First, I want to say, damn fine job everyone who rp’d. This was, easily, the hardest judging job I’ve ever had in running feds I’ve ever had, and I’ve been running feds since… jeez… ’04? This right here, is why I love this game.
Second, this is what I saw, I figured this may help a lot of people refine, retool, and improve their rp’s in the long run, in no way is any of this personal against anyone, it’s strictly with my fedhead hat on. You know I respect each and every one of you guys and I will always try and treat every one of you fairly. I’m not one to bury anybody, and if you see your matches, even in defeat, everyone looked strong. That’s my goal in this, to give you something to build on for the future and then I can have more shows like this, and you guys can also do well elsewhere.
So, this is what I saw:
Opening 4 Way –
This one was pretty obvious, Delilah did two solid roleplays, Joanna is still learning (but improving) and the others no showed.
Triple Jeopardy Match –
Okay, so, there may be some people who believe that I gave Keira this win due to her relationship with Roxi, but anyone can tell you who’s been here since the beginning, that Keira has lost, far more than she’s won. Keira has asked for title matches and perhaps rubbed some people the wrong way, but she earned this win with two solid rp’s. Dazi did two very good roleplays, but I felt that while they told a good story, it seemed to just end. And the trash talk was minor. Skye did a heck of a job, and if Skye has posted two, she may have won. Nikita also did the same. Laura did a bang up job, but Keira and Dazi got to the end because they put forth the effort.
Submission Match –
I swear Todd could be really awesome when he’s not being lazy. This was another situation where Todd put forth the effort and did just a little more than Mackenzie. I am one of the biggest Mackenzie Roberts fans in LAW, I seriously love her stuff, But I always feel that the trash talk is on point, I only get glimpses of what the character development could be. I felt that character this week, and I wanted more, but suddenly, it was over.
Sidney/Alex –
This was angled. I at least hope Ben and Ron talked about this. I know Ron gave his blessing so, I’m okay with it if you guys are.
Camacho/Drew –
I hated judging this match. Jenn’s trash talk was fantastic, but her character development left me just going… Jenn only likes her cousin? She seems to always support the Pink Ladies, but I don’t see much interaction with them in anybody’s rp’s save for Skye and Kate. I would like to see more of that. Camacho did a great shoot, I always like seeing someone rag on Todd. But the character development, while a good story seemed to be going in many different directions. I did like the inclusion of not just backstory, but some present day stuff too, but it came out of nowhere.
Tag Title Match –
Again, simple, the champs rp’d, the opponents didn’t.
Nyako/ Kate –
Again, damn you both. And again…. Todd, why can’t you be this good, all the time? Todd and Chris have a great back and forth and I loved reading those rp’s, it took really some fine tooth combing to really pick a winner. Chris left some things on the table that Todd capitalized on the first go around, but in the end, Todd began repeating his first rp promo, in the second rp, almost word for word. CD wise, Todd did a great job his first rp, and Chris told a really good story himself. However, in the second CD’s, It almost looked like Todd was overwriting, and padding his length with a second scene for show. Chris was more to the point and concise. And, in my view, when you’re in a title match, you have to beat the champion, tying in rp’s doesn’t get you the championship. Todd was close though, I almost gave it to him.
Fujiko/Oni –
DAMN. YOU. BOTH. STRAIGHT. TO. HELL. First off, you both did an amazing job. I went back and forth trying to pick a winner over the course of the day. And I hated it, and loved it at the same time. I almost considered making this a damn draw because it was ridiculously hard to pick a winner. I went fine-toothed comb again to find a winner. I thought Fujiko did a great job setting up her ppv rp’s with the CD rps which helped give a clearer view. The match promos were absurdly good, I thought Fujiko teetered almost too much into a heel role with the trash talk, but she had a right to be confident being on such a roll. Oni’s promos were off the charts, except for that second RP. The second rp felt cramped and way too much was trying to go on in both the promo and CD. It was a good story, no question about it, but there was a whole lot of backstory that while it helped, it seemed like overcompensation. The same with the promo, there was just so much of it, that it was too much to read in one sitting and get everything out of it. Again, seemed like overwriting to cover way too many bases at once. Fujiko was more consice in her two promos. If this was one rp, Oni would have retained. That first one was excellent. But the second one, as I said felt like way too much was going on all at once.
