SoLo felt terrible as she made her way to Alex’s home with the contract that Sidney Grey had directed her to draw up, still hot in her hands. The terms were simple, a match between Sidney and Alex…a turtle shell on a pole match. Sidney would have to climb the pole to grab the shell in order to win the match, while Alex would have to successfully execute the ‘KMA’ in order to win. The prize was the empty shell of Alex’s beloved pet Zip. The rules were plain…almost comical, but in typical fashion, Sidney had found a way to make it heinous.
With everything going on between her sisters and U.S.A., this was one more thing that made being a middle-man difficult. I hurt her to know that her role in all of this was to function as a mediator while everyone else was locked in combat. She needed to find a way to do more than shuffle paperwork…to be more than just the ‘Voice of U.S.A.’ She was done sitting on the sidelines, and this was going to be the last time she rode the bench while the other girls took the fight to the Pink Ladies.
SoLo knocked on Alex’s door and waited for an answer. All she needed to do was to get the girl to sign the contract and once she brought it back to Sidney, she would trade it for Chewie. Alex would have her pet back and Sidney would have the match that she wanted…her chance to punish Alex for being in league with U.S.A.

Seeing how easily Alex transitioned into being in a great mood vastly improved SoLo’s. She smiled for the first time in as many days as she could remember. She nodded, patting her tummy as she felt the grumble, but even as she stepped inside, the contract in her hand reminded her of the business at hand.
She paused, putting her hand on Alex’s arm. “Wait…I have the contract. All you have to do is sign it and I can have Chewie here in less than five minutes.”
She wanted to spend more time enjoying Alex’s presence, but she knew that the girl was in shambles after the events of the last few weeks. She handed Alex the contract with a frown. “Pretty standard stuff…except for the stipulations…”
Alex practically snatched the pen from Song, eagerly wanting Chewie back.
Alex: Give me five minutes and I'll have my Chewie back!
Alex suddenly feels something on her shoulder. She'd put her tiny new tortoise, George on her shoulder and he was now crawling to her face. Alex picked George up and stared the tiny reptile in the face.
Alex: Oh, Georgie...
Alex then hugs Song as she takes the contract and signs it.

SoLo was eager to join Alex in having pancakes, but there was another matter that needed her immediate attention now. She looked at the contract and tucked it away. “Give me a few minutes Alex…I’ll be right back with Chewie.”
SoLo pulled out her phone and called Sidney, “Ms. Grey? Yes…she signed the contract so I’ll be coming over to ge…” SoLo paused as Sid cut her off. She looked at Alex, her mouth hanging open. “THAT WASN’T THE DEAL!” SoLo stared at Alex again, covering the phone, “She wants to come here and bring Chewie herself! No way Alex! I am not going to allow that!!”
Alex threw up her hands, a smile never leaving her face.
Alex: As long as she brings Chewie, nothing will dampen my spirits. I'll even cook up a few spare pancakes. I might have some pikelets in the cupboard as well.
Alex then gestured for the phone as Song, reluctantly, handed it over.
Alex: Ms. Grey? Yes, it's Alex...Alex Yin...you know very well....just bring my chinchilla....nice talking to you as well. See ya!
Alex then shut off the phone and handed it back to Song.

SoLo was flabbergasted at Alex’s easy ability to just ignore the fact that Sid was a monster…a monster that she just willy-nilly invited into her home. SoLo couldn’t figure Alex out. She was so easy going…even after everything that Sid and her gang of thugs had done. SoLo stared at Alex, wondering if the girl was really that happy-go-lucky or if she really might have had a screw loose.
SoLo sat at the table, nervously wringing her hands as she watched Alex preparing the food. “Alex…I was wondering…what do you think about this Pink Ladies situation? I mean…they have been attacking everyone…even you. Don’t you want to do something…something to stop it?”
Shuffling the last pancake onto one of the two massive stacks, Alex got slightly hurt by the mildly cutting question from Song as she walked back to the table.
Alex: Sid took one of the most important things to me, Mackenzie ripped my heart in two. No doubt about it, the Pink Ladies are bullies, but I have my way of dealing with bullies.
Alex sits down with the two stacks and points at them with her fork.
Alex: Blueberry and chocolate chip. I refuse to attack them outside of a ring, Song. I just...I don't like violence. I know that's weird, but I don't. That's their way, it doesn't mean it has to be mine. I have a better way at beating them.
Alex takes a pancakefrom each stack and enthusiastically chows down, talking with her mouth full.
Alex: All the Pink Ladies want is to make me miserable, so my defence is my happiness. They won't break me, Song. They can't. *swallow*. They want to be tough and mean, fine. I'll still treat them with kindness and a friendly attitude because that's exactly what they don't want from me.
Alex looks at Song. Her face a mixture of sweetness and steel.
Alex: Revenge isn't a dish best served cold, Song. It's best served warm and with a side of happiness.

