Trisha paced back and forth in front of Syn and Raheem as several posters hung behind her of mock-ups for the DVD covers for her proposed release of Oni’s DVD sex video. She eyed the pair as they looked at the posters, gauging their reactions. Raheem was an open book, he stroked his chin as a substitute for stroking himself. ‘Typical’ she thought to herself. When she looked over at Syn, her mood darkened, she could see the distain on the woman’s face…what she couldn’t figure out was if that distain was for what she was doing to Oni and her client or if it was just jealousy because Syn could see that she was about to surpass her.
Every since the last episode of ‘Rumor Has It’ where FAQ had told the world that there was a behind the scenes conspiracy to take the video from her. As a result, over the last few weeks Trisha had been completely paranoid of everyone and everything. If she had to put money on it…she would say that without a doubt, Syn was the one behind all of this. Sure, she was Nyako’s manager and she was doing what she could to protect her client, but Syn was also ambitious and she wanted even more success for herself. If she said anything different, she would have been lying. Trisha had been with CTN just as long as Syn had and she had seen the woman’s humble beginnings and the way she had fought and clawed her way to the top. Syn had done horrible things to advance her own cause…so now, the very thought that Syn was taking some moral high ground was laughable. If Syn had the video…she would use it…and there was no doubt in her mind that this was the enemy that she had to watch out for.
Syn had allies in CTN…powerful executives that would back her play for a little back scratching down the road. That was the thing that trouble Trisha. She had no allies that she could rely on…partly because they were all too damn greedy. They all wanted a bigger slice of the pie than they were due. Why couldn’t they be content with what she was willing to offer them?
She looked at Raheem, and the hint of a smile touched her lips. Raheem would be the perfect ally against Syn and whomever else was behind the scenes, working against her. He was an open book…and while he could be as greedy as the rest…at the end of the day, she knew what made him tick and she could control him, and he would thank her for it.
She rubbed her hands together, secure in the knowledge that she now had a plan and her goals were close to being realized. “Okay…I don’t have time to bullshit around…first things first, I know that you, Ms. Syn, are responsible for wanting to take control of the video from me…I’m not stupid! I saw the story on ‘Rumor Has It’ and it is more than apparent that you are the one trying to lobby for support from the executives.” She gave a dismissive wave. “Spare me any lies or protests to the contrary, since that would diminish any respect that I have left for you. You see, here is the deal…all of this crap you have been talking about protecting your client is just that…a load of crap! You want control of the video so you can advance your position here…but that is not going to happen! I brought you here today to make that clear to you…bottom line!”
