasn’t the best move I ever made. I put the Marquee Title on her and in exchange she was suppose to help me at Queen of the Ring. That was a huge bust and I ended up having to fend for myself. However…all in all…our association did have the fringe benefit of saving my show. I’m over it and I have moved on. Summer isn’t even on my RADAR anymore.
Sidney smirked at Kenzi, “Summer is over sweetheart! When I say I have a friend…I mean a REAL friend…” she grinned as she examined her nails. “Maybe even friends…” she looked at Kenzi and winked, “…that’s plural!”
Kenzi looked at SoLo in the hopes that she knew what Sidney was talking about, but the girl shook her head and shrugged. Kenzi turned back to her mother, narrowing her eyes. “What are you talking about Mom? What are you planning?”
Sidney continued to smile. “Wouldn’t you like to know…Foxy!” She giggled, “Don’t worry about me…just watch the show on Sunday and you’ll see. I’m going to deal with Gabby Camacho and anyone else who thinks that they are going to get in my way!”
Before Kenzi or SoLo could say anything, there was a knock on the door. Kenzi looked at her mother, “We aren’t finished here Mom.” Kenzi walked to the door and answered it, but was surprised to se Maxi, the make-up specialist from her movie set standing there with her rolling travel bag in hand. Kenzi gave her a confused look, “Max? What are you doing here?”
“She’s here to see me.” Sidney walked over and invited Maxi inside. She turned and looked at Kenzi and SoLo. “If you girls don’t mind…Maxi and I have a bit of business to take care of before tomorrow.”
Kenzi folded her arms across her chest and glared at Sidney. “What in the hell are you up to?!”
Sidney grinned as she ushered Kenzi and SoLo out of the room. “Tune into LAW on Sunday…and you’ll find out…”