Her answer was so simple…yet so complex. Alex wasn’t at all easy to understand, but she was a good person through and through. Mackenzie Roberts wasn’t deserving of someone like her…no one she knew was deserving of this young girl. SoLo smiled as she forked over a stack of pancakes and did her best to challenge Alex for the title…even though Alex was halfway through her stack already.
As she ate…she wondered if she could do things the way that Alex did them? Could she protect her sisters without resorting to sinister tactics? That would have been ideal…but the reality of it all was that she was nothing like Alex…at least, not anymore. Life had taken its toll on her in recent months and now she was nothing but a shell of her former self. Her sisters were all that she had left and at the moment she was failing them…but she had put a plan in motion that would reverse all of that. Alex wouldn’t approve…and that hurt her…but like it or not, this would all be for her own good. The Pink Ladies needed to be stopped and since no one else could get it together…it was up to her.
Before she could polish off the remainder of her pancakes she heard a knock at the door and she dropped her fork, staring at Alex, both of their mouths filled with the doughy goodness of blueberry and chocolate pancakes. That sweetness was about to be replaced by something altogether different…but it was the price that they had to pay in order to get Chewie back.
SoLo handed Alex the contact that she had just signed. “Here…give her this…then she’ll hand over Chewie and we can be done with all of this.”
Alex had to take a moment to swallow the sheer amount of food in her mouth, before she looked down at the contact she'd just signed. Alex then looked up at Song heading for the door.
This was it. Chewie was coming back to her. He'd be safe and snug with someone who loved him...
Tears started to run down Alex's cheeks as she leapt up and ran for the door, arms outstretched.

As soon as the door opened, Alex was met by Sid’s outstretched hand. “Hold it right there Lollipop! First the contract…then the rat! It’s not that I don’t trust you but I…”
Before Sid could finish her sentence, the contract was shoved into her hands. “Eager beaver…aren’t we? Mackenzie should have warned me…” Sid snuck in a little jab, then turned her attention to the contract…making sure that it had been properly signed. After seeing that everything was in order, she folded and tucked the contract away.
“Looks like you and I have ourselves a match Lollipop!” She walked away for a moment, then came back a few seconds later with an animal carrier in hand. “I believe this is yours…”
Even as Alex grabbed the carrier containing Chewie, Sid held on to it. “I said…this is yours…but make no mistake Lollipop…that sweet little ass of your…IS MINE!” She let go of the carrier, even as she walked past Alex, heading into her apartment and looking around with a sigh. “The last time I was here…I was treated rather shabbily I must say.” She glanced over her shoulder at Alex. “Probably the reason why you can’t get a handle on your love life. I’d look into that…if I were you.”
Sid stood by the table, breathing in the smell of the freshly cooked pancakes. “Yummy!”
Alex wasn't even listening as she opened the carrier and Chewie ran into her arms. Alex then let out a scream so high-pitched that the glass around the apartment could've shattered.
Alex: OH, MY SWEET LITTLE CHEWIE! MAMA MISSED YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!
As Chewie ran about a crouching Alex, every bit as thrilled to see her, Alex scooped the chinchilla into her hands.
Alex: You're gonna get the biggest dust bath, tonight! I bought you a new rock and some new hay...
Alex then stopped in her tracks as she saw Sidney eyeing up Alex's breakfast.

Sid rolled her eyes at Alex, “I took good care of your stupid little rat…trust me…it’s dusty enough!” She turned her attention back to the pancakes, “As for these…I don’t mind if I do.”
She plopped down next to a surprised looking SoLo. Sid eye her business manager, “I don’t know why you are looking at me like that…the little twerp owes me for treating me like shit the last time I was here…and for taking care of her rat! The least she could do is give me a bite to eat…before I kick her ass and take her dumb turtle shell!”
SoLo frowned at Sid, getting up from the table as she walked away without a word. Sid waved at her with a grin, then turned back to Alex, smiling from ear to ear. “So…since you and Mack are no longer scissoring on a regular basis…is it fair for me to assume that you and Bobcut Skinny Pants are cootch-buddies now?”
Sid forked over a heaping stack of pancakes and went to work on them as he watched Alex like a predator.

Sid narrowed her eyes at Alex, forking in the last of the pancakes, swallowing them down with a loud belch. She kicked her feet up on Alex’s table. “Funny Alex…but in order for you to put that heinous little backside of yours on my face would mean that you beat me…and that is not going to happen sweetie!”
She kicked SoLo’s plate, sending it shattering to the floor. She smiled as Chewie squeaked and ran around in terror. “I am going to hurt you Alex…I am going to hurt you really bad and when you are laying on the mat…broken and bleeding…wondering when it’s going to be over…it won’t be! I am going to climb that pole and grab that stupid turtle shell to win the match, but it won’t be over for you just yet. I am going to climb back down and stand over you…and then I am going to beat your stupid face into a pulp with that shell and you break or it breaks!”
She chuckled, “This is going to happen Alex…it’s going to happen and Mackenzie is going to be there watching me do it…watching it with a smile on her lovely little face. She’s going to laugh at you because you are a fool…she played you like a fool and when this is over and done, you will realize how big of a fool you really are!” Sid jumped up, facing off with Alex. “You are done Alex…over and done! Mack broke your heart and now I am going to break you and send you running out of LAW…once and for all!”
